Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

At first, being here had been just fine. He had stayed a few nights with Morrigan in her quarters, but eventually he had to get back to the Greeks, no matter how much he had not wanted to leave her. The nightmares started the first night he was in the barracks. It was as if sleeping next to her had kept them at bay and now there was nothing keeping them from happening. It had lead to a lot of sleeplessness and therefore he was having a very difficult time keeping his temper in check. He was doing what he could, going to training with the rest of the Greeks, trying to figure out life in this place, though truth be told, he wasn't sure what to do next. He wasn't sure what life was going to mean for him here. Morrigan was praetor, she had a job to do, and he was having to let her do that, staying out of her way as much as he could. Though it was harder on him than he had expected it to be. They had formed such a bond in the underworld, that he thought this was going to lead to well, he wasn't sure what it meant. He just knew that he wanted her in his life. Though he was not Roman, and eventually, he was likely going to have to leave.
The idea of leaving her behind did not sit well with him and he threw the spear he had been training with with a massive amount of force at the target. It splintered into several pieces and he frowned, going to pick them all up and take the weapon back to the armory so that it could be mended. When he was coming back out, one of the Romans that was heading out of there slammed into his shoulder and Donovan's anger spiked. " Excuse you." he grumbled at the Roman turned to him, he clearly thought he was much better than Donovan, as if he, as a Greek, was beneath him. The cursing started and Donovan just about lost his mind over it, he was not too fond of being called Graecus scum, and his eyes narrowed.
It was too much for the already exhausted son of Thanatos, the dark circles under his eyes an almost deep purple, he clenched his fists as he stared him down. He got even closer to Donovan, right in his face as Donovan lost it. He threw a punch, landing it right across the jaw of the Roman guy, and before he knew it they were throwing punches, shoving each other into the outside of the armory wall. A punch landed across Donovan's mouth and he felt the blood rush, and he spit it out on the ground. He needed to control his temper, fully aware of what he could to by accident, but the punches kept flying on both ends. Someone yelled but he couldn't understand it, another yelled about praetors coming, but Donovan found himself on the ground after his head was slammed into the wall again and he pushed as hard as he could, trying to get the guy off of him.
Morrigan's days had blended into one another. When she had first gotten back, Donovan had spent the first few nights with her. She hadn't let herself think about the repercussions of something like that. She didn't think about how that might look to others because she honestly hadn't cared. She had been stabbed. She had gone to the underworld. She had found him. The only person who understood what she was thinking and feeling. The two had survived an impossible situation together and she hadn't been ready to let him go. She had needed him in a way unlike anything ever before. She never needed anyone or anything. It was a fact that kept her sane and alive since she was a child. It made her who she was today and she hadn't thought that would ever change.
Then he had shown up and her world had been rattled, shaken down to the very foundation and built up back again by him. It wasn't that she wanted him nearby, which she obviously did, but more than that she needed him near. She hadn't realized exactly how much until he had left her. During the day she could fill her schedule with things to do, things that demanded all of her attention. At night, however, she couldn't ignore his missing presence. Her sleep had taken a nosedive, unable to shut her mind off at night. She began volunteering for late night guard duty, anything that kept her occupied and busy. Lately she was running on a mere two or three hours a night and she knew it would catch up eventually. Until it did though, she had no other choice. Meetings and duty. Duties and meetings. The schedule never seemed to change.
She had stopped by the mess hall, grabbing a black coffee before beginning her trek to the barracks. She had wanted to check on the fourth cohort, to see if there was any news with the border malfunctions. She had barely made it a few feet outside of the doors though as her attention was pulled in another direction. A skirmish had apparently broken out and Morrigan swore to herself as she set the coffee cup down on the nearest bench and jogged over to where a small group of campers were. "Cut it out." Her words carried over the shouting, anger clear in her voice. A few campers and legionnaires moved aside and she recognized the purple-shirted soldier, on top of none other than Donovan himself.
All at once Morrigan felt heat coursing through her. The urge to grab the legionnaire and shove him away a burning desire that begged to be unleashed. "Off. Now." There was no sense of asking or pleading to her words. Demand and the promise of pain a threat laying much too near the surface but she couldn't tamper it down. The boy moved from Donovan, standing up, "He started it." the legionnaire spat out. Morrigan's face remained hard, "Did I ask who started it?" She kept her eyes on the other boy as he shook his head.
