Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

[attr="class","scroll"] It had been exactly six days since Oliver’s run-in with the beautiful daughter of Dionysus, and today was the seventh. Oliver made his way to little Tiber in the afternoon, to meet her again as planned. Dani had been stuck on his mind the past few days but not for the reasons a normal person would expect. Sure, she looked amazing, but that wasn’t what made him think of her. No, it was her easy-going yet adventurous demeanor, the chaotic energy that literally seeped through her pores, and the darkness he could see in her eyes. Those were the things that made her linger in his mind. These things made her stand out from all the women he had met before and made her quite the unpredictable individual, which he enjoyed. During the past six days, Oliver had trained with his powers consistently in order to identify the reason for his power’s malfunctioning when he was with her last week, he really didn’t want to accidentally harm her and further any stereotypes about the children of hades that most campers already believed.[break][break]
Yet despite his consistent and meticulous training over the past few days, he identified no problems with his powers at all, in fact, the more he used them, the more his allegiance with the shadows grew stronger. He was confident that what had happened the other day would never happen again, so an easy-going aura emanated off of him as he made his way to their agreed rendezvous point. As the sunset, the shadows grew stronger and so did his power. The darker his surroundings became, the more his movements became effortless and smooth as if he was literally skating over the evening shadows on the floor instead of walking. The entire time, he couldn’t help but recall the look in her light blue eyes and her chaotic energy that made him homesick for the underworld. He didn’t understand how such intimidating features matched so well with her delicate face, but he didn’t really have to know.[break][break]
Today he wore a pair of black formal pants, a white long-sleeved shirt, and a black sweater on top of the shirt. He accentuated his outfit with a few chains made of pure silver that decoratively hung from the belt loops of his pants. He also wore a ring made of pure silver on each of his middle fingers and a third silver ring on his left pinky finger that had a skull on it. One of the benefits of having a father who ruled all that resided under the earth was the ample amounts of precious metals he had at his disposal. Oliver had always admired silver and platinum for reasons he himself couldn’t understand, gold and diamonds were never really his thing. He hated the color of gold and found diamonds far too flashy for his liking. But silver, silver was just perfect.[break][break]
Oliver wasn’t exactly the most up-to-date with the fashion of today, but he was able to easily transition from his Victorian-era formal wear to something more modern quite easily. He always had a few dark tones in his outfits and he always found ways to incorporate formal articles of clothing in his outfits out of habit. Most of his tastes in clothing were influenced heavily by his training as a young noble back in his day, but his affinity for jewelry was something he had adopted after a year of living with his father in the realm of the dead. His father had never shied away from using accessories, and that was something Oliver seemed to adopt the more time he spent around him.[break][break]
He arrived at little Tiber ten minutes before the time they had agreed on and made his way to the river where he had initially met her. Instead of sitting by the riverbank like last time, he leaned on a tall tree and enjoyed the feeling of being covered by the tree’s shadow. Oliver calmly listened to the soothing sounds of the river flowing while remembering how abruptly he had left her last time. Due to his past behavior, he didn’t know if she would come or not. He wouldn’t have blamed her if she decided not to come considering his skittish departure last week. So, he decided that if thirty minutes passed and she didn’t show up then, he’d take it as a no and continue on his own. His monthly pack had already been delivered so there was no reason anyone would notice that he wasn’t present at camp for at least a weekend.

As the days had passed, Dani's previously bright mood had sunk further and further as she felt the loss of the nicotine. On top of that, Oliver had not been subtle in the least about avoiding her, not that she had been seeking him out, anyway. She still wasn't sure what his quick escape had been about, and as the days passed without him seeking her out, Dani's patience with him had grown thin. She would have given him a piece of her mind (and maybe pushed him up against a wall because angry make out sessions were always fun), had she actually been able to find him. Then again, Dani hadn't exactly tried too hard, either.
Now, though, there was nothing left on her mind but to get out of camp like Oliver had promised. She didn't know if he would still want to go with her, considering how he had left so abruptly last time and she wasn't sure if he had just been polite, but Dani figured even if he wasn't there, she'd just go on ahead and sneak out herself, anyway. It was with this sullen, bleak mood that Dani picked her way through the forest again, heading towards the creek she had found last time where Oliver said he'd meet her. The entire five-minute walk there, the madness ruminated in Dani's mind, as always ready to charge at a moment's notice.
To her relief, she saw Oliver's silhouette before she actually got to the creek. She hadn't realised just how much she was actually looking forward to this outing - but she truly did. Dani needed to let loose, probably find some smokes, and if available, alcohol. If there was some mortal party that she could gatecrash, she'd do it, too. Literally anything was better than this dreary camp with too many rules and too much combat training and not enough Romans who could spice up her life and take her on an adventure. At least she had Oliver - she couldn't imagine how much more she could take living in Camp Jupiter if her madness didn't have a friend in the son of Hades.
