Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

Donovan turned his bright blue eyes up to Morrigan's as she knelt before him, feeling her pull something from his hair he felt ashamed. She was in charge of everything here and he was making her life a little harder by fighting with one of her legionnaires. It wasn't that he wanted to up and fight, it just seemed to really have kicked him where it hurt and he had to go off. He should have had a little more self control, but his time in the underworld had really messed with him, and it was easy for things to set him off lately. He frowned deeply and took a deep breath, " Partly that, but I think a lot of it if I'm honest is you not being there. I wake up and reach for you after a nightmare and you aren't there. I sound selfish don't I?" he sighed and shook his head, " I just need to find my place here I suppose. I don't like making things more difficult for you, that is the last thing I want. You are the reason I'm here. Yeah, my friends from camp are here, but you are why I found my way across the country after getting out of the underworld. I had to make sure you were alright, but I also wanted to be with you."
Watching her as she cut off part of her shirt he raised his eyebrows in confusion as she walked off to the fountain. Then he realized what she was doing and a little bit of a smile crossed his lips as he figured out that she was trying to take care of him. Gods he felt like the luckiest man in the world. Though he was so afraid he was going to hurt her. He was falling for her, head over heels and he could not help himself. He sat still as she wiped at the blood on his face, so very gently. This strong woman, with every bit of tenderness and careful touches, it was one more thing to add to the list of things he loved about her. " Thank you." he muttered as she cleaned him up. " I don't know how I managed it. I just don't want to do anything to disappoint you. You know how much you mean to me right?" he had worked so hard to get her back her, to get her where she belonged, and though he had ended up so far away from her for a bit, they had still found their way back to one another, he had worked hard to make sure that it had happened.
" I have no doubt that you will find something." he cracked a smile though it hurt his split lip, he still had to give it to her. She had a way of making the worst moments so much better. " Hmm, that is completely scary." he liked it though. The idea of being able to be that close to her for who knew how long? That was something he could not bat an eye at. Giving him the chance to be that near her? That was the punishment he could only hope for. Though as he saw the look on her face when he mentioned not coming here, his heart shattered. He had not meant to hurt her with those words, but he was so very afraid he was making her life so hard. That had not been his intention at all. He just wasn't the one to want to make someone have to deal with trouble because of him. He had to wonder what Dareios would have done in the same situation. Would he have backed Donovan up or backed up his legionairre? Was she only on his side because he was him? That connection that they had together? Not that he was going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
" Are you sure?" he had not wanted to do anything to make things hard for her. She had leaned into him, and his arms had automatically wrapped around her as she pressed her head against his chest. His arms wrapped tightly around her, her making him feel like he was home. That was the thing about Morrigan. From the moment he met her, she grounded him, made him feel like she was his home. There was no doubt about it to him that their lives were so very intertwined together. That had been something his father had even mentioned. That his life line was so very tangled with Morrigan's though how could he tell her that without scaring her? The fates had their threads tied up in knots, and he had to wonder if in the end they would have that whole Romeo and Juliet type of ending.
He could hear her voice, but it sounded like he was under water, perhaps from his head being shoved into the wall more than once, he wasn't sure. Donovan swore that he heard her though. The one thing he had not wanted to do was to upset Morrgian though, it was too late now. The punches rained down and he was doing all he could to protect his face at least. He could taste blood in his mouth, feel the sticky blood beneath him on the ground, most of it his, some of it from the Roman. Though the hail of punches stopped and he noticed that she was standing there, her eyes piercing as she looked between them. The last thing Donovan wanted to do was let her down, and yet there he was, making her have to discipline one of her own because his temper got the best of him.
He sat up, leaning against the wall as he watched Morrigan discipline the legonnaire. He had said something about a greek lapdog and Donovan's temper flared up again, but he had to stop himself from popping off at him. He sighed as the others moved away and eventually the boy he had fought with did as well. Morrigan come over to him then and he looked up at her, shame clear in his blue eyes, one of them slowly swelling shut from a punch he had taken to it. " Temper got the best of me. He slammed into me and then called me Graecus Scum...I kind of lost it after that. I haven't been sleeping well and well, that's no excuse. I'm sorry. I know this means you have to deal with a lot because of me." he frowned and touched his split lip with his thumb, pulling it away to look at it with his one good idea, seeing blood smeare across the pad of it.