She was very aware that the air around them was charged, she could smell it in the air but she couldn't push it down. Not as the legionnaire turned and glared at Donovan, as she saw his split lip and his blood on the ground. Her eyes remained on the two as she addressed the small group that had gathered. "Go back to your training before I find you all something else to occupy your time with." She didn't bother watching them as they left. Refusing to take her eyes from the pair before her. "Go clean your barrack. Your Centurion will inform you what your punishment will be."
The soldier began walking away from her, and as he passed she heard him mumble something about Greek lapdog and Morrigan struck out, quick as a viper. One hand caught the boy's wrist, wrestling it easily enough behind his back as she forced him down onto his knees. "What was that?" her voice level and cold. She was vaguely aware that lightning cracked nearby. The boy should thank his godly parent that the barrier was intact enough not to let a bolt in, at least not one brought on carelessly. If she focused though, if she truly had wanted to, the boy would be heading to the infirmary.
"Nothing. Sorry Praetor." the boy managed to get out and she forced the position just a moment longer, the electricity in her veins begging to come out and play. "Go." She let loose his wrist and watched as he stumbled forward, catching himself before heading towards his bunks. Still thoroughly angry, she turned her attention to Donovan. Her icy blue eyes meeting his. "Want to tell me what happened?"
He could hear her voice, but it sounded like he was under water, perhaps from his head being shoved into the wall more than once, he wasn't sure. Donovan swore that he heard her though. The one thing he had not wanted to do was to upset Morrgian though, it was too late now. The punches rained down and he was doing all he could to protect his face at least. He could taste blood in his mouth, feel the sticky blood beneath him on the ground, most of it his, some of it from the Roman. Though the hail of punches stopped and he noticed that she was standing there, her eyes piercing as she looked between them. The last thing Donovan wanted to do was let her down, and yet there he was, making her have to discipline one of her own because his temper got the best of him.
He sat up, leaning against the wall as he watched Morrigan discipline the legonnaire. He had said something about a greek lapdog and Donovan's temper flared up again, but he had to stop himself from popping off at him. He sighed as the others moved away and eventually the boy he had fought with did as well. Morrigan come over to him then and he looked up at her, shame clear in his blue eyes, one of them slowly swelling shut from a punch he had taken to it. " Temper got the best of me. He slammed into me and then called me Graecus Scum...I kind of lost it after that. I haven't been sleeping well and well, that's no excuse. I'm sorry. I know this means you have to deal with a lot because of me." he frowned and touched his split lip with his thumb, pulling it away to look at it with his one good idea, seeing blood smeare across the pad of it.
He hoped that he had at least landed a few good punches, " I was trying not to lose control. I know what my powers could have done to him if I lost it too much. he leaned his head back against the wall and looked up at her. " What do you want me to do? Dig some trenches? Clean the bathrooms?" he sighed heavily and looked down at his lap. " I shouldn't have come here..." he mumbled. He didn't want to make her life difficult, and yet, here he was, doing just that. She didn't deserve to deal with all of this. She had too much to do as it was.
If he hadn't come though, what would have become of them? He had fallen so hard for her in the underworld, and now that he had her, he didn't want to let her go. Though he also didn't want to make her life harder than it already was. The Greeks being here was hard for all the Romans, and he was contributing to that himself. Getting in fights was not helping with the relationships between the two camps. " I'm sorry Morrigan. I'm making your life Hades."
Morrigan watched as the boy left their presence. Her anger was a cold kind of intolerance that made her want to set something ablaze. She had never considered herself prone to aggression. When it came to herself and Dareios working as a team she always considered herself to be the calm to his raging storm. She tended to be the one who sat back and urged diplomacy while he tended to raze the ground from any and all threats. They worked well together. Today, however, she felt the fire burning inside her and the need to punish the legionnaire until it went away. Donovan's voice pulled her thoughts back and she forced herself to focus on him instead. To ignore the tenseness in her shoulders and hear what he was saying.
Regret was clear on his face and she listened quietly as he told her what happened. Graecus. The word had come out of her lips quite a few times. She had never thought there would ever be a time where hearing it made her wince though. Her face softened slightly at the mention of him not sleeping well. She understood the feeling and only hoped the sleeplessness wasn't clear on her face as well.
Morrigan moved over to where he was leaning against the wall, her hand reaching out to carefully remove a small piece of gravel out of his hair. "Why haven't you been sleeping well?" The question came out soft, her voice almost hesitant to continue, not sure if she would be ready for the answer he was going to give. "Is it something to do with your father?" She didn't let herself go there. She restrained her thoughts from the possibility. Surely he wouldn't be taken from her so soon. The fates couldn't be that cruel could they?