As she stepped closer, she could better appreciate Oliver's outfit. Dani wasn't a particular purveyor of fashion, but she could appreciate when something looked good. Her eyes travelled appreciatively down Oliver's body, not in the least bit ashamed about her obvious ogling, before grinning at the other demigod. "I think I'm underdressed," she told him, amused, opening her arms to display her own outfit in full. The red Letterman jacket she'd picked up at a party some time during her high school years and had just kept since then - finder's losers, after all - was big on her petite frame, the pale blue jeans tight against her legs, and a pair of unbranded and slightly beat up sneakers on her feet. She didn't have a lot of clothes left since camp burned down, but she sure as heck wasn't going anywhere with her orange Camp Half-Blood shirt.
Dani wasn't sure where they'd end up going, so she decided to dress as normal as possible. Her curly blonde hair hung loose and heavy about her shoulders, shifting slightly in the breeze, and Dani stuffed her hands in her pockets and hunched over slightly against the chill. She stepped closer to Oliver, her eyes on his face, wondering what was going to be next; was he going to act like their last meeting had never happened, or was he going to say or do something? Dani didn't much care either way, but she needed to know what boundaries the male demigod was going to set. While Dani had no problems setting fire to said boundaries, she also didn't want to do it if it meant Oliver would leave her behind. Dani needed to get out, and if Oliver had control over shadows, he might be able to use his abilities to get them out of camp, or at the very least, hide them as they tried to sneak past the guards. A lot of Dani's escape hinged on Oliver; getting out by herself would be a little bit trickier.
[attr="class","scroll"] It had only been a few minutes since Oliver had reached their meeting spot. His hands were shoved in his pockets for warmth as he leaned his back against the large tree he had chosen, then he stared off into the distance. His dark hair swayed back and forth with the breeze, but he hardly noticed it because his mind was preoccupied with more important things, like planning the trip. A part of him wanted to see what had become of his home after all these years, but he quickly decided against it, some things were better off left alone. At least for the time being.[break][break]
Mostly because He didn’t want this trip to be about old memories, Oliver was more focused on learning about the outside world and having fun. So, he began thinking about other cities he had read about, cities that were preferably on the same continent he was on now. Because just like with any other mode of transport, the distance was a factor he had to consider when he shadow traveled. [break][break]
So, he finally decided on San Francisco. Although he had read a few things about it, he didn’t really know much about San Francisco. He hadn’t the slightest idea how it would look, but due to seeing it on a map a few times he had a very general idea about how far it was and its approximate direction from here. His train of thought was completely derailed when he heard the faint sound of rustling bushes disrupt the silence. When Oliver looked in the direction of the sound, the first thing he noticed was long curly blonde hair, the sight of Dani brought a small smile to his previously broody face without him even noticing it. Then there was a moment where both Demigods took each other in with their eyes, Oliver hardly noticed her looking at him since he was busy ogling her as well. He particularly liked her oversized jacket. The way it hung over her small frame looked cute.[break][break]
When she finally commented about being underdressed, he arched his eyebrow slightly with an amused expression. Sure, he didn’t know much about modern fashion, but to him her outfit looked good. ”really?.... Underdressed? You do know we aren’t going to a cotillion right?” he spoke with a teasing smirk. He had always disliked formal social gatherings and other events that nobles hosted out of boredom. He usually spent a few minutes dancing with a partner or two at the beginning of the event, then he’d disappear with a bottle of scotch or rum for the rest of the night. Back then he was in his early teens, so booze had to be stolen at parties where adults were too busy gossiping and bragging to notice. [break][break]
From the moment Dani had appeared, his eyes couldn’t leave her. When she stepped closer to Oliver, he pulled his hands out of his pockets and gently placed them on her hips. Without a word, Oliver calmly began pulling her body closer to his until their bodies were only a few inches away from being pressed against each other, then he finally spoke. ” I’m glad you came, Dani.” his voice was calm, his speech slow and effortless while his hands rested comfortably on her hips. Being this close to her made it easy to lean down and kiss her if he wanted to, but he chose not to. Not yet. It was still only four in the afternoon. They had a whole night ahead of them, so Oliver was in no rush at all. for the moment he just enjoyed holding her close and feeling the mysterious chaotic energy emanate from her like an alluring cologne. ” I hope you know a few fun places in San Francisco…. I haven’t been to a good party in three lifetimes. So don’t hold back any of the good places.” he spoke while looking at her playfully. He didn’t even know what a good party looked like these days, he hoped he had chosen a guide who was familiar with that sort of thing. [break][break]
After speaking he pulled her in even closer until their bodies were lightly pressed against each other. Although it seemed like he was being forward, Oliver had pulled her closer to make sure she didn’t slip out of his grip while they shadow traveled. Although Oliver had used that power plenty of times, he didn’t really understand how this ability worked or what happened while he traveled from one shadow to another. So, using it with someone else added a lot of unknown variables. ” alright, so I haven’t used this ability with another person before. So hold on tight I guess… if you slip away or something like that, I’ll come to look for you in the underworld.” he wasn’t even sure she’d end up there if she slipped away while they teleported from one place to another, it was all just speculation.[break][break]
Immediately after he had spoken, the shadow of the big tree he had been leaning on darkened and swallowed them both up. For a second they were surrounded by pure impenetrable darkness that even Oliver couldn’t see through. For just a second the entire world melted away and stopped existing as everything was dark and silent. Then a second later they were surrounded by the bright lights of a foreign environment. Oliver was no longer leaning on a tree but on a random building. His eyes quickly scanned the environment, but there was too much for his senses to take in all at once. His eyes were bombarded with more lights and people than he had ever seen before and the massive buildings that surrounded them almost blocked out the sky. He had read about things like these before but seeing them in person was completely different.[break][break]
Books didn’t do the world justice. Everything here moved, had lights, or made sounds and Oliver got lost in trying to take it all in. At that moment, he removed his hands from Dani’s hips. His eyes, nose, and ears did their best to take in everything around him, from the internal combustion engine vehicles to the weird dress codes and the architecture of the city. ”Dani… Are we in the right place?” he asked her while still looking around a bit confused. Instead of his confusion turning into anxiety, it had become curiosity.