He hoped that he had at least landed a few good punches, " I was trying not to lose control. I know what my powers could have done to him if I lost it too much. he leaned his head back against the wall and looked up at her. " What do you want me to do? Dig some trenches? Clean the bathrooms?" he sighed heavily and looked down at his lap. " I shouldn't have come here..." he mumbled. He didn't want to make her life difficult, and yet, here he was, doing just that. She didn't deserve to deal with all of this. She had too much to do as it was.
If he hadn't come though, what would have become of them? He had fallen so hard for her in the underworld, and now that he had her, he didn't want to let her go. Though he also didn't want to make her life harder than it already was. The Greeks being here was hard for all the Romans, and he was contributing to that himself. Getting in fights was not helping with the relationships between the two camps. " I'm sorry Morrigan. I'm making your life Hades."
At first, being here had been just fine. He had stayed a few nights with Morrigan in her quarters, but eventually he had to get back to the Greeks, no matter how much he had not wanted to leave her. The nightmares started the first night he was in the barracks. It was as if sleeping next to her had kept them at bay and now there was nothing keeping them from happening. It had lead to a lot of sleeplessness and therefore he was having a very difficult time keeping his temper in check. He was doing what he could, going to training with the rest of the Greeks, trying to figure out life in this place, though truth be told, he wasn't sure what to do next. He wasn't sure what life was going to mean for him here. Morrigan was praetor, she had a job to do, and he was having to let her do that, staying out of her way as much as he could. Though it was harder on him than he had expected it to be. They had formed such a bond in the underworld, that he thought this was going to lead to well, he wasn't sure what it meant. He just knew that he wanted her in his life. Though he was not Roman, and eventually, he was likely going to have to leave.
The idea of leaving her behind did not sit well with him and he threw the spear he had been training with with a massive amount of force at the target. It splintered into several pieces and he frowned, going to pick them all up and take the weapon back to the armory so that it could be mended. When he was coming back out, one of the Romans that was heading out of there slammed into his shoulder and Donovan's anger spiked. " Excuse you." he grumbled at the Roman turned to him, he clearly thought he was much better than Donovan, as if he, as a Greek, was beneath him. The cursing started and Donovan just about lost his mind over it, he was not too fond of being called Graecus scum, and his eyes narrowed.
It was too much for the already exhausted son of Thanatos, the dark circles under his eyes an almost deep purple, he clenched his fists as he stared him down. He got even closer to Donovan, right in his face as Donovan lost it. He threw a punch, landing it right across the jaw of the Roman guy, and before he knew it they were throwing punches, shoving each other into the outside of the armory wall. A punch landed across Donovan's mouth and he felt the blood rush, and he spit it out on the ground. He needed to control his temper, fully aware of what he could to by accident, but the punches kept flying on both ends. Someone yelled but he couldn't understand it, another yelled about praetors coming, but Donovan found himself on the ground after his head was slammed into the wall again and he pushed as hard as he could, trying to get the guy off of him.
Donovan felt like the luckiest man in the world. Morrigan was beautiful, but there was so much more to her. She was so powerful, so intelligent, clear headed, just, all around amazing. He could think of nothing but her from the moment they had crossed paths, and he assumed that was not going to change any time soon. " Nothing but time, that is a new concept for us isn't it?" he smiled at her and ran his hand though her long, blonde curls. She was so intoxicating, and he needed her, in every aspect of the word.
His face fell slightly as she said he couldn't say that. He looked down and pursed his lips before looking back up at her, " I am sorry Morrigan, I don't want to make you embarassed or something." he glanced around, realizing that this was her domain, and things were going to be very different for them than they were in his father's world. He had to be understanding of that, she was Praetor and she had a whole lot of responsibilities and a reputation to keep. He was a greek, the son of death for that matter, and not exactly the greatest asset for her to have on her arm.
Though her words made him second guess that. She wanted him to stay with her? " Are...are you serious? You want me to stay?" he was nervous at the idea of it, but also wanted nothing more than that. " I don't want to then. Don't make me leave your side, don't send me away." he swallowed hard, his blue eyes on hers. She was the world to him, and she probably didn't even realize that.
