Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

NAME: open AGE: 17 - 19 GODLY PARENT: bellona ( negotiable ) COHORT: open but probably 1st or 2nd PLAY BY: emeraude toubia
Meet Em (placeholder name), she's one of Sam's closest friends if not even the closest. The two of them arrived at camp at the same time (maybe even knew each other at the Wolf House and travelled together). Their relationship is solely platonic. I could imagine her being the only one he ever told about Mira.
Speaking of Sam's heartbreaker; I could see Em being very protective of Sam as a friend and she would most likely dislike Mira if they met (which will probably be inevitable). She's usually not the Hellhoundessy or jealous kind of type but that wouldn't stop her from making sure Sam isn't going to get hurt again.
PERSONALITY: Being a daughter of Bellona she's most likely fierce and strong, has no trouble taking care of herself and deal with troublemakers. She's kind and protective to those she holds close and isn't that prejudiced against the lower cohorts like others are. Uh, the rest is pretty much open!
The character is very open and can be discussed further via discord! If you're interested just hit me up.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Quick but light steps carried the son of Jupiter through the dense forest along the border. Branches broke under his feet, leaves rustled as they were pushed from the ground by soft breezes that seemed to appear with each step. A golden blade was secured on his back for easy transportation and access and simply because he preferred it there instead of having it dangle at his waist or strapped against his leg. It made moving more difficult but that was just his own opinion.
Sam had himself assigned more guard shifts than usually just so he could have some sort of distraction and avoid Mira. Part of him didn’t want to avoid her. In fact, that part of him had wanted to talk to her, take her into his arms or just be there with her in one room. It was almost yearning for her. But the other part of him wanted to do what he was doing now - run away. Because sometimes running away seemed easier than confronting someone.
Before he even realized he was back at his starting point, joining the other three guards who were on shift with him. Even before he arrived he heard the whistle that announced the end of the patrol, the sign that he was free to leave which was good because Sam was starving and thirsty by the time he returned. Without changing he jogged to the Mess Hall, all the way from the tunnel entrance because the food was more important than taking a shower or changing clothes. Sometimes…
He made his way to the entrance of the Mess Hall, blending in with a group of legionnaires on their way in. Sam paused, halting in his tracks when he recognized a calm face standing near the front entrance. A grin was playing on his lips as he flicked his wrist and sent a gust of wind towards the redhead. The group around him dispersed as they went to grab food but he remained where he was, at the entrance, grinning and waving an innocent hello at the daughter of Neptune.
There was this… born rivalry between the children of the Big Three that he couldn’t himself. Sam winked playfully at her, offering a mischievous grin as he approached, hands locked behind his disheveled dark hair. "Llewellyn! Waiting for dessert?"
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Wind and air were his elements. Yet, here he was, getting swatted aside like a housefly, because his attention was entirely on Mira. He heard his name somewhere in the distance but it was swallowed by the wind. Before he could think about slowing the impact Sam hit the ground, dragging grass and dirt with him where he landed hip first. Something warm trickled down the side of his face and when he reached out to touch it, his fingers came back stained red. Sam wasn’t sure when and how he hit his head but apparently, he had. Perhaps a stone that lay in the path of his fall or maybe the golden beak it sported was the cause.
His body felt stiff and tired as if he had just run a marathon against a child of Mercury. Forcing the throbbing sensation in both his head and hip away, he pressed his palms against the ground as he pushed himself up into a sitting position, back resting against a tree. Sam lifted his head, frantic eyes searching for Mira, although he sincerely hoped she had listened to him for once and left as fast as she could. Of course, she did not.
Her slim silhouette stood where he was just a moment ago. He watched her glance at him before she darted off towards the tunnel entrance. But instead of running through it to safety, she picked up the weapons lying next to the entrance, and once she grabbed the set of arrows and the bow she ran back into the direction of the oversized bird. His mind was spinning, his heart was racing. Confusion as well as panic set in, wondering why in the world Mira would take the weapons and why she wasn’t leaving as he told her to.
Sam had attempted to get up, to run over, to help her, to save her from what should have been his job, to begin with. But no matter how often he stood, his legs felt too heavy and dizziness took over, spreading inside his head like a poisonous cloud. His lips moved but no words left his mouth. Over and over he tried saying her name but all that was audible was a whisper of air.