The look in Oliver's eyes were familiar. Dani hadn't been a stranger to the male gaze, not for years. She had tried as often as possible to catch it, after all, considering she had a strong desire for attention and being popular. Or she had been when she had been a young teenager; these days, males were just a means to an end, a distraction to enjoy but never get attached to. Still, the feel of Oliver's stare on her body sparked the familiar prickling over her skin, and Dani felt a little light-headed from it. She had missed this, this being alive and wanted. And he was different from most others - he wore his darkness on the outside, too. It felt like two versions of shadow, circling each other.
The rising relief and bubbling... elation that she had been feeling at the sight of him stuttered a little at the unfamiliar word. Cotillion. Was he speaking in another language to her? Dani vividly remembered his age, a very disconcerting fact whenever it showed so obviously like it did just now. Her eyebrows scrunched together as she asked, "What the heck is a cotilli-thing? No, wait, do I want to know?" The daughter of Dionysus easily disregarded the thought as she allowed herself to be distracted by Oliver and the feeling of his hands on her body - the closest they'd ever been considering they hadn't exactly touched a lot when they were kissing last time, before the flames had appeared and they'd both forgotten what they'd just been doing.
She was only a few inches shorter than the male demigod, so Dani tilted her chin to keep her eyes on Oliver's own shadowed ones. Dani stood waiting, feeling the madness in her rejoice at being in close proximity to a familiar host; she made no attempt to control it, and it swirled happily, oozing out of her pores and into the gentle afternoon. Her closeness to Oliver had her body tense, ready for whatever the male demigod might do next, but Oliver did not take her face in his hands like she'd thought he would. Instead, he talked, and Dani was confused, wondering if she was receiving mixed signals or if Oliver preferred her to take in charge.
"Wouldn't miss it," she replied, actually meaning it, because no way would Dani ever turn down the opportunity to get out of camp. Not only would it mean escaping Romans and Greeks and powers and tension and demigods in general, it would also mean illicit indulging. It would mean freedom, and Dani had been rattling the bars of her metaphorical cage for far too long. She needed to be out of camp weeks ago.
She shrugged, curly blonde hair flying slightly over her shoulders. Dani didn't know all that much about San Francisco, but all the cities were the same - it was like she could follow the scent of alcohol and puke to the best places in the bowels of the centre of urbanization. "No, but it'll be fun to explore and get lost. It'll be an adventure!" And by the gods, Dani was itching for an adventure. She couldn't wait to taste all of the various things one could find on the streets of a city. San Fran would be no different; the aesthetics and the culture and the vibe might be different, but Dani had no doubts it would be just as easy to find things to keep her entertained for days.
Oliver pulling her closer to him had her automatically reaching out to anchor herself to his body. At first, Dani thought he was finally going to show if he was disregarding their kiss or not, but instead the son of Hades talked about possibly slipping away into the void and Dani's excitement rose even further. She really should have been more nervous or concerned at Oliver's seemingly casual tone about what could go wrong, but Dani had never backed away from complete recklessness - this was just another thing she'd be keen to experience. "Possibly slide away into oblivion - you really do sell your powers, don't you?" she quipped, even as her fingers tightened on Oliver's shirt as she followed his instructions. Did she really trust her life in the hands of this boy she had known for a grand total of half an hour, an hour at most? Why, of course.