Ah he had screwed up. Made her think the exact opposite of what he had meant. " Wait....wait Mor please." he stopped in his tracks and placed his hands on both of her arms, his eyes connecting with hers, " That's not what I want at all. I want nothing of the sort. I want to stay with you. As long as you will allow me to. I don't want to go to the Greek's cabin or wherever you are keeping them. I want to be where you are. I don't feel right when you aren't there. Ever since the Underworld I feel like our life lines are connected." he held his palm up where they had realized their love and life lines matched. " Morrigan, I really care about you, more than maybe I should at this point, but it's true. PLease don't think that I wanted to leave you." he ran his hands over the sides of her face. " All I want right now is time with you."
She lay her head against him and he closed his eyes for a moment, resting his head on top of hers as she placed her hand over his heart. He was memorizing the scent, the way her hair smelled was soothing him, making his frazzled nerves calm. He took a deep breath, just letting it all go, his eyes turned up to the heavens above them, watching all the lanterns as they floated away into the world away from their own. It was quite a beautiful sight, and he was so glad he had made it in time to see it.
" That does make things a little better. I have to admit, with how many I saw in the Underworld I was afraid that more would have crossed that way. I'm glad they made it here. Probably a little easier than I did, but as long as they made it that's what matters." he bit his lip, " Im rambling aren't I? Sorry I just....I'm so happy to see you Morrigan. I was convinced that I might never make it here." He felt like he was being a downer and this was a great reunion, he had missed her, more than he maybe should have.
Their time together in the underworld had opened him up to things he never expected. It was like the cage he had around his heart had been forcefully ripped open, and he had not a single complaint about that. " Just glad you are ok. I was really afraid that something might have happened, but clearly, you are healthy and beautiful as ever." his cheeks flushed scarlet and he gave her a little nervous smile. It was hard to believe that they had not met long ago, because the connection he felt to her was so strong. She had this pull on him that he had no idea how to explain other than magnetism of some kind.
He had no idea how hungry he was until she mentioned food and his stomach growled. " That sounds like a great idea. Though I don't like the idea of being away from you." he admitted softly. They had been apart for long enough in his mind. " No , I think I'm alright. A few scrapes and bruises, but I made it ok." He took her hand as she tugged at his arm, " The Principa?" he tilted his head at her, confused. " What is that?" he didn't know as much about the Roman culture as he might like. " Is that where the other Greeks are staying or?" he didn't want t leave her side though, the idea of being shoved in with the rest of his former camp was not that appealing at the moment. He didn't want to say goodbye to her after they ate.
There were very few times in his life that Donovan had broken a promise, and he was not about to start with Morrigan. She had been brought into his life at a time where he felt hopeless. As if he might never truly feel happy again, and that was saying something. He had saved her as best he could, helped her back to this realm, and he had never thought that he would be able to get back himself until she had shown up. The world was so much brighter with her in it, and it was something that he never expected to have.
Donovan had lived in darkness for so long, his whole world was just that. His father was Death, his mother was gone, and he was very alone. He expected that he would have a short lifespan, he was a demigod after all, but now. Well, now he wanted to live. He wanted to make sure that he made it through, and maybe some day he could have more. For now, he had done all he could to get back to her, to prove to her that he had kept his promise to her. Show her that she could trust him, that he would always come for her
He held her close, not caring if anyone else was watching, sure as Hades not caring what anyone thought. He took a deep breath, taking in the smell of her hair, the feeling of her skin, every ounce of the moment with her. Her questions clearly needed answers and he had to think for a moment. " How? I'm not sure. I think what happened is that when I stepped through the doors with you it took us both to the last places we were. I ended up back at Camp Half Blood...it was...well, it was quite a shock to see it the way it is now. It's all ash. It's horrible to see it that way, to see the trees all dead, the cabins either completely gone or crumbling. All of it just, destroyed."
He took another deep breath, " I am sorry. I didn't want to scare you or worry you. I came as fast as I could. I could probably sleep for a hundred years with all the shadow travelling I had to do to get to you, but I would do it again in a heart beat." he ran his hand over her cheek again. " Are you alright though? I was really worried that it might not have worked when I realized you weren't with me."