He watched her nock one arrow after another, aiming and shooting at the monster, striking it but never anywhere where it would harm it. The question of why she was even able to see it hadn’t occurred to him yet. Even if it had, it wouldn’t have mattered anyway. The only thing that mattered right now was to get both Mira and himself to safety and he wasn’t capable of doing so.
Hazel eyes widened in horror as the Stymphalian bird raised its wings and thrust them forward, some of its feathers loosening and turning into sharp-arrow-like weapons. Sam raised his hands slightly, summoning the powers his father had gifted him with, and pushed his arms forward with as much strength as he could muster, sending a strong blast of air at the feather-arrows. The arrows changed their course and landed limply on the highway. A sigh of relief escaped his lips before his focus was back on the beast.
Albeit shaky, he kept his arms and hands up, moving them a little until the monster was in the frame. With another strong blast, this time coming from above, he forced the bird down, keeping it struggling against the cage of air around it. He didn’t have the strength nor the time to keep it there while also running for his sword at the tunnel entrance and back. So he did the only thing that made sense to him at that moment even if it wouldn’t make any sense later. Clearing his throat he glanced at the brunette, "Now!", was all that he could say, his voice cracking as he shouted.
The light around him started to dim, his sight losing all sharpness and turning his view into a blurry mess until there was nothing but darkness all around him.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Hazel eyes wandered around the area as he walked alongside Kade down the road. "You try not to fear the things you can’t change and I try not to take back decisions I’ve made. Therefore, you’re stuck with me now. Bummer huh? No one got hurt because of you and no one is going to get hurt. Especially not me, Sam Darnay." Sam assured her, giving her a small pat on her shoulder as they walked down the highway, a car passing them from time to time, headlights illuminating the street around them.
On days like these, their lives seemed overly complicated, sad, difficult, painful. He had tried to hide the pain that crossed his face for hopefully no longer than a second at the mention that he could have a pick and choose anyone he wanted when in reality he only wanted one person and no one else. Unfortunately, even with his pretty face he still couldn’t have her. Sam pursed his lips, going back and forth between cracking jokes and being serious when Kade brought up Morrigan, although she was the whole reason the two of them had left the safety of Camp Jupiter and were on their way to ask a monster for help.
He looked down at her, eyes meeting hers, his lips curling up into a gentle smile. "You don’t need to explain anything. Don’t worry. I know better than to prod anyone about their strange abilities. We’re all demigods. If we have one thing in common it’s being strange." He made a face as he spoke, a crease forming between his brows. Shaking his head he poked her softly against the shoulder. "Morrigan is still hovering at the doors, she hasn’t gone through yet." Sam was hoping to somehow lift his friend’s mood. Not for himself but for her sake.
His face was glued to the screen of his phone as he opened the app with the U on it, tapping several buttons and entering names of streets etc. Clicking his tongue he smirked at the screen in response to her question. "Without me? Without me you probably wouldn’t have made it past the tunnel entrance," he said, winking at her and holding up the brightly lit phone screen, giving it a small shake. As he continued to type in all the information because he hadn’t made use of the service in a long time and stupid mortal updates needed him to re-enter all his personal information and bank accounts, he thought about her next question but ended up simply shaking his head. "Eh, if anyone who knows me notices that I’m gone they will most likely think I snuck out… again. You know how I stand on the whole rules thing. I’m not necessarily known to stick to them all the time." He chuckled, rolling his eyes at her. "You’re welcome."
The son of Jupiter followed her closely, mimicking her checking to make sure it was the driver they ordered. He greeted the guy back, giving him a quick once over. Looked like a regular mortal… but a demigod would know better since monsters could take any shape or form, even one as an uber driver for whatever reason. He slipped into the car after Kade, pulling the door of the car shut next to him. Taking in a deep breath he for once welcomed the strong smell of a car air freshener, immediately feeling more normal again. Cars were such a mundane thing that he almost forgot about it, not having been in one for such a long time.
Rubbing his hands eagerly together he glanced between Kade, the driver, and the street ahead of them. "Coffee and bagels. Sounds good. I would die for a cinnamon bun right now," he commented, his stomach letting out a soft but barely audible growl. As they drove down the highway into the city Sam tapped his thighs. "I’m sure Procrustes won’t expect two demigods stepping inside his store with coffee and bagels," he laughed a little, keeping his voice down so the driver wouldn’t pay too much attention to them and not accidentally overhear their conversation.