And then the shadows descended upon their forms, and before Dani could fully appreciate the idea of shadow travelling, the world around them came back into screaming focus. The sounds were the first things Dani heard of their new environment: it was traffic. Blessed mortal traffic. It was the sound of thousands of tyres and crowds of people and music blasting away into the twilight and the distant wail of a police siren. It was the sound of life. And then the smell hit her, and it was disgusting and foul and yet so welcome after months of nothing but demigod stink. No child of Demeter or Persephone or whatever else flower god there existed would ever let any kind of camp they lived in to smell dirty. Now that Dani was back in an urban jungle that smelled of stale piss and garbage and mold, she realised just how much she had missed living somewhere normal.
Luckily, they had arrived in a bit of an alley, so they hadn't completely scared any random mortals like they would have if they'd appeared anywhere more public. Dani untangled herself from Oliver just as the male demigod pulled away. Any thought about what had happened or still could happen with her companion was promptly pushed aside as Dani led the way to the mouth of the alley, lips slightly apart in slight surprise at being back in the middle of civilization, just like that. Her cornflower blue eyes had darkened slightly as her pupils expanded in the shadow of the alley, and they reflected the sparkling lights of the buildings and signage around them as Dani looked up and around, heart soaring and madness floating as she took in the sights around them. This must have been what Alice had felt like when she'd stepped into Wonderland; really, Dani wanted to raise her arms and do a spin, right there on the sidewalk, not caring in the least about what others might think of her. Belatedly, she remembered Oliver only when he spoke to her, and she turned back to him, the sparkles still in her eyes and a wide grin on her mouth. "I don't know if we're in San Fran, but it doesn't even matter because this is the right place."
[attr="class","scroll"] This woman never ceased to amaze him, the quip she had shared before they shadow traveled still lingered in his mind because the timing of her quip amused him quite a lot. In the face of potential death or being lost in unknown worlds, she looked completely calm, and she had the composure to make a joke instead of worrying about the millions of things that could have gone horribly wrong. This situation reminded him of the first day he met her when she decided to stick her finger in a mysterious black flame with little to no hesitation. Cleary the blonde demigod was the kind of person who walked into the unknown and said “honey I’m home” instead of fearing the unknown, and Oliver loved that about her. He had only known her for about an hour or so and he already knew she was the perfect partner in crime. Even now, as they stood in a random dimly lit alley in a foreign city, surrounded by strange sounds and even stranger smells she seemed completely unphased. Instead, she was excited and ready to explore their surroundings.[break][break]
Oliver calmly stood in place with his hands in his pockets and simply enjoyed watching the confidence in her step as she walked to the mouth of the alley, the blonde demigod was clearly in her element now. On the other hand, Oliver took his time to think and collect more information about the world around him before he made any moves or decisions. He knew they would need a good amount of money for comfortable accommodation, good food, some smokes, and some partying. So, he began reading every sign and flyer in his vicinity while slowly following Dani to the mouth of the alley in hopes of seeing some kind of opportunity to exploit. When Oliver reached the mouth of the alley and stood beside the daughter of Dionysus, one sign particularly caught his attention, and it was a sign that had the word “Jewelry” on it. Immediately his eyes darkened, and a small smile made its way onto his face as his mind cooked up a scheme.[break][break]
When Dani turned toward him with a newfound sparkle in her cornflower blue eyes, Oliver was surprised. He hadn’t seen her face light up like this before, but he definitely liked it. He enjoyed the way her eyes had come to life, and the grin on her soft pouty lips had almost cast a spell on the son of the underworld as he listened to her confirm that they were in the right place. the son of Hades was glad to hear that she had no problems with their current location since he knew he wouldn’t be able to shadow travel with her again for at least an hour or so. Surprisingly, shadow traveling for two was a lot harder than he had expected. ” I’m glad you like it here, I wouldn’t want to explore this place with anyone else.…..you trust me right?” he said the last part of his sentence while eyeing the jewelry shop beside the alley again with a wolfish grin on his face. Oliver had heard the saying “Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat” before, but for him to shadow travel right next to a jewelry shop while he was broke felt like Fortuna wasn’t just favoring him, She was actively trying to get him into bed at this point.[break][break]
After a brief pause, he continued speaking. ” Dani, I’d like you to help me pick out an engagement ring.”. The mere sentence sent an uncomfortable shiver down his spine, which was saying a lot since he had witnessed the worst forms of punishment in the underworld without batting an eyelash. So, for a mere statement to make him uncomfortable was an impressive achievement for the English language. The shiver that ran down his spine was a testament to how ridiculous certain mortal norms really were to him, or maybe it was a testament to his own selfishness. As soon as the discomfort faded he used his eyes to show her the jewelry store. [break][break]
” We can walk in there together and pretend like we are looking to buy an engagement ring in order to identify the most expensive ring they have in there. Immediately after we have identified a mark, we will make sure they see us return the ring in its rightful place and leave. I’ll handle the rest.” He looked into her eyes to try and read her face for any reactions to his plan because he completely understood that he was asking for a lot. ” I promise I won’t let anything happen to you. I would also understand if you aren’t up for this.” he spoke to her calmly while looking into her eyes and gently grabbing her hand. He brought her hand up to his lips and gently placed a kiss on it to assure her that he didn’t mean to put her under any sort of pressure. He was basically asking her to help him case a jewelry store which was something most people would have ever agreed to. So, he would understand if she wasn’t okay with this.[break][break]
Oliver had never really stolen much in his early life due to his family’s wealth. The only things he had ever stolen were alcohol from fancy events that his family hosted, and occasionally he would “borrow” his grandfather’s tobacco pipe without asking. So, he had little to no experience in doing things like this. Despite his lack of experience in thievery, he seemed as calm as usual and looked toward his companion to wait for her answer to his strange proposition.

