Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

Standing in front of the sink she had scrubbed her hands until they were raw. The blood from Morrigan had stained them and now she very much felt like Lady MacBeth, out, out dammed spot. She had dried tears on her cheeks, and it had taken a lot for her to leave Morrigan's side, but mostly, she was just blaming herself. Not only for stabbing Mor, but for everything. If the visions would just stop, if she knew how to fix things, none of this would have happened. MOrrigan would not be in a coma, Dareious wouldn't have been upset and having to run things alone at the moment, and she wouldn't have hurt two people she loved more than life itself. She had had enough, of it was time she did something about it. [break][break]
Two days later, she had a plan, she was going to go and find something to help Morrigan, she would go into the Underworld and get her out herself if she had to. She was not going to let this happen, not going to let the legion suffer because their augur had stabbed a praetor. No. She was not going to let it happen. She was back in her room, having finally been released from the infirmary, but she had not slept since. Kade just couldn't sleep when she knew that Mor was back at the infirmary in a damm coma because of her, and her stupid visions. She took a sip from her water glass and looked up at the ceiling " you think for once father you could maybe NOT let something like this happen? JUST FREAKING ONCE?" she was letting her anger consume her, she knew that, but she couldn't take it anymore. Throwing the glass hard against the wall it shattered into a million pieces, the last bit of water streaming down the wall in little rivers. [break][break]
Grabbing her bag she shoved some things she thought she might need into it, her dagger sat on her desk and she glared at it. She knew she should take it, shouldn't go unarmed, but its last target had just happened to be one of her best friends. " poop.." she mumbled but grabbed it anyway, shoving it into its sheath and then into her bag. She really should bring a bow, but that would be way too obvious. Especially as she had every intention of sneaking out. Pulling on her jeans, boots a top and black leather jacket she quickly pulled her long red locks up into a high pony tail. Glancing at herself in the mirror she sighed at the dark circles under her eyes. Nothing to do for it, not right now anyway. [break][break]
Now was the getting out without anyone Dareios figuring out she was leaving on some potentially life changing mission. She had to get Morrigan back though, no matter the price. She didn't deserve this, she didn't deserve to be stabbed just because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Kade was going to fix it, she had to. Slipping out of her place she headed up the path making it look like she was going to the temple, that would not be at all unusual if someone saw her. Though as she reached the steps she glanced around quickly then took a sharp right, heading for the tunnel to get the Hades out of there and find the help she needed. There was a shop downtown where a monster knew a lot about the underworld, and that was where she was heading. That was until she heard her name as she slipped into the tunnel. [break][break]
Sighing, she rolled her eyes and looked back, " No, Sam, go back. I have to do this. Don't you dare go tell Dareios either." she hitched her bag up on her shoulder and started walking again, hearing him coming right after her, " You really aren't going to let this go are you?"
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] The news about one of their praetors being unconscious and in some kind of magical coma state spread like greek fire. And it reached Sam's ears even faster since Morrigan was his half-sister. No one really knew what was going on or how this could have been possible but it already happened and there was seemingly nothing to be done about it. Or at least that's what they were told. Children of Apollo and Trivia took a look at the situation but they said all that was left was hoping for the best. If there was one thing Sam never did was to hope because he never wanted his hopes to be shattered into pieces so better not hope at all from the get-go.
Then there were others who were clinging to hope as their only source of strength. Hazel eyes watched the augur made her way towards the path leading up to Temple Hill, but when she didn't continue that path as he had thought because praying to their parents and the other gods was a normal thing to do for demigods, Sam decided to follow her. Kadence wasn't usually much of a troublemaker but tonight he had a feeling that she might be one in the making after all that happened.
Sam thought she was going to New Rome, maybe ask someone there if they could help, but he followed her all the way to the tunnel, one of the other entrances and exits of camp. "Kade!" he called out, his voice echoing through the damp tunnel. He came to a stop, listening to her, and scratched the back of his neck. "Uh, Dareios really is the last person I want to talk to no matter the topic. And really? You think I would snitch on you?" He was a tiny bit offended by it and it took a good two seconds before he continued walking behind her.