"This new movie script is great. Perks of being an actor." Sam lied, raising his voice ever so slightly, eyes flicking over to the driver before he winked at him, clicking his tongue again and overly dramatic-ly running a hand through his dark waves. The driver seemed to ignore him, continuing the drive. It only took about half an hour until they crossed the bridge and then they arrived in San Francisco.
Opening the car door he slipped out, holding it open for Kade to get out as well. The driver had already been paid via the app and drove off the second the door was shut again. Sam whistled, taking a look around the street they were dropped off at and as he turned, a green mermaid greeted him almost instantly. Pointing a finger at the building he grinned at Kade. "Oh look, it's almost as if he knew." Without hesitation he stepped closer, the doors sliding open as he neared the motion sensor. Fancy.
He was greeted by air-conditioned air and the smell of coffee which he gratefully inhaled deeply. And then his eyes fell on the cinnamon buns. Sam waved at Kade, strolling towards the counter to place their order. "So, plan for the day... coffee, bagels, monster slaying, saving lives. The usual demigod business." He said to Kade before looking around the rather empty coffee shop. "To go sounds good? We can eat on the way to... the bed guy."
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Sam couldn’t take his eyes off of the sky, his father’s realm. He watched the clouds go by one by one, in groups, and in various forms… one suspiciously looked like a certain daughter of Aphrodite. A snort left his lips. He still couldn’t believe or make sense of it all. They hadn’t talked or met again after her arrival at Camp Jupiter and the following monster attack, the monster which she had slain and not him. It was all… highly confusing to say the least. Sam had so many questions, so, so many.
These days he found himself lying awake at night, tossing and turning in his bunk and annoying his bunkmate, although, fortunately, he was the owner of the lower one. He didn’t even realize how much he suppressed the sheer image of Mira during her absence the past three years but now that she was back and he could physically see her she instantly skyrocketed back into his mind, his dreams, everything. The thoughts of her overthrew everything else. Food? Mira. Training? Mira. Sleep? Mira.
Mira. Mira. Mira. Mira. Mira.
The image of her disappeared into nothing when someone else stepped into his view. Letting out a frustrated and annoyed uuugh the brunet pushed himself up into a seating position, furiously running his hand through his hair. "Yeah, I am aware of that. Thanks. I also know I’m an idiot. Thanks a second time," he responded to his best friend, who he spent enough time with to have picked up a Spanish word or curse word here and there. El tonto being one of them. He shot her a playful glare, remaining on the comfortable ground, the small pebbles digging into his behind.
"Do you want to know how it feels to end up with your gluteus maximus on the ground, my dearest friend? I’m more than willing to show you." he teasingly asked her, holding up his arms and curling his palms inward in a come here gesture. Sam offered Esma a cocky grin, however, his eyes were overshadowed by the constant confusion and sorrow that stuck to him for the past few days. "Today is one of those days where continuously digging your face or butt into the ground actually feels good. Not in a weird way." He pointed his index finger at her, dark eyebrows raised. "Don't think of anything weird. I dare you."
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Sam scoffed at her poor attempt of apologizing and telling him that she didn’t want or plan to do it. He could pass up her half-assed explanations and sorrys, not wanting to bother with those. If she couldn’t or didn’t want to do it properly then she might as well leave it be completely. "Blaming your aunt doesn’t help. And it didn’t look as if you didn’t want to. You were clearly enjoying yourself, the two of you were practically eating each other." He turned his head to face anything but her to hide the sadness that was threatened to overthrow the anger and disappointment. But was he really disappointed in her or was it more in himself? That he let it happen, that he let her go.
He had tried to get her back but when he appeared at her house he was always ushered away by her awful aunt. He never liked her, hated her. She always insisted on dictating Mira’s life as far as he knew. They never met until the time Mira broke up with him. And then one day, Mira was just gone. There was nothing he could have done back then. Before he could he had to leave his own home to move to the Wolf House and then Camp Jupiter where he had spent the last three years.
The brunet tipped his head back and let out a laugh in disbelief. "Really? Why not? Did your aunts not teach you not to be rude or wait… they probably taught you the opposite," he responded, his words filled with hatred which was again, more directed at her extended family rather than herself. His lips parted, the next comment ready to leave his mouth but he was stopped by the sudden touch of her. It was just a simple, gentle graze along his arm but yet… yet he couldn’t help those old feelings to bubble up again, pushing against his chest, begging to be freed again.
