[Adaptable] [break]Dylan grew up in many different places and often had to move quickly. This has made him able to adapt to new situations fairly easily and that can be very helpful in the heat of battle. [break][break]
[Focused][break]Once Dylan sets his mind to something, he is not easily swayed away from it. He has made it his mission to learn all he can about his abilities as the son of Poseidon and to one day make his father pay for the death of his mother. [break][break]
[Independent] [break]Dylan has never had anyone else to rely on in his life besides his mother. He grew up having to take care of himself and he never had much chance to get too close to others. Now that his mother is gone, he feels like the only person that he can count on, is himself.[break][break]
[Protective][break] Dylan has lost so much in his life that when he does find someone or something that he cares about, he will do everything in his power to protect it.[break][break]
[Loyal][break] Dylan doesn’t let people close because he has always had to let go of those that he does. But if he does let you in, he is loyal and will stand by you through anything. [break][break]
[Patient][break] Dylan would like nothing more than to see his father pay for what happened to his mother and the way he grew up but he knows that he can’t strike without being prepared. He knows it’s going to take time and he needs to have patience. It is also a skill that helps him in battle.[break][break][break][break]
[Impulsive][break] On the flip side, Dylan tends to be impulsive. He doesn’t always think things through before he makes a move. Sometimes it works out in his favor, but more often than not it’s detrimental. [break][break]
[Tempermental][break] Dylan is angry at the world and he doesn’t hide it. He can keep it reigned in for the most part but people tend to know that they shouldn’t mess with him. His temper can be on a hair trigger and it’s best to just leave him alone. [break][break]
[Arrogant][break]Dylan comes off as arrogant, he tries to act like he's better than everyone else because his father is one of the Big Three. So he acts like he's this big shot, but really it's all an act to cover up that he's actually insecure. [break][break]
[Insecure][break]Dylan doesn't think that he's good enough to be a son of Poseidon, that he could never measure up to the power that his father weilds. In truth, he never can because he s just a demigod. He wasn't able to use his power to save his mother and that is always in the back of his mind and as long as he can't let go of that, it will hold him back. [break][break]

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]BIOGRAPHY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
“Bright blue eyes like the sea.” That’s what your mother had always said. Eyes that reminded her of your father, a man you had no memory of. All you knew of him was that he and your mother had a romance that had been doomed from the beginning. The two of them came from two different worlds and no matter how in love they had been, they could not be together. Your father had left because he had to, not because he wanted to. The rules of his world dictated that he could not remain with her, with you, so you were left to grow up without him. No matter how much you pushed your mother for more, she wouldn’t give it to you, she said the full story was hers and hers alone and it was better that you didn’t know.[break][break]
Life wasn’t easy growing up. Your mother never found anyone else who she wanted to be with, who could accept the challenge of another man’s child. You also moved from place to place, never spending too long in one place. You lived all over the world, small, remote towns and large, bustling cities. You never understood why your mother was always on edge, why she never felt safe in one place, why she was always unable to settle. All you knew was that she was your only constant in an ever changing world, the one thing that you could count on. [break][break]
You struggled in school. The constant moving was part of it but you also suffered from a couple of disabilities. ADHD and dyslexia were ever present. Your teachers looked at you and saw nothing but disruption, trouble, and laziness. When in truth you just couldn’t sit still, your mind and body had to constantly be in motion. You worked on impulse instead of taking the time to think things through and a lot of times, that got you in trouble. You hated classes because you struggled to understand the material. It wasn’t because you were stupid, quite the opposite. You were intelligent beyond the comprehension of your teachers but you couldn’t show it with tests and assignments because your brain wasn’t wired to read and comprehend the words on a page. [break][break]
Friends were always hard to come by because when you did finally make some, you had to leave them so eventually you just built up a wall around yourself and didn’t bother letting anyone in. You felt that you were better off alone and because of that you find it hard to trust others and let anyone close. You don’t know how to truly interact with people because you’ve spent a lifetime pushing them away and keeping your head down.[break][break]
You’ve always loved the water, your mother used to say that if she would let you, you would stay in it forever. It was the one place that you felt peace, the only place you ever felt you truly belonged and you couldn’t explain why. It didn’t seem to come as a surprise to you mother and she made sure that no matter where you ended up, there was water available to you whether that was a backyard pool or an entire ocean.[break][break]
You were fourteen when it happened. You and your mother had moved, yet again, and had landed in Camdenton, MO in a place right on the water on the Ozarks. She had thought it would be a good place to try to lay down roots and you had let yourself believe that this could actually be home. But it all came crashing down one day when you were out in the water. You heard her scream your name and she yelled at you to run, to hide. But even though you had no idea what was happening, you couldn’t leave her behind. You felt the power flow through you, a new and stronger connection to the water that surrounded you. The wave that grew around you was like nothing you ever experienced. You saw her on the beach as she struggled with those that were trying to get to you. The wave grew and roared in their direction, an attempt to free her and save you both. Only you didn’t know what you were doing, or that you were even doing it, so you couldn’t control what happened next. The wave reached the shore and engulfed your mother and her attackers and pulled them into the lake. You looked for her, but couldn’t find her and you knew that you had lost her and deep down inside yourself, you knew that you had killed her.[break][break]