Kade was easy to catch up to and with a little jog, he was falling into step right next to her. "I don't know where you're going but I'm not letting you go alone. Good for you I didn't have any plans for tonight. So-" he said, turning his head to look at the road ahead of them as they walked out of the tunnel, the city in the distance under the hills. "Where are we going?"
Sam was one of her best friends, but she knew that he was going so that he could try to protect her. She wasn't stupid, she knew he was going to be protective, and she loved him for that, but she also didn't want something to happen to him. If it did, then that was one more thing weighing on her conscious, one more bit of pain she had caused people that meant the world to her. It was almost too much for her to bear. Though she also knew if she even bothered with arguing with him anymore that it was just not going to get them anywhere. She was going to have to just suck it up. He was going to have to come with her, or she was going to have to turn back. The second, was not an option. [break][break]
" If you thought it would keep me from doing something, then yeah, you probably would." she was totally half hearted in the answer, knowing full well that he wouldn't. He would try to talk her out of it, but snitch? Never. She sighed as he caught up to her and glanced over at him. " What no hot date tonight?" she smiled a little hoping that she really wasn't keeping him from doing something that he needed to. " I was planning to go to Procrustes, he knows about the underworld and I think he can help us get Morrigan's soul back to her body. She's in that bed because of me Sam, and I have to fix it. I just have to." she swallowed down the knot in her throat and looked up at him, expecting him to tell her she was crazy. Nothing new for her really. [break][break]
Seeing the city below them when they stepped through the tunnel she took a deep breath. She had not been out of the safety of the camp since she got there. " The last time I was out of camp I was with Lupa." she looked up at Sam. " Kind of scary now that I'm out here." she pulled her jacket tighter around her body trying to keep herself in check. " You don't have to come with me if you think I'm being stupid. You know that right?" she chewed on her bottom lip as she saw the lights of San Francisco out in front of them making the night sky glow with an amber light. [break][break]
Licking her lips she took her first step into the world outside of the camp boundaries. " Ok..so first mistake, I didn't think of our transportation problems. Should we take a cab? Would that even be safe?" she wasn't sure if he had been out of camp anymore than she had. Maybe this was a bad idea, but she wasn't going to let it stop her. She couldn't let it stop her.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] "I don’t need Dareios to keep you from doing something. I can handle that myself, thanks." Sam scoffed playfully, feigning a little bit of hurt that she thought he would do something the like. "You know I could stop you right there, shock you so you faint, and then carry you all the way back to your cohort," the brunet said with a click of his tongue and a playful wink. As he said that he stood straighter, squaring his shoulders. He didn’t necessarily mean it but it would be an option if the need arose. And hopefully, it never would. He wasn’t the biggest fan of hurting others deliberately but if it had to be done then he would.
He winced audibly when she told him where they were going, or where she was planning to go. "On second thought… a hot date suddenly sounds much better than getting my legs chopped off," he said, trying to browse his memories of Procrustes. Sam never was the best when it came to lessons regarding Latin, history, or just anything that involved reading. He barely remembered the lore about him but he definitely remembered the part where he cut off someone’s legs if they didn’t fit on the bed. The curse of being tall. He looked down at himself, kicking a random pebble with his foot before a shudder ran down his spine at the thought. "You know who also knows about the Underworld? Espen. Why don’t you ask him? He’s the son of the god of the Underworld." he asked, lifting one inquisitive eyebrow at the redhead.
Once they were out of the tunnel and passed through the magical wards of the camp which always left behind a weird tingling sensation on his skin, the sort that made you shiver and felt like a thousand ants were crawling over your limbs, he took a deep breath. Sam always welcomed the air outside of camp, dirty with city stuff but also filled with the scent of possible rain. He held out a hand in front of him as if to grab on something invisible but he was just testing the energy around him. "Oh? So being out here scares you but going to a legit monster to ask for help doesn’t? Why...-" Sam paused and thought for a moment because he couldn’t think of the name. "Why don’t you go to this medicine dude? As…As-something. Wouldn’t that make more sense? You know... medicine... healing... that stuff." He wondered why her decision was related to the Underworld. It would never have been the first thought to cross his mind but then again… he wasn’t sure what exactly would have crossed his mind if he was in her shoes.