He stood still as she talked to him, apparently thinking more half-hearted words would help her to make him leave and let her be. They didn’t. Sam was utterly confused at the whole interaction and shrugged it off, not thinking much of it. His hand brushed against his bracelet, unconsciously fidgeting with the leather band, plucking and letting it snap back against his skin like girls often did with their elastics.
"I just know. You have to trust me on this. Unlike you I’m trustworthy," Sam spat, not intending to come off as heartless and rude as he did but by the time he uttered that sentence it was too late to take it back. There were too many emotions going on inside of him, wanting to be shown, to be heard. He cleared his throat as he pulled out his phone to order her an uber but she declined any sort of help he had wanted to offer her and any sort of way he tried to keep her from entering the tunnel. Not that she, a mortal, could accidentally stumble into Camp Jupiter. She would be spat out at the other side of the hill but he couldn’t simply follow her because the son of Jupiter would simply end up inside of camp.
His gaze shot up at the joke of getting eaten by something which in a mortal’s case would sound very harmless but to a demigod like him, it left a bitter aftertaste because unfortunately, for a lot of them it happened. He suppressed a shudder that threatened to run down his spine, the icy cold trickling down his bones at the thought of it. His features contorted into a partly horrified expression as he looked at her. He had to admit she did look tired and he couldn’t help but feel worry rising up inside of him, joining the hundreds of other emotions he was trying to ignore and hold back.
For a long moment, Sam simply looked at her, his gaze locked on hers. "You won’t ever have to see me again," he repeated her own words, breathing out the last words as his breath hitched for a brief moment. He dropped the arm with his phone, a silent scoff escaping his lips as he put it away into his jacket. "Do you really think that’s what I-"
A loud roar shook the night.
Alert eyes flicked toward a silhouette lurking in the darkness behind them, feet swiftly turning him around without even having to think about it. There it was. A joke that really wasn’t a joke to him. He followed the silhouette that slowly emerged from the shadows and the trees surrounding the area along the highway. His hand instinctively went for the sword that… wasn’t secured to his side nor to his back. dammit. He left it at the entrance of the tunnel together with the set of bow and arrows his guard partner left before he went to grab a snack, leaving Sam alone. Normally, he would make a run for it but with Mira there, he couldn’t just leave her and he really didn’t think she would move if he asked her to, heck, she wouldn’t even move if he begged her to. Not after their awful conversation.
Sam took a deep breath, flexing his fingers and feeling the energy around him, sparks igniting around his fingertips - hopefully not too visible to Mira. He quickly moved to stand behind her, facing the half-visible creature. He squinted at it, narrowed his eyes, and focused but he couldn’t really make out what exactly was stomping its way towards Camp Jupiter.
The brunet put a hand on her shoulder, forgetting about the electricity that was running through him and most likely having accidentally given her a tiny shock. Quickly retrieving his hand he tried to nudge her towards the tunnel because maybe having her go through it to end up on the other side away from the monster wasn’t such a bad idea after all. "Mira, listen, please don’t ask me why but you have to run through the tunnel. Now.," he simply told her without any further explanation, because how was he supposed to explain to her that a mythical beast was about to attack them - or him.
The monster let out another ear-shattering cry and Sam instantly whirled around, hands on his sides as he prepared and waited for it to charge. The sound of wings flapping echoed in his ears and the next thing he knew was that he was hauled to the side and flying through the air, crashing on the ground. Grunting, the demigod lifted his head, pain searing through his side he landed on rather harshly, looking at what appeared to be a gigantic, metal bird - a Stymphalian bird.
[attr="class","THREAD11CONTENT"] Sam tried to remember if Kade ever mentioned harboring a grudge against his half-sister but he couldn’t think of anything the like. Not only wasn’t Kade the type to harbor grudges or be mad at others in general but he also would know if there had been issues between them. Knowing the daughter of Apollo well enough getting told it was a mere accident made a lot of sense. He shrugged, lowering the dull blade. "Well, I guess as long as you’re still in one piece," he joked softly, pretending to give Estelle a once over as in making sure she was indeed in one piece.
"Would hate to have one sibling less to train with considering Morrigan barely has time." His gaze wandered skyward as the two of them talked about the weather or the lack of it. The son of Jupiter pointed his sword at the sky, fixating on a passing white cloud. "Dear father Jupiter Optimus Maximus, lord of the sky, the almighty king of the gods. Spare your children a minute of your precious time and send them a storm packed with thunder and lightning," Sam called out towards the sky, paused for a few seconds before he dropped his hand holding the weapon, and then shrugged. It was worth a try.