Despite her craziness and the automatic metal-edging of her tongue and the pettiness and the way that she preferred others to hurt than have her hurt, Dani could appreciate the pretty things in life. Of course she could, and had - it was how she had always ended up flirting with any mildly interesting boy who looked her way. Sure, she had always done it out of entertainment rather than any true feelings or attachment, but it wasn't as though she went with literally any Tom, Rick, and Harry. The prettier, the darker, the better, and Oliver ticked all of those boxes. So when he met her gaze with an intense one of his, telling her he wouldn't be here with anyone else and asking her if she trusted him, of course Dani was going to go along with it. She had played the part of adoring sidepiece before, it was no different now.
She was just about to respond in kind - because Dani was nothing if not gracious when it came to flirting - when Oliver asked her to help pick an engagement ring and her mind nearly stuttered to a halt. She didn't know if this was another thing that Oliver hadn't shed from three hundred years ago, but that whole sentence was just all sorts of weird. Did that mean he wanted to pick an engagement ring out with her, for her? Or was he wanting help with an engagement ring for someone else? While neither sounded particularly palatable, Dani would gladly take the latter if only because she would not be the prime candidate for any sort of engagement - and also because it would be crazy fun chaos to mess around with someone else's love life.
Still, for clarification, Dani felt the need to ask, "What?" It was probably uncouth of her and not very ladylike for someone who was three hundred freaking years old, but considering the suddenness of the situation, Dani felt she could be excused. Also, she was not a lady and had never aspired to be, so courteousness could hang itself on a noose. The daughter of Dionysus was about to repeat her question with a little more emphasis, when Oliver began to explain his plan for what could only be termed as a heist, and Dani found herself smiling as he talked. Finally, when he grabbed her hand and kissed her fingers, she burst out laughing, loudly and with her whole body thrown behind it. She thought she had heard her fair share of crazy ideas, but never one quite like this, and by Tartarus, she was ready for it.
Fluttering her eyelashes at him coquettishly and pouting her lips, Dani smirked at Oliver before commenting, "I hope that wasn't your version of a marriage proposal, Mr Belmont. Where have your manners gone?" And so saying, she turned and began walking towards a slightly more crowded area, not too far from where they'd come out, but at least not in a rank old alley. As they reached a slightly busier street, Dani looked around, her hand still holding on to Oliver's. She could see a pretty domed building, but it looked to be another bit of a walk, perhaps too far from the shop that Oliver had already spotted. Shrugging her shoulders, she turned to the son of Hades and flashed him a grin. "Do you want to get down on one knee or shall I?"
It was probably not the greatest idea considering they looked entirely too young to be wondering about by themselves in this rough neighbourhood, and they were sure to attract the wrong attention soon enough, but Dani had always been fearless. She could knock a man flat on their back if she so desired it, her power seeping into every nerve of their brain and force them to do something they normally wouldn't do. She could make them get on their hands and feet and yap around like a dog, chasing an invisible tail. She could break their minds as easily as cracking open a peanut shell; of course, it would take her a lot of energy and she wouldn't want to spend this very promising and fun evening laid up looking like a vegetable. Besides, if anyone or anything dared attack them, she had no doubt Oliver could hold his own, too.
The daughter of Dionysus turned now to her soon-to-be fake-fiancee, smirking uncontrollably as she waited for his decision. Part of her wondered if he'd be the three-hundred-year-old gentleman that he was and let his social norms dictate his next move, or if he'd want to see her on her knees instead, literally. Dani was fine either way, considering this was just part of an act. Sure, they could have walked into the jewelry store with just their plan in place, but Dani liked to think she could have been a method actress. Besides, to be fake-married sounded like the most hilarious thing ever, and Dani was always up for crazy. The madness bubbled along in her veins, amplified by her exhilaration at both being out of the demigod camp as well as the madcap idea of her companion.