Sam blinked at her slowly as if he didn’t understand what she just said to him before his lips cracked into a grin full of mischief. "I know. And yeah I think you’re being stupid but that’s why I’m sticking with you so we can be stupid together." He fumbled around in the inner pocket of his jacket, looking for something. Before she even asked he already whipped out his phone, a brand new model which was sent to him by his mom. He never actually got around to using it because they weren’t allowed to make calls since it would attract monsters. But he could text and he could use the Uber app to order them a car. After tapping the screen a few times he gave it a nod of approval and looked back at Kadence. "Problem solved. Uber will be here in a moment," he told her, gesturing down the highway a little where they were supposed to meet the car.
Shoving his hands into the pockets of his jacket he walked down the road slowly, glancing around their surroundings just in case. A guard habit he supposed. "That’s an easy issue to take care of. What about Pro… Procrustes? Do you know where he is exactly? And more importantly… do you mind if we stop for Starbucks on the way?"
She hated it when Sam was right. Even more so that he knew her so well. Sometimes she could swear he could read her mind, know what she was thinking before she did it. Maybe that was how he had managed to know exactly what she was doing, or she assumed he did. Sam could read her like a book, and it was rather annoying at times. " why does that not surprise me in the least. You always seem to have that ability. You sons of Jupiter can be quite a pain in the butt sometimes you know." she teased him gently. "The shock is a little of a violent plan don't you think? When you know full well you could easily just toss me over your shoulder and I wouldnt' be able to fight that. You are so much stronger than I am." she wasn't trying to sound like some ridiculous damsel in distress, even though she felt like people were constantly having to take care of her. It was true though that Sam could manhandle her with no problem, she could fight if she had to in a battle situation, shoot a bow like there was no tomorrow, but her true power unfortunately just lay with her visions.[break]
"Well with that pretty face I'm sure you can have your pick Sam." she winked at him and shook her head. She knew what he had been through with relationships in the past, but she always thought that Sam deserved true happiness. He was a great guy, he treated her with nothing but respect and she believed that any girl would be more than lucky to have him in their life. Of course, she didn't want to give him a big head, didn't want that ego to sky rocket. Though she was sure it already was pretty huge, she just was going to have to let him have this one. She chewed on her lip as he brought up Espen, she didnt' really want to involve any other campers with the potential of hurting anyone else, that was why she was even reluctant to let Sam go with her. " I don't want anyone else to get hurt because of me. That includes you you know. You really don't have to come with me Sam." she gave him a serious look and sighed, knowing full well she was fighting a losing battle there. [break]
Kade rubbed at her arms as they passed the border, much like Sam was feeling, she had that tingling sensation running over her skin making her completely feel out of sorts. She fidgeted for a moment until she just let it go, not concentrating on the way she felt instead just concentrating on what she had to do. She turned to him and shrugged, " I try not to fear the things that I can't change, and right now, I know what I need to do. Even if that means confronting one of the oldest monsters in San Francisco." she frowned and ran her hand over the back of her neck, " You know I can't explain a lot of what I see or know. It's just...there. I feel like Morrigan is hovering just at the doors of death, and if we dont' get her soon, we won't get her at all. I don't know how else to explain it." she swallowed down the knot in her throat again and looked up at him, her green eyes calculating, wondering what he might be thinking. Was she crazy? Quite possibly. Did her gift finally push her over the edge, most likely. [break]
" What would I do without you?" she laughed at the idea of them being stupid together, but in truth, they really were making a huge choice here by leaving the safety of camp to go out into the world without even telling anyone. She chewed on her lip for a moment, " Should we have left word with someone or do you think they are just going to think we ran away together never to return?" she made the horrible joke and looked up as he dug in his pocket, when he pulled out his phone she had to smile. Always prepared, that was what she could count on with Sam. " Look at you, the total hero package." she grinned, " Thanks Sam." she walked with him down the hill towards where they were supposed to meet the car. [break]
Kadence nodded, " I do actually. He runs a bed store in downtown." laughter escaped her again and she nodded, " Oh we can most definetely get coffee. I am sure we will pass about thirty two Starbucks between here and the few miles into the city. I could use it just as much as you can I'm sure. Maybe a bagel too." that sounded really good, a bagel with cream cheese, breakfast of champions. The car pulled up and she glanced at Sam as the guy greeted them, she made sure the sticker was on the back window proving he was a driver before sliding into the back seat letting Sam slide in behind her.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Hazel eyes wandered around the area as he walked alongside Kade down the road. "You try not to fear the things you can’t change and I try not to take back decisions I’ve made. Therefore, you’re stuck with me now. Bummer huh? No one got hurt because of you and no one is going to get hurt. Especially not me, Sam Darnay." Sam assured her, giving her a small pat on her shoulder as they walked down the highway, a car passing them from time to time, headlights illuminating the street around them.