One dark eyebrow shot up as she told him about having worked on some new moves but he didn’t comment on it just yet. Wary and careful eyes observed her movements, mimicking her stance and steps as she started circling around him. The corners of his lips curled up into a calculating but devious smirk, expectancy visible. Sam swiftly side-stepped her first attempt to strike, then stepped into her second attempt on the other side while she turned. He held his blade with the handle facing up and blocked her attack, not yet putting too much strength into the block. "I stole some moves from Jax. You're not the only innovative one, sis." With more strength he called upon some wind and added the secondary strength into the push as he shoved forward.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Ready. Set. Go! The son of Jupiter pushed himself up and bolted forward, his heels almost losing touch of the ground as he did so. Sam sprinted towards the mark, easily reaching it before the others in his group. Running was just what he needed after Mira had surprisingly, and shockingly, reappeared in his life. He needed to relieve some… or actually a lot of the stress it had caused him the past few days. Who would have thought that Sam Darnay, son of Jupiter, the popular jock even at Camp Jupiter, would lose his usual composed manners because of a girl?
But then again… Mira wasn’t just a girl. She was the girl. Only a few selected people knew about her and even then he tended to keep that part of his history involving her more or less vague. He disliked talking about her, even saying her name caused stabbing pain in his heart. It’s been years and clearly, he wasn’t over her yet, and now that she was back in his life, it hurt even more.
A little too lost in his thoughts Sam didn’t hear the sound of the whistle or the pair of feet approaching him. The moment he managed to snap out of his trance-like state he was already hurled backward, a child of Mercury having accidentally slammed into him. The impact sent both of them flying through the air for a moment before Sam crash-landed onto the outer part of the Marching Rings.
The brunet rolled on his side, letting out an extremely annoyed grunt. Sam wasn’t usually known to be in a bad mood, heck, he couldn’t even be seen frowning. If he wasn’t laughing he would at least be smirking with no thoughts bothering his good mood. He was slightly annoyed at himself for letting it all affect him in such a drastic way. It was just like three years ago all over again. One day, he was living a regular and ordinary mundane life and the next he was whisked away into a whole new world filled with strange, mythical creatures and gods.
Sam heard his name being called in the distance, his group getting ready to leave for a different class but he wasn’t ready yet. Just a few more laps, he told them, before dashing away. A few more laps he said… Sam liked the feeling of running, of pushing his legs to their limit, of the wind in his face and rustling through his hair, turning it into a sweaty mess. More so if he actually had a reason to push himself to his limit which he hadn’t done in a while.
Focus, he told himself, before shooting out both hands to give himself a bit of a windy support push to run even faster. But focusing in his current confused and irritated condition didn’t work out that well. Having added a little bit too much force into the push he accidentally threw his body forward, finding himself about to faceplant the ground once more. Instinctively, he held out his arms to catch the fall and rolled onto his back, hazel eyes staring at the too nice and too clear sky above him.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Sam made sure the person he had bumped into didn’t fall. Chances were they might get trampled to possible death by all these hungry demigods crowding the Mess Hall at the moment and he wasn’t really feeling partaking in accidental manslaughter today. He still had a few lessons to attend, the day was far from over.
Sometimes, ever since they had known about the Greeks and their camp, he wondered if their schedules were as packed and strict as the Roman one. But from what he’d heard so far their idea of camp was in fact a ‘camp’ like those summer camps he used to see adverts for at his school. Band camp, church camp, etc. Meanwhile Camp Jupiter had always been more of a military boot camp, training soldiers for a war no one knew would ever happen - hopefully it would stay like this.
Sam looked down at the petite blonde he had bumped into, letting go of her once he saw she wouldn’t tip over. She accepted his apology with ease and he returned the smile. His hand went up to his head, scratching the top of his dark waves. He looked around, nodding in agreement to her comment about the Mess Hall being crazy, before he turned back to the girl in the orange t-shirt which marked her as one of the Greek demigods. “I mean… usually it’s not. Everyone has their assigned places to eat but with so many new campers to accommodate it’s a little… difficult I guess,” he replied with a one shouldered shrug. “I’m sure the Praetors are working on a better solution for this but for now it seems like we have to put up with a little dose of daily chaos.”
