Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

Some days were harder than others. Today just so happened to be one of them. It was her little brothers birthday, and here she was sitting by the river contemplating what she had done to him. It had been an accident of course, but still, she had killed her best friend she ever had. Her brother had been her life and she had lost him, lost her mother, lost everything and everyone she had cared about then. Every day at Camp she was trying harder to open up to others, but with the exception of maybe Mateo and a couple others, she never really could. People could likely understand if she actually opened up to them about it, but it was hard. Hard to tell them what she had done, the curse that her powers were, and that she believed deep down that anyone that might actually love her some day would end up just as dead as the others. She was cursed, she felt it in her very soul. It was a hard thing to wrap her mind around, but she still felt that way.
Normally, she avoided the river or the pool, today though she figured it was a good place to be in case she lost control of her powers while her emotions were all over the place. It was safer to be near a water source in case she accidentally set something on fire. So far, she was doing pretty well, only a couple little sparks when someone had slammed into her while running past at high speed. She started to say something but as quickly as they had hit her they had kept going. She had simply continued on her way down to the river bank and just settled down into some super soft grass, just watching the water flow slowly by.
As usual, Cel made sure she had some snacks on her, as her powers always drained her she kept them on her person, but today she just wanted the junk to make it through the day, but instead she got some healthier treats, since she couldn't make it into the city to get anything else. Her centurion understood why she needed the day to herself, never questioning it when it came to this particular day. Digging in her bag she pulled out a small ziploc bag with grapes in it, and another with some cheese. Popping a small bite of each into her mouth she closed her green eyes as she relished the taste. She loved that particular combo, the way the tartness of the grapes mixed with the cheese was just, perfection.
She had not expected it when she opened her eyes but there was a shadow standing over her and she looked up quickly in surprise. " Crap you scared me!" she took a deep breath and grabbed her bottle of water and drank from it to keep from choking. Her eyes looked him over quickly, he wasnt Roman, she knew that much, and he was handsome, that was hard not to miss. Those eyes, she found herself having to look quickly away, cheeks pink as she realized she had been staring. " Sorry, I'm not the best at meeting new people, I'm um...I'm Celeste." she gestured to the grass beside her " Was I in your way or..." most people really paid her absolutely no attention so, she felt very out of practice with this.
[attr="class","THREAD1BLCONTENT"] It had been one of those days where everything just rubbed Dylan the wrong way. He’d been trying so hard to just keep his head down and fit in and not let his emotions get the better of him ever since they’d arrived at this place. But it wasn’t easy. Every day he was presented with new challenges as an outsider and his anger that he barely kept in check on a good day, was boiling awfully close to the surface.
He wasn’t sure why coming here had been so hard. It wasn’t like it was the first time he’d had to suddenly start over somewhere new without any notice or preparation. That had been his life until the age of fourteen. He’d moved from place to place on a whim, many times without anything other than the clothes on his back and the emergency pack his mother had always left in the car. He hadn’t understood it then, but he knew now that it had all been in an attempt to keep him safe. But she shouldn’t have had too, that should have been his job. He had created the need for her to have to do what she did and then he’d just walked away without another thought.
Dylan had grown up without knowing the truth, until the day that disaster had struck and he’d killed his own mother. It hadn’t been intentional, he hadn’t even known what he was doing, but that didn’t change the outcome and the fact that the wave he had created had been what had killed her. But he didn’t fully blame himself and one day he would make the other guilty party pay, he just hadn’t quite figured out how. Really, how did you go about punishing a God?
If he had to put his finger on exactly why this felt so different, it had to be because Camp Half-Blood had been home, the only one he had ever really known for any significant period of time and now it was gone. Camp Jupiter would never be home. And then there were these Roman demigods who he had no idea how to interact with and he wasn’t even sure he wanted to. They had been treated like outcasts or invaders since they had stepped foot within the camp’s borders and Dylan hadn’t been able to let his guard down.
