The son of hades tossed and turned in his bed with discomfort as the voices of dead Greek campers combined into a vengeful cacophony in his dreams. ” I didn’t do it okay!?…. F*ck off” he cursed at the ghosts that haunted his dreams, but that didn’t deter them in the slightest. A few of the campers that had died in the camp half-blood fire were angrily holding him down against his will. Dozens of charred and skeletal hands grabbed him from every angle and choked or scratched him until Oliver finally woke up in a cold sweat. His breathing was elevated, and he was beyond pissed at this point. ” another f*cking nightmare.” his words left his lips with a sigh while he slipped out of his bed silently. Once he was out of bed, he knelt down next to his bed and reached under it to pull out his pack of cigarettes and a lighter. Then he proceeded to sneak out of his cabin.[break][break]
Once he was outside, Oliver paused to think about his nightmare while enjoying the cool night breeze. He inhaled and exhaled the fresh air while looking around a bit to make sure the coast was clear. When he was sure no one was around, he pulled one cigarette from the box and placed it between his lips, and lit it. This wasn’t the first nightmare he had had, and they seemed to be getting worse each night. What annoyed him the most is that these nightmares were being caused by a stupid misunderstanding. Some of the Greeks at camp half-blood had often seen Oliver sneaking out at night for a smoke when he couldn’t sleep, Which was quite often. so when the camp burnt down some of the dead campers automatically assumed he was responsible for their deaths. As a result, some of the dead Greeks often haunted his dreams in search of revenge or an apology, or whatever the heck they wanted.[break][break]
Oliver deeply inhaled the nicotine from his cigarette and exhaled into the night sky while calmly walking toward the mess hall to clear his mind. He knew he wasn’t responsible for the fire, and no matter how many times he told them, the dumb specters didn’t understand him. In all honesty, Oliver was surprised that ghosts could even communicate with him. Despite his heritage, the dark-haired demigod had close to no necromancy powers. His specialty was darkness. From as early as he could remember he had always had a close relationship with the darkness. It healed his wounds, gave him transportation, and did his bidding without question or complaint. The shadows naturally loved his presence and they were all he needed. The only time Oliver could control the dead was when he was in the underworld, so he didn’t understand how these demigod ghosts were communicating to him, or how in Tartarus they had even found him here.[break][break]
He shook that thought out of his head and calmly took another drag of his cigarette as he walked. Although he had calmed down considerably, he was still annoyed at the idea of losing sleep over something he didn’t even do. The son of Hades was guilty of many things, and being a sadistic jerk was definitely on that long list of sins, but even he wouldn’t barbeque his fellow Greek demigods. Well, at least not without a very good reason.[break][break]
After a minute or two of walking, he had finally reached the Mess hall, as expected it was obviously locked. So, he pointed at the door and the shadow of his finger took on the shape of a key that fits perfectly into the lock. After solidifying his shadow, he used the shadow key to unlock the Mess hall. Oliver nonchalantly strolled into the Mess hall while taking another drag from his cigarette, he headed directly for the kitchen and didn’t bother turning on the lights since his night vision was enough to see his surroundings clearly. The dark-haired demigod began rummaging through the fridge in the dark, while completely oblivious to the ghost that was angrily hovering over him. The malicious spirit looked around at its surroundings and began plotting its revenge on Oliver while he blissfully stole food from the fridge. The door to the Mess hall had been left wide open because Oliver knew that if someone with authority walked in, he would simply use the shadows to conceal his presence.