When she asked him if he knew where she could sit the brunet glanced over his shoulder, giving the room yet another quick look. He wasn’t entirely sure what the seating order was supposed to be at the moment. All he saw was a purple and orange chaos. “Come on, you can sit with me.” He offered with a nod at his usual table.
“I’m Sam by the way. Uh we usually introduce ourselves by cohort. Which would be the first but I’ve heard you guys prefer sorting by godly parents? In that case: Hi, I’m Sam. Son of Jupiter,” Sam introduced himself, before making his way through the crowd while guiding her towards the first cohort table.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Upon mentioning his lack of proper hiking gear the brunet looked at his clothes and then simply shrugged at her response. "Who says hiking is limited to mountains?" Shifting his weight he nodded at the highway, a single car driving by as he spoke. "Haven’t you heard of the new trend? It’s called highway hiking. Wasn’t following every single trend a hobby of yours or your aunt?" he retorted right back, not allowing her to get at him with that attitude he was all too familiar with. Although… she had never used it on him in the past.
He scoffed, turning away at her words. Hands rested on his waist, unsure where to put them until he decided to cross them over his chest. "Yeah,-" Sam began, sneering. "You’re right about that Mirabella Desai. There’s a lot about you that I don’t know." He agreed with her, seeing no use in denying the truth. His gaze found hers as he studied her face. "But there’s one thing I know for sure. That you have a thing for a man’s best friend. Sorry to disappoint you though. There’s none for you to make out with here," he said as he tried hard to sound collected despite the bitterness oozing out of his voice. Suddenly feeling the need to laugh he pinched himself in the arm to stop himself. He would only end up mocking himself for his own foolishness, for being so blinded by what he thought had been love. Apparently, it never was, not for her at least.
Modeling. Of course. The son of Jupiter rolled his eyes at her, at her words, at everything that's happening right now. "As far as I know New York is a much better place with many more opportunities for that." He knew. Mostly from his mother and her friends, their endless and boring conversations about it when it wasn’t about the business. He had dipped his toe into that field, having been used as a marketing model for the family company. Although, those memories had been pushed far into the back of his mind ever since arriving at the Wolf House. Modeling certainly didn’t help to survive the wolves or camp in general.
With his arms still crossed over his chest, curious eyes followed her as she strode towards him before attempting to move past the son of Jupiter. Without hesitation and slight confusion he slid into her way to stop her from continuing moving further to the tunnel. "You can’t think I will just let you leave after randomly appearing in front of me?" he said, or rather asked, a drop of disbelief in his voice as he spoke. He had his eyes on her, only glancing down towards his arm when she touched him there, resting her hand on it as if she intended to guide him elsewhere.
Sam’s features were still, calm, albeit feeling even more confused as he watched and listened to Mira telling him to turn the other way, not question her and forget that he saw her tonight. What? Hazel eyes were fixed on hers, looking into those deep brown orbs of her. For a moment he involuntarily held his breath, having forgotten how easy it was for him to get lost in them. He was never really able to figure out the precise brown of her eyes. It had always been a blend of chocolate, umber, and sometimes in the sun, they would lighten up to a golden brown. Now that he was given another chance to look at them once more he did notice a difference. Unlike years ago the warmth of her eyes was gone, replaced by something else, although he couldn’t tell what it was.
When she finished speaking he released the breath he was holding, averting his gaze immediately. A light shudder ran down his spine, his bracelet feeling uncomfortably tight for a second. Sam looked at his wrist where it was hanging loosely around his skin as usual. Dark eyebrows were raised in utter entertainment, a laugh escaping his throat before he placed a hand over his mouth to drown it out. "Uh-" He looked at her and then glanced back at the tunnel. "Sorry what? is this some sort of joke?" the boy uttered, shaking his head softly as if to get out of some sort of trance.
"Can’t do that. I have quite a lot of questions for you but I don’t feel like elaborating on those tonight. It’s an abandoned maintenance tunnel, Mira. The emergency phone doesn’t work." He took a step back, still assuring that her path to the camp entrance was blocked. He knew that even if she was walking through it, as a mortal, she would just end up on the other side with no memories of how she had gotten there. However, he didn’t really feel like having her anywhere near his home still feeling bitter about her coldhearted breakup. His heart told him the opposite, as it had for those three years, but his heart could simply f off. "You can use my phone. Let me call you an Uber back to the city. I’m sure there’s no modeling agent waiting for you inside that tunnel," Sam said, fishing out his phone out of his jacket.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Sam playfully rolled his eyes at his friend. “You know I don’t like to brag about my status as son of Jupiter but,-” he began, shrugging, the corners of his lips turning up into a smug grin, “-I am a son of Jupiter. We don’t choose our parents, do we.” Giving the longer blade, the one he held in his right hand, a quick twirl he slid one foot back, the ground underneath his combat boots crunching. He adjusted his footing, making sure he could fend of a surprise attack if needed.