[attr="class","scroll"] Oliver was pitching an idea that would have them both acquainted with the gallows should they fail, assuming outlaws were still hung once proven guilty in the modern world. But the idea of potentially being caught and executed didn’t bother the son of Hades in the slightest, he had stopped thinking of himself as a “living human” years ago anyway. Oliver had long grouped himself in with the walking dead because he had become devoid of all earthly connections, and because he primarily existed to entertain himself and satiate his cravings, like a zombie that only existed to find sustenance and feed. He had no cause greater than himself to serve, no code of honor to abide, no heroic quest to pursue, and he was glad to be free of such burdens. Oliver was content leaving burdensome ideals like that to the children of Zeus or Ares. He preferred living for nothing but his own entertainment because living like a zombie was blissful, unrestrained, and quite fun. [break][break]
But while Oliver was unphased by the potential risks of his plan, he didn’t know if the daughter of Dionysus would be equally willing to risk being hung or enduring whatever manner of execution society utilized to rid itself of outlaws in the world of today. So, when he heard a rather confused and surprised “What” slip out of her lips, he assumed she was backing out, which was okay. He wouldn’t have held it against her in the slightest if she had decided to back out. But then, just as he was about to ditch the idea of having her help with this idea, he was pleasantly surprised when he saw a smile make its way onto her features the more he explained his plan to her. Shortly after he had finished explaining, Dani burst out into a peal of loud and hearty laughter. For a second or two the son of Hades was confused, but he was glad she hadn’t called him crazy yet.[break][break]
He was unsure if she was backing out or not, but when the blonde demigod stopped laughing and began fluttering her eyelashes flirtatiously and pouting her soft pink lips, Oliver assumed those were signs that she was potentially interested in his crazy little heist. But it wasn’t until Dani spoke that he was one hundred percent sure she was definitely in. Her statement about his version of a proposal had honestly taken him by surprise and managed to make him burst out laughing. For once, Oliver wasn’t the cool and composed guy who occasionally smirked from the shadows. She had actually surprised him enough with her craziness to get an honest laugh out of him. It took a few seconds for him to gather his composure before he grinned at her and began speaking again. ” Pardon my forwardness. We certainly have to start this off the right way. Allow me to fix my error.” Oliver still had her hand in his and he was about to kneel down and propose to her on the spot, then he suddenly felt her hand tug at his when she began to walk.[break][break]
He followed her to wherever she was pulling him without resistance, and when the gentle tug of her hand on his had stopped, he knew they had reached their destination. They stopped on a crowded street, where the constant purr and roar of vehicles was more audible, a street where more pedestrians walked beside them and the scent of piss seemed to disappear. The lights of the city shone on them much better from this location, and the multicolored lights from signs around them created an interesting collage of colors in her already bright blue eyes when Oliver looked into them. So, he pulled her in just a bit closer to him while listening to her ask if he would propose to her, or if Oliver preferred it the other way around. In response, the dark-haired demigod arched an eyebrow out of surprise. He had no idea it had become a social norm for both males and females to propose if they wished. This was yet another pleasant surprise from the twenty-first century.[break][break]
A woman proposing in the eighteenth century was unheard of. No man or woman had ever seen or heard of it happening, so when Dani offered to propose, it became quite obvious to Oliver which option he’d go with. There was no way he was refusing the chance to see a woman propose. He had no idea what it looked like or if women did it differently, but he was keen on finding out since he was always open to new experiences. So, he grinned at her, then another chuckle came out of him as he thought about how random a false engagement was. ” there is no way in Tartarus I’m passing up the chance to see something that would have been impossible in my time. So, could you do the honors?” he looked at his future fake-fiancée and winked at her while he prepared himself to play the part of a young man on the cusp of being engaged. He hadn’t done much acting before, but he was sure he’d be decent at improvising. Especially when he had such a good leading lady as his costar.

Dani was a bit surprised that Oliver had requested she be the one to 'do the honours' - she had thought he'd be too entrenched in his old-timey ways to ever even consider their roles being reversed. But Dani quite liked that he was ready go to along with her madness, too, and they both seemed to be having quite a good time just bouncing off each other's crazy. That was Dani's favourite kind of person. While poking fun at sticks-in-the-mud and people who had things shoved up in unpleasant places was also quite fun and funny, it was always far better hanging out with people who not only could appreciate her recklessness, but could also get in on her fun. Having more than one crazy person in a group was always fun, even if the size of the group was just the two of them.
With another laugh and still grinning uncontrollably, Dani pushed strands out of her face as she held on to Oliver's hand with both of hers. She kept her eyes fixed on his as she sank to the ground on one knee, not minding the dirty San Franciscan street in the least. With exaggerated dramatics, she held up his hand clasped between both of hers, and said in a slightly louder voice, "Oh Mr Belmont, from the moment I saw you and you offered me a smoke, I knew we would have many adventures in life together. Would you do me the honour of becoming" - and here, Dani paused for dramatic effect, gasping exaggeratedly and tilting her head to the side before continuing - "my husband?"