And today had been a bad day. He needed to go to the water, needed to be alone in the only place that he knew for certain could bring him some semblance of peace. The water was the only place he felt truly at home, despite the fact that he despised the very reason for it. Dylan made his way to the water, his senses carrying him toward it because he hadn’t quite memorized the way to this particular out of the way spot. As he the bank came into view, so did long red hair and he recognized it immediately. They hadn’t met, but she had already caught his attention in the time that he’d been there. He had only been standing there a moment when she turned around to face him and he realized that he’d managed to startle her.
His gaze met hers before she quickly looked away. Her eyes were ones that he thought he could easily get lost in, just like he could get lost in the sea. She spoke and a slight chuckle left him as he moved to sit in the grass next to her, the water just out of his reach. The effect was still calming and he had to resist the urge to pull the water toward him. ”It’s alright, I’m not the most social creature myself.” he told her as his fingers played in the blades of grass between his legs, pulling some of the accumulated water off of them. ”Dylan.” He told her as he turned his focus back to her once more, his eyes meeting hers again. ”And no,I uh- come down here to get away. The water is calming.” he told her and this time he did pull it toward him, fingers running through it. ”I apologize if I interrupted you.” he said as he released the water to return to its home.
Celeste wasn't sure why, but some people for her were so much easier to open up to than others. She felt like she could trust some of them much more than others for one, but when she felt a vibe from someone that she didn't feel from other people, she thought that maybe they were a good person. She often wondered if her father sent these people into her life that she might not otherwise have met. Mateo was one of them, Aline, other members of her cohort, but even those were few and far between. Now with the Greeks in camp as well, she thought maybe she would have the chance to get to know people before the figured out what had happened to her in the past.
The chuckle that came from the sandy haired boy made a small smile curl up on her lips. He was really handsome, she couldn't deny that. She had a one sided crush for awhile, but she knew it never would have gone anywhere. Now, she was trying to get to know new people, praying to the gods that they would send someone to her that would understand her for who she really was. " Not really a bad thing right? I mean, gives us more time to think when we aren't out partying with people or something." Not that staying in her own head was that much better, in fact it as probably much worse than trying to be social butterfly.
Her eyes followed his fingers, watching the water as he manipulated it. Son of Neptune..well Poseidon she guessed. " Nice to meet you." she was surprised that of all people to come to her it would be someone who totally could negate her own powers if needed. Maybe her father had been listening after all, and sent her what she needed most. Someone to show her that her curse was manageable. Wow. She said a silent thanks to her father and turned her eyes up to Dylan's face. " It can be, even for me, though it can totally take me out. It also helps calm me to know that its there and able to be used if I lose control." she held her hand out in front of the both of them and flames danced merrily along her fingers and palm.
" You didn't interupt anything but my own thoughts, and they could use the interupting to be honest." she closed her fingers and the fire went out as he had the water move back to the river. They were two sides of a whole without even realizing it before they officially met. " I have seen you around camp a few times. How are you adjusting?" she tucked her hair behind her ear and looked over at him again, " Son of Poseidon I'm taking it?"
Dylan surprised himself by actually moving to sit beside the redhead but something told him that he should, that it didn’t matter that she was Roman, that he probably wasn’t going to be at this camp long enough to make any connections. Something inside him told him to sit, told him to try, and that didn’t happen all that often. There seemed to be something about her presence that just soothed something inside him.
Now, Dylan wasn’t one to ever believe in the crap that people came into our lives for a reason, because he had never seen any proof of that. Well, there was his half-sister Mila, but he would never admit that he’d come to need her in his life. He hadn’t been the most welcoming to her when he’d found out about her and even less when he’d found out about the different level of involvement that Poseidon had in her life compared to his and just how different things had been for her. But she hadn’t given up on him, hadn’t taken his crap and now she was someone that he felt had his back and he’d have hers. So maybe there was something to that after all.
As he sat he played with the water a way to soothe his soul. Most times it was a subconscious thing, he didn’t even realize he was doing it, but this time it was intentional, a need he couldn’t ignore. She said it was nice to meet him and he let a chuckle leave him. ”You say that now, but give it time.” He watched her as she spoke and he could see something in her eyes that maybe she didn’t let too many others see. Worry? Insecurity? He understood that, he covered it all with an attitude that made it seem like he didn’t really care about anything. His brows furrowed at the end of her sentence ”Lose cont-” he started to ask but before he could finish, the flames erupted from her hand and blue eyes widened slightly. Daughter of Vulcan Interesting how she would be the one that he seemed to feel drawn to.