This was when you finally discovered the truth of your parentage, that you were more than human, a demigod. Your father was the Greek God Poseidon and others who wanted to do you harm had been searching for you. As you lay on the beach, exhausted and not knowing what to do next, he came to you, rose out of the water with the body of your mother in his arms. You begged him to revive her, to bring her back, but he told you that he couldn’t, that it wasn’t within his power. He tried to explain things to you, but you wouldn’t give him the chance. You knew all you needed to know. You were the son of a God, one that had left you and your mother and because of him, she was now dead. You wanted nothing to do with him. Anger coursed through you and you wished that you could drown him the same way you had her. But he put an end to the wave you tried to conjure almost as soon as the thought had entered into your mind. [break][break]
He left you there on the beach as he carried your mother’s body away with him and you dropped on your knees and screamed into the vast emptiness that was left behind. When you stopped screaming you found yourself no longer on the beach in the Ozarks but outside the gates of a camp, the sign reading Camp Half-Blood. You were ushered in and everything was explained to you. He claimed you as soon as you took your first step into camp. It didn’t change how you felt about your father though, anger and rage and resentment burned inside you alongside your guilt and grief. You wanted him to suffer and you knew you wouldn’t rest until you figured out how to make it happen.[break][break]
You’ve spent the last four years living at the camp, learning your powers and being trained to fight. You have not seen your father since, although he does speak to you when you are in need of his guidance and you’ve learned the hard way over the years not to ignore him. As much as you hate him, he knows your powers and abilities better than anyone. [break][break]
You thought you had finally found a home with people like you but the unthinkable happened and the camp was destroyed. There had been a traitor among you, one that still has not been revealed, and the camp was burned to the ground. You had tried to put it out, using all the powers in your possession, but it had been out of control by the time you managed to summon the water. You, along with the others, fled your home. Chiron directed you all to Camp Jupiter, your sister camp for demigod offspring of the Roman Gods, located on the other side of the country. You’ve struggled to settle into your new home. Tensions are high, not only because there is a still a traitor on the loose, but because of the strained dynamics between the Greeks and Romans. You have no idea what’s going to happen, all you know is you need to find a way to adapt and thrive and to make the right alliances along the way.[break][break]

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]POWERS, SKILLS & WEAPONS
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
[Hydrokinesis][break]This is the ability to manipulate and control water. Dylan is able to use the water to his advantage and as a weapon in battle. He is able to form large waves and if he tries hard enough he could produce one on the scale of a tsunami. He can manipulate the water into durable objects that seem to obey his will such as fists that can actually punch and a shield that can offer protection to himself or others. Whirlpools and riptides are also in his repertoire but he has yet to get control over those. Also falling under this category are: vitakinesis, being able to heal most minor wounds and poisons when he has contact with the water. The more severe the wound, the longer the contact with the water has to be. Wayfinder , the ability to always know where he is on the water. The coordinates and grid appear to him on the water like they would on a map. He seems to have an internal compass and very rarely loses his way. Water immunity, he doesn’t get affected by the water the way normal people do. He can’t drown in it, he has been known to stay underwater for long periods of time. When out in the rain he doesn’t get wet unless he decides that he wants to and he can come out of the water dry. He’s also been working on extending the immunity to others but has only had very limited success. [break][break]
(weaknesses)[break] His abilities just manifested 4 years ago, so he is somewhat behind the curve compared to his counterparts that have known their abilities for most of their lives. The amount of power he has to use for some of the things he is capable of, leaves him tired and weak. The more power it takes to accomplish the manipulation, the more of a toll it takes on his energy. Control is also hit or miss, he is still learning how much energy he needs to exert for certain things. His emotions also tend to make his power unpredictable. The more heightened the emotion, the more volatile the power. [break][break]
[Geokinesis] [break]Typically this is the ability to control and manipulate the earth but in Dylan’s case it is more about manipulating the water in and under the soil to manipulate the earth itself. He is able to cause the collapse of the soil into trenches if he can move the water in and under the soil enough. He can also manipulate it to cause cracks and fissures in the earth as he pulls the water away in different directions. He’s been told that if he tried hard enough that he could possibly cause earthquakes with his manipulation but he has only just scratched the surface of this ability.[break][break]
(weaknesses)[break] This power is a much more difficult one to control and it takes much more energy than it takes to use hydrokinesis. If he does manage to accomplish one of these abilities, it tends to tire him out to the point of exhaustion. It once knocked him out for two days when he tried to do something that required so much energy, he depleted all he had. It takes great concentration and will to do what he wants and even then it doesn’t always work in his favor. Headaches are typically on the menu of side effects when he does attempt the use of this ability beyond what he is currently capable of. [break][break]
[Cryokinesis - limited][break]This is the ability to control and manipulate frost, ice, snow, and cold temperatures in general. Because Dylan is a child of Poseidon he has this ability but it’s very limited. He can turn water into ice if he concentrates hard enough. He was able to make an ice spear once but had been unable to replicate the power again. He has also tried to manipulate the snow but has been unable to get it to do what he wants, probably because rain has been an issue as well. [break][break]
{weaknesses) This ability is mostly limited to turning water into ice. It doesn’t cause as much of an energy drain as the other abilities because it works in conjunction with them so the energy is already being exerted. It requires a lot of concentration for him though and he doesn’t always think to use it as he’s more focused on the initial ability. [break][break]
[Lesser Poseidon abilities/characteristics][break]
(zoolingualism) [break] Because Poseidon is also the father of horses Dylan can speak to them along with marine animals.[break][break]
(heat resistance) [break] Dylan has a higher than normal resistance to higher temperatures and burns.[break][break]
(superhuman strength, durability, agility and reflexes)[break] Being the son of one of the Big Three, Dylan is stronger, faster, more agile and more durable than a regular human. [break][break]
(dyslexia) [break]His brain is hardwired to read ancient Greek and it comes easily to him but when English is involved, he struggles to read it.[break][break]