On days like these, their lives seemed overly complicated, sad, difficult, painful. He had tried to hide the pain that crossed his face for hopefully no longer than a second at the mention that he could have a pick and choose anyone he wanted when in reality he only wanted one person and no one else. Unfortunately, even with his pretty face he still couldn’t have her. Sam pursed his lips, going back and forth between cracking jokes and being serious when Kade brought up Morrigan, although she was the whole reason the two of them had left the safety of Camp Jupiter and were on their way to ask a monster for help.
He looked down at her, eyes meeting hers, his lips curling up into a gentle smile. "You don’t need to explain anything. Don’t worry. I know better than to prod anyone about their strange abilities. We’re all demigods. If we have one thing in common it’s being strange." He made a face as he spoke, a crease forming between his brows. Shaking his head he poked her softly against the shoulder. "Morrigan is still hovering at the doors, she hasn’t gone through yet." Sam was hoping to somehow lift his friend’s mood. Not for himself but for her sake.
His face was glued to the screen of his phone as he opened the app with the U on it, tapping several buttons and entering names of streets etc. Clicking his tongue he smirked at the screen in response to her question. "Without me? Without me you probably wouldn’t have made it past the tunnel entrance," he said, winking at her and holding up the brightly lit phone screen, giving it a small shake. As he continued to type in all the information because he hadn’t made use of the service in a long time and stupid mortal updates needed him to re-enter all his personal information and bank accounts, he thought about her next question but ended up simply shaking his head. "Eh, if anyone who knows me notices that I’m gone they will most likely think I snuck out… again. You know how I stand on the whole rules thing. I’m not necessarily known to stick to them all the time." He chuckled, rolling his eyes at her. "You’re welcome."
The son of Jupiter followed her closely, mimicking her checking to make sure it was the driver they ordered. He greeted the guy back, giving him a quick once over. Looked like a regular mortal… but a demigod would know better since monsters could take any shape or form, even one as an uber driver for whatever reason. He slipped into the car after Kade, pulling the door of the car shut next to him. Taking in a deep breath he for once welcomed the strong smell of a car air freshener, immediately feeling more normal again. Cars were such a mundane thing that he almost forgot about it, not having been in one for such a long time.
Rubbing his hands eagerly together he glanced between Kade, the driver, and the street ahead of them. "Coffee and bagels. Sounds good. I would die for a cinnamon bun right now," he commented, his stomach letting out a soft but barely audible growl. As they drove down the highway into the city Sam tapped his thighs. "I’m sure Procrustes won’t expect two demigods stepping inside his store with coffee and bagels," he laughed a little, keeping his voice down so the driver wouldn’t pay too much attention to them and not accidentally overhear their conversation.