Donovan touched his lip, the skin broken and bleeding. She didn't think it was serious enough to need medical attention but it did need cleaning. Without any hesitation, Morrigan removed her pugio from her side and pulled the bottom of her purple camp shirt away from herself, cutting a strip off the fabric. She walked to where the fountain was, just a few feet away, and dipped the fabric in it before moving back to where he was.
Carefully she dabbed the blood off of his chin as she listened to him speak. She didn't say anything as he spoke of his powers and losing control. It was something every child descended from a deadly god dealt with on a daily basis. She knew he was capable of deadly things, but she also knew him. The boy who had patience, determination, and the will power to bring her back from the underworld. She didn't worry about him losing his patience and harming anyone. She had more faith in him than that. "You wouldn't have." Morrigan spoke the words softly while gently dabbing the rest of the blood off of his chin and lip, pausing only when he asked what his punishment would be.
A small hint of a smile tugged at the corner of her lips before she replied, "Hmm. I'll have to think of something good." She had no plans of making him do any of the chores that he had spoken of. As far as she was concerned, he was defending himself. Her legionnaire should have known better, should have held more honor than name-calling. There was no room for that kind of behavior. "Maybe sentry duty in the praetor's quarters or something equally scary." She had a small playful grin on her lips, that grin vanished when he said that he shouldn't have come here though. Her heart stopped beating for half of a moment, she was sure of it.
Did he want to leave? She knew, somewhere in the back recesses of her mind, that he wouldn't want to make a life here. She knew that this place wasn't exactly hospitable to him, the brawl was clear proof of that. But she had let herself lock that thought away, she had told herself that she would cross that bridge when she got to it. Looking into his icy blue eyes she feared that the day had come a lot sooner than she had hoped.
Then he spoke again, and Morrigan felt the uneasiness vanish. He hadn't meant that he wanted to leave, he simply didn't want to make her job any harder. Morrigan shook her head, "You are not making anything harder for me." She moved closer to him, her body against his, her arms going around him as her head rested against his chest. "You're the only one around here who doesn't make life harder for me actually." A wry grin came across her lips as she closed her eyes, letting the soft rise and fall of his breathing to soothe her. Only a few moments ago she had been ready to call lightening and vengeance down. Now that feeling seemed utterly foreign. That was what he did though, soothed her. In a way that nobody ever had.
Donovan turned his bright blue eyes up to Morrigan's as she knelt before him, feeling her pull something from his hair he felt ashamed. She was in charge of everything here and he was making her life a little harder by fighting with one of her legionnaires. It wasn't that he wanted to up and fight, it just seemed to really have kicked him where it hurt and he had to go off. He should have had a little more self control, but his time in the underworld had really messed with him, and it was easy for things to set him off lately. He frowned deeply and took a deep breath, " Partly that, but I think a lot of it if I'm honest is you not being there. I wake up and reach for you after a nightmare and you aren't there. I sound selfish don't I?" he sighed and shook his head, " I just need to find my place here I suppose. I don't like making things more difficult for you, that is the last thing I want. You are the reason I'm here. Yeah, my friends from camp are here, but you are why I found my way across the country after getting out of the underworld. I had to make sure you were alright, but I also wanted to be with you."
Watching her as she cut off part of her shirt he raised his eyebrows in confusion as she walked off to the fountain. Then he realized what she was doing and a little bit of a smile crossed his lips as he figured out that she was trying to take care of him. Gods he felt like the luckiest man in the world. Though he was so afraid he was going to hurt her. He was falling for her, head over heels and he could not help himself. He sat still as she wiped at the blood on his face, so very gently. This strong woman, with every bit of tenderness and careful touches, it was one more thing to add to the list of things he loved about her. " Thank you." he muttered as she cleaned him up. " I don't know how I managed it. I just don't want to do anything to disappoint you. You know how much you mean to me right?" he had worked so hard to get her back her, to get her where she belonged, and though he had ended up so far away from her for a bit, they had still found their way back to one another, he had worked hard to make sure that it had happened.