She had held his hand as they stood at the Doors of Death, him, wondering if his father was going to allow him to leave. Though all he cared about in that moment was HER getting out. If he did or didn't was of no matter to him. All that mattered was Morrigan getting out, getting back to her life. They were connected, he knew that from the moment he realized the lines on their palms had matched so very perfectly. It had told him more than he ever would have guessed. Their fates were intertwined, he was meant to meet her. He was meant to find her in the Underworld, that was why thee lines were interesected. It had to be. Their fates were wrapped up together, he was so sure of it.
Standing there with her, he made the promise. They would step through together. One last kiss and they stepped through. He blinked at the bright light and realized his hand was empty. She was gone, and he stood in the middle of a field of ash and ruin. He had ended up back in the last place he had been before he travelled to the underworld. " No...no...gods no.." he looked around the fields, it was clear that camp had been abandoned, and of course it had been, Morrigan had told him it had been a month. A month gone, and no one had tried to rebuild. They really had all gone to Camp Jupiter. He sighed and looked around for a bit, trying to find anything he could scavange, but there wasn't much. Thank the gods he had his backpack with supplies, but it was going to be hard to get to Camp Jupiter without help, or his powers.
He had made it though, and was exhausted as he made it into the camp grounds, looking around for a moment he could hear the sounds of people and headed that direction. There was a low glow of light, and he headed there thinking maybe it was a camp fire but as he neared the area he realized that wasn't it at all. There were dozens upon dozens of paper lanterns, and they were slowly being released. He saw a few of his friends who looked over joyed to see him. Seraphime had given him a big hug, and he had been a bit shocked at that, but after he left her side he kept searching for who he was looking for.
Then he spotted her, the beautiful, golden blonde hair glowing in the light of the lantern she was releasing. He moved quickly to her and just in time to see his name written on the tag as she released it. " I made a promise to you, together remember?" he waited for her to turn to him and ran his hands over her cheeks, one tucking a strand of her hair behind her ears. " I intended to make good on that promise Morrigan." not caring that people were watching, he searched her eyes for a moment before leaning in to kiss her.
" Well, I can't speak for all Greeks, but I do try to be as honest as I can. Everything I said I meant Morrigan. I just hope that you can accept it as the truth." he smiled shyly at her, his cheeks just staying that flushed color, he couldn't help it. She just brought out something in himself that he never would have expected. It was crazy, he had just met her, and yet here they were. A Greek and Roman in the underworld, it sounded like the punch line to a terrible joke. He let it roll off his back though, not wanting to think things he shouldn't. She was needing to get back to her Camp, and he had to figure out his next move. It wasn't like this was more than that. Or was it? It felt very much like the beginning of some Shakespeare play. Two households both alike in dignity blah blah blah.
As she explained about her friend he nodded slowly, " Maybe he is. I mean, that's her job right? She's like the oracle we used to have at Camp Half Blood, kind of, I think right? Get's visions for quests and what not?" he wasn't entirely sure how the Roman camp did things, but he was aware of what the children of Apollo sometimes could do. " I'm so sorry that this happened to you, but I will do whatever it takes to get you out of here. You shouldn't be here, you have so much life ahead of you." he smiled at her, trying to make sure she understood that he was being very much sincere in his words to her. He was going to get her out of here, whatever it took.
He sighed, looking over at her as she tried to give the jacket back, " No. You keep it, I'm fine, really. I just want you to be comfortable. At least, as comfortable as you can be in the Underworld." he sighed, running one of his hands through his hair as he looked over at her, " I know that you are trained for it, but just try to accept the helping hand for a moment. YOu don't always have to be so strong." he wasn't trying to tell her she had to be weak by any means, but he also wanted to help, in any way he could. That included keeping her warm so she didn't freeze in this cave with him. That would be one Hades of a mess to explain.
Finding out that he had been down here for a whole month had been a shock to his system, and trying to wrap his mind around it was not really working. Morrigan moved to him and her hand was in his and then her other on his face and he looked at her, a little shocked at the closeness. She did not seem the type to be the one to do this kind of thing. To be someone that tried to be a comfort to others, yet there she was. Making him feel like he could actually be ok. That he was able to get out of there, with her. Together. That word was a strong one in that moment, and his blue eyes met hers.