To be honest, he wasn’t expecting Jax to actually go for it first. He had expected him to give a retort instead and wait for Sam to make the first move. Surprised, Sam stepped forward instantly to greet the attack. With the short blade in his left hand, he went for one axe in an attempt to push it away, while the long blade was used to swipe at Jax. However, the blond deflected, the blade of the axe clashing against Sam’s sword.
Jax got a hold of the swords with the hook of his axe, and in one swift movement turned sideways, pushing Sam in the other direction while aiming for his side. The son of Jupiter wasn't stupid, and he was quick, although the distance between the axe's sharp edge and his waist being merely a hair's width.
A chuckle escaped his lips as he shook his head softly. "Nice try. Let me show you how it's done properly." Sam quickly adjusted his footing again, using the short blade to block any further attacks with at least one of the battle axes. He was trying to get into the hook of them, so he could wiggle them out of Jax’s grip. It was his goal, surely not an easy one to achieve though as he battled the son of Mars.
He raised his blade once again, jumping slightly as he aimed at the smack middle of Jax's face.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Camp Olympics. To be honest, when they were first told about this event to welcome the Greeks, Sam wasn't a fan, but he would never decline an invitation to compete. It was a nice way to relieve some of the stress that built up inside of him over the past few days, or week. All the chaos around camp had him completely out of his mind. He was glad he didn't mess up his training schedule yet but surely, after the appearance of a certain brunette, this would change too. Perhaps he should consider going hiking for real, just to get away.
But today wasn't the day for a break, even though he would consider it one. Sam had signed up for the combat part of the games. Hazel eyes scanned the arena as he tried to judge possible opponents. He couldn't really see much of a difference between the Greeks and the Romans, except their different colored t-shirts. That was the only thing that kept them apart. Everything else? Pretty much the same. Didn't mean he would willingly accept them as their own.
His observation was interrupted when he heard his name being called. With one swift movement, he turned and marched towards the battle area. He had watched Jax grab two battle axes as he followed behind him to get himself a pair of blades as well. He grabbed an ordinary spatha and a matching gladius, except that the blade was slightly shorter than the other. The brunet shook his head with a grin, walking towards his assigned starting point.
He snickered, seizing up the son of Mars. "What makes you think this is about you, Hollins? Maybe they are afraid of me." Adjusting his grip on both of his swords he nodded at the blond. "Ladies first."
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] "No way." Sam was talking to Em as the two of them made their way to the Mess Hall to grab lunch when he stopped in front of the open doors, the hall crowded with demigods – Greek demigods scattered all over the place. He looked over to their table, the first cohort one, but it seemed so far away. Letting out a sigh he turned his head to ask Em if she wanted to grab lunch elsewhere when the only thing he saw of her was her back, already turned towards him as she left. "Understandable," he muttered under his breath before letting out yet another sigh.
Running a hand over the back of his neck, the son of Jupiter stepped inside, pushing his way through the awful crowd. Some were still wearing their ugly orange camp t-shirts while others had changed into purple ones. He grimaced softly at the sight, even though he didn’t mind them as much as others, it was still something he just wasn’t used to. However, the slightly grim expression was quickly replaced by his usual, charming smile when he heard his name being called and someone from his cohort waving him over.
Part of him was wondering where the Greeks would be seated since their system had them sorted by cohort. Guests were allowed to sit wherever they wanted to but would the Romans consider them as guests? He spotted legionnaires glaring at the strangers from time to time, only giving it a shrug in response.
Short strides carried him over towards the other side of the mess hall, shoulders bumping into a lost demigod from time to time. His mind was going through his food options, trying to figure out what he wanted to eat. Considering it was so heavily crowded he might just go with something simple and quick, or perhaps something he could just take with him. The grumbling of his stomach demanded the opposite. Fine.
He just made it to the center of the room when he accidentally bumped into someone a little harder than he intended to, just wanting to get over to his table as fast as he could. "Crap, sorry!" he called out, his arms immediately reaching out to support whoever he just bumped into.