" I have no doubt that you will find something." he cracked a smile though it hurt his split lip, he still had to give it to her. She had a way of making the worst moments so much better. " Hmm, that is completely scary." he liked it though. The idea of being able to be that close to her for who knew how long? That was something he could not bat an eye at. Giving him the chance to be that near her? That was the punishment he could only hope for. Though as he saw the look on her face when he mentioned not coming here, his heart shattered. He had not meant to hurt her with those words, but he was so very afraid he was making her life so hard. That had not been his intention at all. He just wasn't the one to want to make someone have to deal with trouble because of him. He had to wonder what Dareios would have done in the same situation. Would he have backed Donovan up or backed up his legionairre? Was she only on his side because he was him? That connection that they had together? Not that he was going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
" Are you sure?" he had not wanted to do anything to make things hard for her. She had leaned into him, and his arms had automatically wrapped around her as she pressed her head against his chest. His arms wrapped tightly around her, her making him feel like he was home. That was the thing about Morrigan. From the moment he met her, she grounded him, made him feel like she was his home. There was no doubt about it to him that their lives were so very intertwined together. That had been something his father had even mentioned. That his life line was so very tangled with Morrigan's though how could he tell her that without scaring her? The fates had their threads tied up in knots, and he had to wonder if in the end they would have that whole Romeo and Juliet type of ending.
Donovan's eyes met hers, his handsome face pulling down into a frown and Morrigan listened intently as he replied to her. She tried keeping her face neutral as she listened to the words that he was saying. Words that made her heart quicken. Words that she too felt, but refused to acknowledge. Words that she guarded cowardly in her heart, not brave enough to say out loud. It was a defect in her, she knew that.
It didn't take a psychology major to see that her parents shunning her from the moment that she was born only honed her into a being much too comfortable in the realm of being alone. It was safer to not care, easier to not care. She felt it was a natural part of her being that she didn't allow herself to get close enough to care about anyone because in the end they left. They always left and she would remain as unloved and unwanted as she had been as a child. Yet here he was, openly confessing his need to have her near to him. Donovan asked if he was selfish and she shook her head, "No. Not at all." The words that she knew she wanted to say at the tip of her tongue, but still not quite able to say them out loud.
He moved on quickly, his words speaking of camp and friends but the reason for returning being her and again Morrigan found herself swallowing the words down. Desperate words of needing him. Not just needing him near her as well, but demanding, requiring. Her voice was quiet as she replied, "I wouldn't be here either if it wasn't for you. I've never believed in fate or anything as naïve as that, but I think…" I think I love you. I think I lose apart of myself when you're away. I think we were meant to be. The words wanting desperately to come out before she steeled herself. "I think we were meant to find each other and I don't know why exactly yet, but I do know that we work best when we're together and if you wanted to…maybe we could spend a few nights together?" The end of the question a bit softer at the end. "Maybe not every night of course, I think Dareios would petition to have you thrown out." She gave a soft laugh at the small joke that probably held a bit of truth. "But I don't think there's any harm in a few nights a week? If you wanted to, of course."
Morrigan put her attention into tending to him. Things that she could do on auto-pilot. Things that didn't require her to bare her soul or confess to falling for him. She carefully got the last bit of blood removed from his face and he murmured a thanks, eliciting a soft reply, "You're welcome."
Then he asked her if she knew how much she meant to him and a thousand thoughts came into her mind in an instant. The burning desire to ask him exactly what he meant, the urge to confess every feeling she had held in. Instead a small half-smile came to her lips, "I'm your war buddy, your partner in escape from the underworld."
He smiled and her chest felt lighter, less tense. Donovan repeated her threat of making him sentry in the Praetor's quarters though fear was the farthest thing in his voice. Her mind began to work through a few ideas. Not punishment of course, that was the furthest thing from her mind, but another idea did come up. "Of course I'm sure. You were at Camp Half-Blood for a while right?" They had very briefly talked about their lives before the underworld, but she knew as much as that at least.
"How would you feel about being an emissary of sorts? We have Camp Half-Blood cabin leaders but most of them are so young. I think it would be beneficial to everyone to have someone speaking on their behalf who has been there a while, who knows and understands them. I think it would help in making this whole situation go a little smoother." She was nodding softly as she spoke, the thoughts all coming together. It wasn't a lie or some sort of pity offer, it was the absolute truth. Chiron was still missing and they had almost no one above the age of nineteen to work with on Camp Half-Blood's side. It was a perfect fit as far as she was concerned.
Morrigan smirked, the edges of her lips pulling upwards, "I do have to warn you though, we'd have to be working together for a long time, at least for the foreseeable future of course. Day and night. You might get sick of me." She was grinning again, he had a way of pulling out this odd playful side of her that she still wasn't sure was a good thing or not.