" Together, yeah. Ok." he swallowed down his nerves and before he even realized what he was doing He leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers. Though just as quickly as he started it he pulled back. " Crap, I am so sorry. I shouldn't have done that. I...gods Morrigan I am so sorry." his cheeks flamed as he looked into her eyes, not sure if he should be expecting to be stabbed, slapped, or any other number of horrible, painful reactions for his boldness. " I got lost in the moment, I swear im not normally that guy..."
Donovan listened quietly as she explained herself. Explained why she didn't have the connections in her life that she so clearly could use. He felt terrible for her, but he completely understood it. That was his life to lead as well. Not having anyone really in his life had been his burden to bear, but Morrigan was a strong, capable woman, and she deserved to love and be loved in return. His blue eyes searched her as she spoke of her friends and family at camp, of her co praetor, of all of these people that clearly meant something to her, but it didnt' seem to be enough for her to think that people would miss her. " Morrigan, you know I don't know you from any of those specters out there, but I can assure you of one thing. The people at your Camp, especially this Dareios, they clearly will miss you. As far as lovers go, well, any man that can't handle having a strong, beautiful woman in their life is just an idiot." his cheeks flushed a little as he complimented her but it was the truth. IF they could not handle someone who might be stronger than they themselves were, then they were not good enough for her to begin with.
As she spoke of the augur he frowned, " So the greeks coming to your camp caused this." he glanced at the bloody spot on her shirt and frowned, " Has anything like this happened before when she's had visions? or was it just one of those wrong place wrong time situations?" he looked over at her as the light of the flames danced across her face making her look like some ethereal creature. She was beautiful, he could not deny that, and he had to swallow back some of the nervousness he was suddenly feeling. It had been quite some time since he was alone with a woman, and this was pretty nerve wracking. Not that she had any interest in him whatsoever. He was the son of death for one, and Greek for another. Plus, they were in the underworld of all places. Not exactly your romantic getaway.
He couldn't get past the fact that their eyes kept meeting over and over. It was as if they were magnets, drawn towards one another, and it was starting to make him feel a warmth that he had not felt since being in his fathers realm. She made him nervous, but not in a bad way by any means, just in a haven't been in this type of situation kind of...situation. Gods. He felt like an idiot. Handing off the dagger to her, he had not expected her reaction. To him, it was just giving her something that might make her feel a little more safe, to her, it clearly meant a lot more. The softness in her face made him melt a little and he looked away, trying to hide the tint that had grown in his cheeks.
" You're welcome." he smiled at her and as she said that she was fine and shook his head. Pulling off his leather jacket he didn't even wait for the ok and placed it around her shoulders. " we are in the underworld Morrigan, you don't have to keep your walls up at the moment and you don't have to lie. I know its cold here, that's why we need the fire, and if you are still cold, I promise to be a gentleman but I will move closer if you need the extra heat." oh gods, again with the unintentional flirting. He really was making himself out to be a total idiot. He bit his lip and looked back at the flames, holding his hands above them to warm up.
His lips parted as she said it was a month since the attack. He had been down here for a month? He tried not to lose it there in front of her, but it was a lot to take in. " Four weeks....I've been down here for four weeks..." he shook his head at her next question, " I haven't seen any of them." he swallowed hard, and buried his face in his hands. A month of his life spent in literal Hades. A month he would never get back. His heart was thudding in his chest, thinking that maybe he would never even get out of here. Anger began to boil inside of him and he had to choke it back. " I've lost a month of my life down here...and I..." he frowned and shook his head, wiping his face with the back of his hands, not wanting her to see him upset, not wanting to look weak in front of the Praetor of the Roman Camp. That was the absolute last thing he wanted.