[attr="class","THREAD11CONTENT"] Sam didn’t put in any resistance when she pushed the dull blade aside. He let it hang in the air for a minute before dropping it, point poking the soft grass on the field. He responded with a small shrug, his lips curling up into a carefree smile. "It surely is when said sister is late for her training session." Her next statement had him raise his eyebrows at her as he leaned on the top of the hilt of his sword, using it as some sort of pillar. "You alright?" he asked, the faintest hint of worry in his voice. Despite their age being the same he still felt like the older brother, and worrying about his siblings was his duty.
He watched her with curious eyes as she put her hair into a ponytail, pulling out his blade from the ground and wiping off the bit of dirt that stuck on the tip of his pants. A wave of almost unrecognizable sadness washed over his face for a brief moment at the mention of storms. “Unfortunately, the weather report says no storms or even rain for the next two weeks," he announced, a small sigh escaping his lips. "Guess we have to offer our dad a prayer."
The son of Jupiter gave his sword a similar twist with his wrist, adding a little strength of wind into it, making his t-shirt and the grass around him shift slightly as it got hit by the gust of air. He positioned his feet, hazel eyes fixing on his sister’s face while he watched her every move. "Ha," he laughed at her taunt. "In your dreams." And with that he got into a defensive stance and held up his free hand, palms up, gesturing in a come at me motion. "Ladies first."
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] "I don’t need Dareios to keep you from doing something. I can handle that myself, thanks." Sam scoffed playfully, feigning a little bit of hurt that she thought he would do something the like. "You know I could stop you right there, shock you so you faint, and then carry you all the way back to your cohort," the brunet said with a click of his tongue and a playful wink. As he said that he stood straighter, squaring his shoulders. He didn’t necessarily mean it but it would be an option if the need arose. And hopefully, it never would. He wasn’t the biggest fan of hurting others deliberately but if it had to be done then he would.
He winced audibly when she told him where they were going, or where she was planning to go. "On second thought… a hot date suddenly sounds much better than getting my legs chopped off," he said, trying to browse his memories of Procrustes. Sam never was the best when it came to lessons regarding Latin, history, or just anything that involved reading. He barely remembered the lore about him but he definitely remembered the part where he cut off someone’s legs if they didn’t fit on the bed. The curse of being tall. He looked down at himself, kicking a random pebble with his foot before a shudder ran down his spine at the thought. "You know who also knows about the Underworld? Espen. Why don’t you ask him? He’s the son of the god of the Underworld." he asked, lifting one inquisitive eyebrow at the redhead.
Once they were out of the tunnel and passed through the magical wards of the camp which always left behind a weird tingling sensation on his skin, the sort that made you shiver and felt like a thousand ants were crawling over your limbs, he took a deep breath. Sam always welcomed the air outside of camp, dirty with city stuff but also filled with the scent of possible rain. He held out a hand in front of him as if to grab on something invisible but he was just testing the energy around him. "Oh? So being out here scares you but going to a legit monster to ask for help doesn’t? Why...-" Sam paused and thought for a moment because he couldn’t think of the name. "Why don’t you go to this medicine dude? As…As-something. Wouldn’t that make more sense? You know... medicine... healing... that stuff." He wondered why her decision was related to the Underworld. It would never have been the first thought to cross his mind but then again… he wasn’t sure what exactly would have crossed his mind if he was in her shoes.
Sam blinked at her slowly as if he didn’t understand what she just said to him before his lips cracked into a grin full of mischief. "I know. And yeah I think you’re being stupid but that’s why I’m sticking with you so we can be stupid together." He fumbled around in the inner pocket of his jacket, looking for something. Before she even asked he already whipped out his phone, a brand new model which was sent to him by his mom. He never actually got around to using it because they weren’t allowed to make calls since it would attract monsters. But he could text and he could use the Uber app to order them a car. After tapping the screen a few times he gave it a nod of approval and looked back at Kadence. "Problem solved. Uber will be here in a moment," he told her, gesturing down the highway a little where they were supposed to meet the car.
Shoving his hands into the pockets of his jacket he walked down the road slowly, glancing around their surroundings just in case. A guard habit he supposed. "That’s an easy issue to take care of. What about Pro… Procrustes? Do you know where he is exactly? And more importantly… do you mind if we stop for Starbucks on the way?"