She then leaned forwards conspiratorially and pretended to whisper: "You can't actually say no." She laughed again as she waited for his reaction. Their little dramatic act had gathered a few spectators, but no one was commenting about her being the one on her knees rather than the male demigod. Dani wasn't sure if this was how females were actually supposed to propose, but she didn't really care. For one, it was all fake, but even if it had been real, for two it was also no one else's business. If Dani had actually wanted to get married and had wanted to be the one to pop the question, and if anyone dared to comment, Dani would slice their mind in half. This was the twenty-first century - people could do whatever the Hades they wanted. They lived in a free country!
It was an odd segue, and one that Dani wasn't sure she enjoyed. The daughter of Dionysus was sure she would never get married. She never wanted to get attached to anyone, and besides, she didn't even want kids. Her life was already a bunch of crazy and she didn't need to add to it. She already fought with the monster in her veins, always threatening to take over her mind at any moment; she didn't need madness in the form of tiny versions of her running amok. Besides, that involved looking after them, feeding them, caring for them - Dani didn't have the time nor the inclination for it. They were sticky and smelly and too small and fragile. The hazy image of small fingers taping a child's drawing to a fridge swam in her mind, and Dani forced it away viciously. This was her night of craziness - she was not going to let her past interrupt her present.
Oliver had barely given her his answer when Dani immediately stood up and reached for him. She needed a distraction now, before the memory could force itself into her brain and impact her mood for the rest of the night and maybe even the rest of the week. Almost desperately, her hands flew to Oliver's face, fingers of one hand running smoothly and automatically to the back of his head and digging into his hair, the other resting on the side of his face as she pressed her lips to his. It was not as gentle as their first kiss in the forest, which now seemed so long ago. No, this time Dani was running from something, and she sought to drown in the sensation of something else - anything else.
Her madness reacted along with her, also reaching for Oliver just as much as her fingers had. It seeped out of her skin and permeated the air around them, and if Dani had been paying attention to the small gathered crowd around them, she would have noticed them immediately start hollering, their emotions rising along with the show she had just put on as well as the craziness she had just started exuding. But the daughter of Dionysus was too hellbent on her singular goal, and it was only a sharp, piercing whistle from one of the bystanders that served to catch her attention and bring her back down to earth. As she pulled away from the son of Hades, she opened her eyes to look at the son of Hades, wondering if she had just crossed a line, curious if she cared or not. Her pupils were dilated in the darkness due to his proximity and the low light, the madness practically a solid force in the cornflower blue of her irises.
[attr="class","scroll"] Oliver maintained eye contact with the daughter of Dionysus as she got down on one knee and held his hand between both of hers. The son of Hades could occasionally see the madness flare-up in her eyes, which made her cornflower blue eyes look even more lively and attractive to him. The moment Dani knelt on one knee, almost every pedestrian around them stopped in their tracks and looked at the two demigods with interest. The wide uncontrollable grin on Dani’s face amused Oliver and caused a small smirk to make its way onto his features as well. While the two demigods used their eyes and grins to communicate how funny they thought their little façade was, the rest of the crowd saw them smirk and grin at each other and assumed it was out of excitement or desire. This caused more people to join the crowd that was observing the two demigods.[break][break]
The moment Dani began her proposal the crowd moved even closer until the two demigods were encircled by a large crowd of curious mortals. But Oliver hadn’t paid them any mind, he was too busy internally laughing at the overly dramatic tone in Dani’s voice as she delivered the proposal. He had never heard her speak like that before, and he was currently doing everything he could to restrain himself from bursting out into laughter. Luckily, the crowd seemed utterly enthralled by her dramatic acting. The moment Dani paused mid-sentence for dramatic effect, Oliver could almost feel the crowd holding their breath in suspense. Then, when she finally uttered the word “husband”, a chorus of “aaaaaawws” echoed from every direction while some members of the crowd began to comment on how cute it was.[break][break]
A slight chuckle escaped Oliver’s lips after hearing the crowd’s aaawws, then he placed his free hand over his chest and put on a surprised facial expression so he could play off his chuckle as part of being surprised. When she discreetly whispered to Oliver to inform him that saying no wasn’t an option, he laughed a little but quickly regained his composure. Then, the members of the audience quickly stopped their conversations about how cute the proposal was, the crowd fell silent in anticipation of the dark-haired demigod’s answer. Oliver looked at the daughter of Dionysus and decided to take a page from her acting book. He gave a brief silence to raise the suspense until people in the audience began hollering ” Yes!.... say yes.[break][break]
However, Just before the son of Hades could give an answer, Dani suddenly stood up and reached for him. One of her hands ran through his dark hair and the other rested on the side of his face as she began to enthusiastically kiss him. At that moment, the world around Oliver faded away and all he focused on was the familiar feeling of her soft lips dancing with his. The moment the kiss began, his eyes closed, and his hands instinctively reached out and tightly groped Dani’s butt. Then, he pulled her in while kissing her back with the same level of enthusiasm and passion he felt from her. As their kiss deepened, Oliver groped her behind with an even firmer grip. He could feel the darkness within him embracing her madness, which caused every shadow around them to darken, it also caused a light beside them to flicker on and off momentarily before both demigods pulled away from the kiss.[break][break]