He had really expected her to rip her hand away from him. See him as the monster that he saw himself as. He was the son of death, he was something to be feared, or so he had been told in the past. She was the daughter of the king of the Roman gods himself. She was all lightning and storms, he was darkness. It was quite the polar opposites. " You really think that little of yourself? You think that you are not special to someone, to anyone? No friends? Lovers? Family? No one thinks of you as special? I find that highly hard to believe Morrigan. You are not realizing how much you are truly worth to people. I hope that one day you will learn." he swallowed, feeling like he was maybe pushing her too far, but the truth was, she needed to hear it. [break][break]
" It was a friend that stabbed you? That, well, that is awful. I am so sorry but I will get you back to your camp. With the help of the ichor, you will get out of here. I promise." he only wished his father would let him leave. He looked into the flames, watching them dance, the light throwing shadows on the cave walls. Letting go of her hand hand not been something he had wanted to do by any means. He was enjoying the contact. Enjoying the feeling of the warmth. He hated letting it go, as it was the first contact he had had in a very long time. [break][break]
He looked over at her and smiled, " Well it is still nice to meet you, even if its here." he watched her, seeing how she looked in the firelight as she sat next to him. He was struck by how she looked with that light on her face, she was beautiful and he had to look away quickly, not wanting her to feel uncomfortable or anything along those lines was not something he would want. He grabbed a stick he had been using to stoke the fire and poked at it, trying to make it a little higher to make sure she was warm enough. [break][break]
He noticed the movement of her hands and then the way she put them in her lap. " Your powers will work again as well, but only when you get out of here. But here, to make you feel better..." he scooted over a bit and moved to grab a backpack he had there and grabbed a dagger out of it. Holding it out to her hilt first. " You might feel better with a weapon. I know its not much but at least it is something." he sat back in his place and looked over at her, "Are you warm enough?" Concern dripped from his lips as he looked her over, he couldn't imagine what was going through her mind. [break][break]
Morrigan's question threw him for a loop. He wasn't really sure how long he had been down there, it felt like ages but also like minutes. The curse of the underworld. " I, I really don't know. Camp Halfblood was attacked, and when that happened I brought a lot of the souls here, and after, my father would not allow me to leave. I do not know how long I have been here." he admitted it softly and looked to her, " Do you know anything about that? I imagine it has even come to the Roman ears." he ran a hand nervously through his hair, afraid to know how long it had been that he had been here.
He nodded as she seemed to accept what he was saying, or at least was pretending that she did. He could handle that, but right now all that mattered was getting her, not to mention himself, to safety. First, he had to get her to understand that he wasn't going to push her into the river or something insane like that. " Good." he just had to let her know that he was not just some Greek, as he knew most Romans had it out for his people. He was Greek, but that wasn't all he was. He looked down at their hands, the way hers looked so small next to his, but he knew how powerful those hands could be. If she was as strong as he assumed she was, those hands could be the hands of a killer. [break][break]
The shriek of the fury had made him want to cover his ears but he had to help her first, had to get her out of there. He had made a promise and he was going to fulfill it. "this way." he cried to her and lead her into the cave. When they were far enough inside he let out the breath he felt like he had been holding and looked back at her. Her hand in his was making him feel anchored to life once more, and he wasn't willing to give it up not just yet. It would seem that she didn't want to either as her hand stayed clasped with his. Donovan's blue eyes turned to hers as she said she was nothing special and he frowned deeply, " No...don't you dare say that. If you weren't special do you really think that your father would have come and sought me out here? No. He wouldn't have. Besides, every life is precious and special. That is coming from the son of death himself. Think about that." he knew she was going to be stubborn, she was a Roman Praetor for the gods sake. She was born to be stubborn. He sighed and the screeching in the air had set his teeth on edge. Though at least it was gone now. [break][break]
A small smile crossed his lips at her try at humor and he shook his head, " I'm pretty sure I found the right one." he gently squeezed her hand, " I guess I probably should have told you my name. Donovan Grey." he let her hand go for a moment so he could relight the fire that he had had going off and on when he had hidden out here lately. It lit up the little cave showing a few things he had stashed there. A sleeping bag and bed roll, some food he had managed to find which was not easy, as well as some water. " Had to bargain with the ferry man to get a lot of this stuff, he is not the most understanding of sort." he gestured for her to join him and sit on the sleeping bag near the fire. The cave was a little chilly, surprising being where they were, but all the same it was hidden away. He thought, though he couldn't be sure, that this all had something to do with his own father. Keeping him as "safe" as he thought he could be. [break][break]