He watched her snuff out the flames as he released the water back to the river and a slight huff left him. ”Sometimes I can’t wait to just be alone with my own thoughts. People just, they tend to disappoint.” he told her. He knew that sounded a little rude but it was true and he wasn’t usually one to hold back with the things he said. ”I’ve seen you too, that red hair is hard to miss.” A smirk crossed his lips and he shrugged in response to her question. ”It’s been challenging, let’s just say it hasn’t been the most welcoming welcome mat. But it doesn’t matter, probably not going to be here long anyway.” He knew they were just guests here, that the Romans didn’t plan on letting them make the camp their home, it was just a matter of time before they overstayed their welcome and would have to move on. Nothing he wasn’t used to. His eyes tracked the movement of her hand tucking red strands behind her ear before they met hers again and he felt every muscle tense at the sound of his father’s name. ”Unfortunately.” he said in response to her observation about his godly parentage. ”But I guess the powers are pretty cool. He said as he summoned a good sized wave to the shore and when he released it some of the water splashed on them both. ”Or possibly the daughter of Vulcan wouldn’t think so?” he questioned with the raise of a brow because he knew he could cancel out her power if he had to, and she knew it too.
It was a little shocking when Dylan actually joined her. Most people just shrugged her off and kept going, but here he was, not even knowing her from one of the many fish swimming in the river, and he joined her, right beside her in fact, as if they were the best of friends. She didn't mind, it was nice for someone to actually sit down with her. She wasn't sure what it was, but she felt like they were supposed to be there right now. That they were meant to meet, after all the drama between the two camps, here they were. Sitting togehter on the bank of the Little Tiber, a Greek and a Roman demigod. Strange, but not at all unpleasant.
The way he toyed with the water, making it obey his every whim, she was entranced by. It was really cool to see someone able to control their power like that. She was getting better, but it was still so difficult for her. The thought crossed her mind for a moment that maybe he would be able to help her if they were in camp long enough. If he had control over the water, and she lost control of her fire, he could easily put it out, and no harm could be done. The words were sitting there on her tongue, but she didn't want to go sounding like an overly eager idiot either.
" Trust me, it's better that I'm away from all of that. Too many people in a small area." she wasn't going into that particular ball of wax right now. No time at all and her story might have him running for the hills for his very life. Avoid the cursed girl like the plague and all that jazz. Clearly, she had thrown him off his guard for a second with the merrily dancing orange flames in her hand. He had not even finished his question and she looked over his way, wondering if he was going to run for it now or not.
Biting her lip she nodded in agreement, " Suppose its easier to not be disappointed or hurt if you just avoid people in general." she swallowed and her blue green eyes looked him over, " So why sit by me then? Out of sheer, morbid curiousity. I mean, you could have just ignored me and kept going. That is what most people tend to do." She blushed brightly as he commented on her hair and glanced down at some of the strands. " I suppose it is. I never really thought about it I suppose, but, it is kind of a beacon isn't it?" she tucked some of it behind her ear so she could see him better.
Nodding she sighed, " I'm sorry that its been difficult. I know that everyone can be kind of....tempermental at times. Don't let it get to you. There are some really good people in this camp." him saying he wouldn't be there long though stung her for some reason she coudlnt' quite understand. " You should stay as long as you can. It's after here than anywhere else out there. At least, from what I know." she had seen so many things on her way here, so many monsters in the shadows.
She did not see it coming, when he summoned the wave she felt it wash over her and she blinked, gasping a little. " oh yeah...must be nice..." she shivvered a little. " that was freezing..." she gave him a little shove, laughing, as she looked down at her now soaked clothes. " Honestly? It's nice to have someone around that could put me on my butt if I lost control." she admitted softly. " I will have to pay you back for that you know. It might just come when you least suspect it." Cel teased him, her eyes filled with mischief. " Not every day someone catches me that easily off guard."