"This new movie script is great. Perks of being an actor." Sam lied, raising his voice ever so slightly, eyes flicking over to the driver before he winked at him, clicking his tongue again and overly dramatic-ly running a hand through his dark waves. The driver seemed to ignore him, continuing the drive. It only took about half an hour until they crossed the bridge and then they arrived in San Francisco.
Opening the car door he slipped out, holding it open for Kade to get out as well. The driver had already been paid via the app and drove off the second the door was shut again. Sam whistled, taking a look around the street they were dropped off at and as he turned, a green mermaid greeted him almost instantly. Pointing a finger at the building he grinned at Kade. "Oh look, it's almost as if he knew." Without hesitation he stepped closer, the doors sliding open as he neared the motion sensor. Fancy.
He was greeted by air-conditioned air and the smell of coffee which he gratefully inhaled deeply. And then his eyes fell on the cinnamon buns. Sam waved at Kade, strolling towards the counter to place their order. "So, plan for the day... coffee, bagels, monster slaying, saving lives. The usual demigod business." He said to Kade before looking around the rather empty coffee shop. "To go sounds good? We can eat on the way to... the bed guy."
Kade rolled her eyes but smiled up at Sam anyway. It was nice to have someone with her. Sam always had her back and she loved the Hades out of him for it. " OK, ok I get it. I guess I am stuck with you. Though yeah, Morrigan is lying in a bed in the hospital wing because of me. I'll blame you if you get hurt though, since I gave you the chance to back out." she knew full well that she would still blame herself. Though for his sake, she shut up and just let him believe what he wanted. It was pointless to argue with Sam Darnay, he was as stubborn as she was.
Her abilities were definitely strange, even for a child of Apollo, though Sam was incredibly strong, and she only wished she could have his abilities over her own any day. Though she also knew that he was in much more danger being out here than even she was. The monsters could smell that power radiating from him, and she kept her eyes peeled as they walked down the road, afraid that something might burst out of the bushes at any moment and attack them. Truth was, she was glad Sam was with her, because if he wasn't she wasn't sure she would make it back in one piece anyway. " I guess you are right, we are all strange aren't we?" she took a deep breath when he reassured her about Morrigan. He was right, she was there on the edge, but if they found a way to help her, then she would feel much better about it. " You're right, just don't let that go to your head, can't have you thinking you are all knowing." she teased him as he prodded her shoulder.
" Hey, I could have figured it out. Could have just tramped my way down the road and maybe hitchhiked if I needed to. I would have figured it out eventually." she couldn't have his head getting too big, they had to fit in the car still. " wonder if anyone will even notice we are gone?" she knew that Sam had snuck out much more often, but she never really had. She was usually just in the temple. Would anyone even care if they were gone? She had no idea. Though it was probably likely that they would notice before long. She had been keeping vigil at Morrigan's bedside since it had happened, so it was bound to be noticed. " rules were made to be broken right?" she grinned up at him, Sam towered over her, and it was hard not to notice that fact.
" Sweets are the key to your heart are they Sam?" she laughed, " Or at least to your stomach." she teased him, watching out the window, staying close to Sam without even realizing she was doing. He made her feel safe, and she had not realized how much she needed that at the moment. " No I'm sure he wouldn't notice." she swallowed the knot in her throat, watching the driver and grinned at Sam as he played it off, " Its going to be an interesting movie for sure. " She watched him as he fussed with his hair. He really could pass for an actor with those charming looks of his.
Kadence climbed out of the car as Sam held the door for her and moved out of the way so that he could shut the door. Her eyes found the mermaid as well and she giggled. " Something tells me we are not the first ones that have made this trip, though I am suspicious, thinking that you have been to this particular location yourself before." she licked her lips and looked up at him, knowing it was very likely that Sam had indeed visited this Starbucks.
Following him into the cold air conditioned building, she sighed happily as the smell of coffee invaded her senses. " Gods that smells good. Yeah all of that, um..." she glanced up at the menu then back to Sam, ' We can have them here, then decide what to do next." she was starting to feel a little anxious about the whole thing, and maybe just enjoying the coffee for a moment would help.