He could only imagine what might be going through her head as she realized where she was. The first time he had accidentally jumped here it had been terrifying. The screams rang through from the fields, and he knew how awful it was to hear it the first time. He could tell from each of her reactions that she was good at what she did. She was keeping her weight the best way it needed to be in order to attack him if she felt the need to. " You have nothing to fear, at least not from me, but we do need to get out of sight, and fast. I am not saying you have to completely trust me right now, but I am asking you to at least come with me." her heard a screech in the air and he knew exactly what it was. The furies, gods they needed to get away from there, and quickly. [break][break] He had to roll his eyes at her reaction and shook his head, " To be fair, the Romans didn't like the idea of my father, Death is a frightning thing, so they just let the greeks have him. Not my fault that I was born Greek. So please, save me the prejudices. Greek, Roman, Norse, Egyptian, no matter your gods, we all end up here at some point." he gestured towards the fields, and if you looked hard enough you could see the shadow of the great dog Cerberus in the distance. He sighed, " I don't exactly relish the idea of staying here in my father's realm either, and technically its not his, belongs to his boss Hades, or Pluto..whatever you want to call him. " [break][break] She placed her hand on his and his blue eyes found hers. He could feel the warmth of the blood running through her and he felt almost a little tug when their hands had touched, like it was meant to happen. Again with the damm fates messing with him. He kept his eyes on hers, his fingers longed to intertwine with her own but he stopped himself, not wanting to make a tense situation even worse. They stood there like that for what felt like an eternity, but was only mere moments before she pulled her hand away. His breath caught but he kept his baby blues trained on her face. [break][break] He frowned at her question, " because I don't like to have people that deserve to still be living brought down here. You are far too important to the world, to your father, to end up here like this. You aren't supposed to be here yet. Your name wasn't on the list, yet here you are." he held the ichor out to her, " This is your way out, but we have to get to the Doors of Death first. You father still has plans for you Morrigan. The Romans need you, and whether you like it or not, I'm pretty sure the Greeks do too. "his cheeks flushed, " I need your help to get out of here too, because when you open the doors, I'll be able to slip out again too. My father doesnt' want me going back, even though I am not dead yet, and don't need to be here. Though he doesn't think im safe up there." [break][break]
He held his hand back out to her as the screeching grew louder, " Run...come on, Morrigan Run." he held her hand in his and started running, there was a cave he had been using to hide from the furies in on more than one occasion, it wasn't too uncomfortable, and they could rest there for a second while she wrapped her mind around it. " Hurry!"
How long had he been there now? It felt like centuries, and he was starting to lose it. He just wanted to get back to the mortal realm, out of the Underworld, but every time he tried, something was pulling him back. As if the Fates themselves didn't want him to leave just yet. There was a reason he still had to be there, that was what he was coming to believe, but how much longer was it going to be? He was beginning to feel like he was just one of the other shades, making their way through the underworld for the rest of time. The sounds of the wails and screams of the Fields of Punishment were starting to make him think that this WAS his own punishment. Keeping him here, because he wasn't able to save enough of the souls at Camp Half Blood? That he had not been able to fight hard enough? He wasn't sure but it was really something that he had to figure out, and fast, or he was truly going to be lost. [break][break]
He was walking along the Styx when he felt something was off. He thought about the man who had come to him further up the field, the man who had told him he needed his help. What that was, he couldn't be sure but that was before he saw her. That was what he had meant, that Donovan was to help her. She didnt' belong here, he felt that she was still very much alive ,though why was she here? She had to have been teetering on the edge of life and death. Which meant if he could get her out of here, get her back to her body, she just might survive. He headed towards her, and was about to say something when she backed right into him. He gently grabbed her so she didn't fall and let her go just as quickly, not wanting to scare her. Jupiter had come to him, the strongest god there was, and asked for his help. He could not deny that, especially with the promise to help him out of here. [break][break]
Donovan held his hands up, showing her he would not hurt her. " It's alright. I won't hurt you." he could tell she was on the defensive, and he didn't blame her. It was a hard place to be in. " You don't belong here." he could feel something in the back of his mind, a name. Her name? Gods he hated his powers sometime. " You are on the edge of living and death Morrigan. I can help you, I think. We just need to get your away from here before Charon beckons to you again." [break][break]
He knew she was probably very confused, confused as to why this guy who had never met her before knew her name, knew what was going on, and everything else that she could probably imagine. " My name is Donovan Grey, I am a son of Thanatos, but I am not dead. I promise you, I will help you. I think...I think it was your father that came to me, he gave me this." he held out a small vial to her, " He said it would help us on our journey, I think it is to help you get back through the Doors of Death, away from my father." [break][break]
He sighed, " I Know that you likely don't trust me, and I don't blame you, I wouldn't either but look, he held his hand out to her showing her that he was also not a shade, not of this realm, the Underworld, well technincally he was because of his father being Death and all, but that was besides the point, " See? not see through, clearly human."