The son of Hades could hear the loud hollering, clapping, and whistling of the crowd around them, but when he opened his eyes after pulling away from the kiss, the only thing he looked at was Dani. He could see her madness staring back at him through those cornflower blue eyes, and he could feel that alluring chaotic energy seeping through her pores. So, he smiled at both Dani and the madness hiding behind her eyes. It was odd that the darkness she usually tried so hard to suppress was part of what had drawn him to her in the first place. As he calmed down from their kiss, the shadows around them returned to their natural light shade of black, and his darkness stopped interfering with the light beside them.[break][break]
Oliver began getting back into character. His hands still rested on her behind as he began to give an answer to her proposal. ” Well, That wasn’t a fair proposal. How’s a man supposed to say no after a kiss like that?” he spoke with a calm smirk on his face while removing his hands from her butt, then he continued. ” Yes, I’d be honored to call you... my wife. Now, how about we get you a ring, then get some drinks to celebrate? “ he leaned in to kiss her on the forehead. Then he held her hand and began leading her through the crowd that had encircled them, so they could make their way to the jewelry store. while they walked at a calm pace he looked at her curiously, "I assume the guy takes the girl's last name if she proposed right? just know, I'm not taking your last name if its something generic like Smith... Oliver smith doesn't quite have the same ring to it." Oliver used this as an opportunity to understand more about modern culture and find out what his new fake fiance's last name was.

It was all for a show, of course, Dani was well aware of that. Oliver had some plan cooked up, and she was always down for any kind of crazy ride. But still, the feel of her in his arms, of his hands on her back and his lips on hers - it was Dani's favourite kind of drug. The warmth and proximity and sheer excitement that was palpable in the air, partly their own chemistry and the mingling of their darkness together and partly the audience around them, it all fed Dani's madness. Her lips curved upwards in a smile even as they continued their dance with Oliver's, the euphoria and the strangers' celebrations around them serving to act like champagne bubbles in her veins. It didn't matter to Dani in the least that some complete random had just taken a photo and she didn't even know who, it didn't matter that they were in the middle of a fairly unknown city, just two demigods in a sea of mortals and possibly monsters. There was nothing in those few minutes but Oliver.
It was only when they had separated and the son of Hades spoke that Dani realised she hadn't even waited for an answer to her 'proposal'. She laughed gleefully as he finally said yes, the sound of her laughter drowned by fresh hollers and cheers from the crowd around them. They should probably go on with the rest of their night with a little less exposure considering two demigods probably smelled stronger to monsters, especially as Oliver was the son of a Big Three, but Dani was hardly thinking of any kind of danger. Oliver was slow in putting more distance between them, and for just a few moments longer, Dani reveled in their proximity and the show they were putting on. If this was what it felt like to get or give a proposal, she could understand why people wanted to get married - and then divorced - multiple times, over and over again.
When Oliver grabbed her hand and began leading her out of the centre of the crowd, she intertwined her fingers with his, still putting on the perfect just-got-engaged-couple act. There were plenty of wide, innocent, 'can't believe this just happened!' grins at the various strangers congratulating them. This was such a high, and Dani nearly stumbled as they finally departed the scene, laughing the whole time like she couldn't believe they'd just gone through that. Any and all thought of Romans and Greeks and camp politics and their whole heritage was just a distant blip in Dani's mind as she sought to drown herself in the euphoria of the night.
Her companion seemed to still be in the roleplay they had found themselves in for the jewellery heist, and Dani only giggled again before replying, "No, there's no rules on taking last names. You can take mine - which is Lennox, by the way - or I can take yours, or we can just keep what we have." She shrugged, the ends of her blonde hair moving from her shoulders at the movement. It hadn't been the best idea to wear the heavier letterman jacket, after all, because she was feeling a bit warm now from all the excitement and adrenaline, but it didn't matter. Perhaps it would get colder later on in the night. As they walked back towards the jewellery store that Oliver had seen, Dani swung their joined hands, bright smile on her face. It felt so freeing to be back out amongst the mortals with nothing and no one to worry about.
As they neared the entrance of the store, Dani lifted Oliver's arm and wrapped it around her shoulders, switching hands so one hand still remained tangled with his while her other snaked around his waist and rested in the pocket of his pants. Acting loved up was nothing new to Dani, and the dilation of her pupils only served to help with the whole cute and adoring look. Leaning her head on his shoulder, the pair walked into the store looking the perfect picture of a couple who couldn't keep their hands off each other, Dani still with the light blush on her cheeks from the whole situation outside. A mischievous idea entered Dani's mind as they began slowly wandering around the store, tilting her head on Oliver's shoulder to press gentle kisses on the side of his jaw and on his neck. Would he be able to concentrate on whatever idea he had if she kept distracting him?