Some have that dark and brooding thing down, and Donovan is definitely one of those. Though for the most part it’s a bit of an act. He does it so that he doesn’t get too close to people. Being the son of Death himself, it’s hard for Grey to get close to anyone. He fears being there when their life is snuffed out. He hates that he can feel that death nearing, and he certainly hates that his father is the one to come collect their souls. Donovan is actually a pretty sensitive soul, it’s hard not to be when you see the end of so many threads, the unraveling of someone’s existence, but he’s also very strong willed and deep down a hopeless romantic. Hopeless being the key word there.

A mortuary is always a solemn place but even more so when you grow up in one. Donovan was born to Althea Grey not knowing that he was special. His mother had met a grey eyed, dark haired man one day that really seemed to get her. He was understanding of the fact that she had dealt with death on a daily basis, in fact, he said that he was in the same field as her. They became close and Althea ended up pregnant. They never really had a “true” relationship. He just always came around, would take her out when he could. Did they love one another? Yes. Though being the god of Death, life was not easy. If he was not careful, he could kill her or his son with a mere touch. That was why he knew he had to eventually cut ties, otherwise, he would lose them forever. As it was, he knew their numbers, knew when their time would be up, and unfortunately for Althea, it was when Donovan was eleven years old. It wasn’t a monster attack, wasn’t an illness, it was a drunk driver, and Thanatos had to collect her soul. It broke his heart to take her to the underworld, and even more so to take his son to Camp Halfblood. [break][break]
It was there that he found more out about the powers that he was cursed with as well as that he was rather good with a sword. It was nice to find something he was good at, but he was also known as the "quiet guy in the corner" he just tried to blend in to the background and not really show off or try to be something he knew he was not. Donovan was the opposite of a social butterfly, and he was ok with that. He hated that he could not be near the pegasi without them freaking out, the horses running from him if he came near because he absolutely loved them. He thought they were beautiful but they wanted nothing to do with him. [break][break]
He made his way through camp, staying year round as he no longer had any family and had no where else to go. He had inheritance from his mother to get him through, as well as the sale of the morturary that his father actually helped to ensure was taken care of for him. One of the few times that he could have expected anything from him after his mothers passing. He tried dating a few times over the years, but it felt like any time he got close to someone, it just didn't go his way, so he stayed clear. He was afraid he would hurt someone with his powers or worse that he would feel it if he knew they were going to die soon. It hurt, and he avoided it if he could. [break][break]
The attack was the last straw, so many deaths around him, his father made his way there and asked if Donovan would help him. There were so many campers to take to the underworld and truth be told, Thanatos didn't want his son near the camp anymore. The idea of him going to Camp Jupiter also did not settle well with the god, but he would do what he could for now, and that was keeping Donovan busy. [break][break]
Having to use his power so much was exhausting, and after awhile he just couldn't do it anymore. He found himself stuck, and unfortnately, it was on the wrong side. He was stuck in the Underworld, trying to find his way back but the ferryman would not help him. Even though it was clear that Donovan wasn't dead, he still would not help him, and he couldn't help but think that his father had something to do with it. So now, he's stuck, until he can get enough energy back or figure out another way out.
Necroscience: As his father is the God of Peaceful Death, Donovan knows more about death, the dead, the dying and who's going to die next than he is fond of. He hates that he knows these things, and it makes him feel extremely uncomfortable. [break][break]
Invisibility: As his father no longer openly approaches souls directly, and instead chooses to reap them while staying invisible, that ability was passed on to Donovan. Though he can't do it for very long, and it wears him out when he does, it's pretty handy in a fight. [break][break]
Underworld Travel: His father controls the doors of death, and as such, Donovan has the ability to take souls to and from the Underworld. He doesn't enjoy it, but it is possible. His father keeps close eye on it, but when it comes to getting them back out of there, he has to be extremely careful, or he himself has to be the exchange. A soul for a soul if he doesn't use other means to get them out. Now, as he has travelled so much back and forth while helping with the souls from Camp Halfblood, he's currently stuck, but finding his way back out.
