Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

It wasn't even a question- Nathan was entering the Hand to Hand event at the Camp Olympics. As soon as the Camp Olympics events were announced, he was pretty sure at least a dozen pair of eyes (at least) swiveled in his direction. Nathan knew he wold have to sign up for it, since everyone knew that it was 'his event' at that sort of thing. Ever since he was twelve years old, he had a natural gift/talent as a wrestler- in Greco-Roman style wrestling (of course). Whenever he could he practiced with other Roman campers in the Palestrae in Camp Jupiter with other campers. In fact he had even started training some of the smaller younger ones as well. That was cool. Nathan enjoyed seeing them getting better at it as they trained more and more, well as gain more confidence in themselves.
On thing about the event did trouble Nathan though... "They might as well called it what it really is" he lamented in his head as he warmed up for his first match of the event. "It should be called the 'Pankration' event" he thought. Not that it really mattered to Nathan. He just didn't like the idea of being kicked in the head is all. Well...you live and learn. Life with out awkward challenges was a boring life. Besides- get kicked in the head (or anywhere else) and you learn real fast not to get kicked again. The match going on in front of him had been going a long time- longer than he expected it to. The two fighters were pretty good and Nathan was not opposed to going up against either of them, regardless of whichever one won the match. Rolling his shoulders to loosen up and moved about to warm up- his match was up next and he wanted to be ready. The kid he was up against was a Nemesis kid and Nathan knew these kids always had a good sense of balance- it would be hard to take this kid off balance in their match. So Nathan really had to reach deep into his 'bag of tricks' and come up with a strategy to deal with that.
Grown men grappling was not exactly her thing, but she had decided to do spears later and stayed around to watch and see what came about it. Everything was going well from what she could see as she stayed on alert. As part of the first she did her best to set a good example and see what people did and how they behaved. Those who messed up would be punished in the end as they were being bad. However it seemed uneventful she thought as she drank her water and looked over at the boys wrestling and then Nathan who was one of the best at camp at the event, cocking her head she frowned.
"worried that the new blood maybe ready to show you up Russo?" she asked as she sat down and sipped her water as she wondered what was on the boys mind, "they have some good ones in the greek side, that kid from Mars may tear you apart" she mused as she crossed her legs, she had seen him earlier in the day and he showed promise when it came to the hand to hand from what she had seen he could be a threat in the event. Two matches and neither had lasted long as he had pinned the roman he had come across.
"They are good" she admitted, "this could be better then anyone thought" she mused as she watched the events unfold. She had hoped things would stay busy and that things would be good to bond the two camps as they did everything that they could to make a difficult situation work. Those in New Rome were not happy and she wondered how long that this could make it without slaughtering one another. Only time would tell though she thought, today was about unity she thought as she looked over at Nation, a smirk playing on her lips.
"yea that Mars boy will pin you, I know where my bets going" she joked,
No matter how many times Nathan had gone onto a wrestling mat or walked out into the Ludus to fight another camper, he was nervous. It wasn’t from a lack of confidence, more the tension that builds up in one before battle. He could only imagine he would be like this in a real live war. However, as it was he was entering a non-lethal contest of hand-to-hand combat skill. Nathan many people had their own ways of dealing with the build up tension they felt. Some whistled, some had a pet with them. Personally he stretched. So far it seemed to work, because his whole body felt supple and limber right now.
Meadow comment broke his meditative revere, causing him to glance down at where she sat. “Don’t know…never seen him fight before” he said simply. He wasn’t about to judge someone on how they looked, if he hadn’t seen them fight before. That was just stupid… His eyes turned to the son of Mars she was talking about. “Yeah…he’ll be a tough opponent- it something that bred into him and his siblings. Problem is, it makes him overconfident and that’s where he’ll make mistakes”. And Nathan would take advantage of it in a second. Failing that…Nathan would just do his best to wear the guy down with his superior stamina and hopefully, pick the guy apart. That was the plan anyway…
Meadow wasn’t wrong. Both the fighters competing at that moment were good. Nether was showing signs of exhaustion or injury and both were exploiting the others’ weaknesses. One was definitely not a striker, but he was certainly good at tackling. He already was applying a nasty looking submission hold on his opponent who wasn’t making it easy for him. “Yeah they are…good match I gotta say” Nathan admitted as he watched it all going down. ”Oh thanks for the vote of confidence Star Fish” he chuckled. Having a laugh was also a good way to relieve tension too. “Let’s not decide the match before it even starts, huh? Besides…I am pretty sure I can take him. Just take a little smart thinking on my part”. Yes it would- a son of a god of war was going to be a big challenge to a son of a god of wine….

It was amusing to watch a roman demi god and there pride when they had it and how it went about, her eyes stayed on the field as she frowned. Her eyes stayed still for several moments, "you have not seen many of them fight before, you are bound to see surprizes" she mused, "we caught one cheating earlier with a jacket on, hid his hands and used it to make the sand wet" shaking her head she sighed, "knocked the referee on there gluteus maximus to" there was disappointment clear in her voice, "a son of mars no less getting involved we are putting him on punishment tomorrow" today was to enjoy she thought, they were suppose to have a good time and see what happened she thought.
Looking at the boy she shook her head, "nah not him, hes simple enough" she mused, "he always leads with his foot, watch which way he goes and you know his approch" she mused, "watch" she gave a nod as it happened, "no the one you have to be careful with was out here earlier. He has been hanging around the Greek Venus girl, Aurora" she brushed her hand through her hair as she looked over at the fighting, "He is the one that she waited for, and everyone thought dead. Now? he's here and from what the whispers are he changed after the battle at there camp" she rubbed her leg as she sipped her water which expanded in the cup "rumor has it he gained the blessing of daddy dearest" she mused it was a big deal with those Greek or Roman, a blessing from a god caught her attention.
Looking over when he mentioned the bet she smirked, a small laugh came from her "is that so?, you think you have such a great chance" she smiled, she was not being cold as she looked over "I think I will double my bet on that Greek Kid" she stood and walked over to a bookie and did so right in front of Nation, before she came over with her ticket and put it in her pocket, "careful Russo, your overconfident and they may give you more trouble then its worth" she was being honest, although she had placed her bet on the Greek Kid she would be amused if they did find one another in the arena.
It would be stupid for him to underestimate or overestimate another camper when it came to combat. He had gone up against campers he thought were more skilled or less skilled than him. Had seen it happen to others too. Each time he had been pleasantly or unpleasantly shocked at the results. “That’s true…” he agreed as he bounced on the balls of his feet to keep warm.
Nathan gave Meadow a confused sideways view when she said they caught a camper cheating with a jacket it. Upon being told what happened, he scowled. “What a jerk!” he said. Some people have no honor, that they resort to cheating.
He had no idea who the referee in question was, but he was pretty sure the person who did would get their just deserts for what they did.
Hmm….Meadow was right now that Nathan looked at the camper in question. He did lead with one foot and Nathan knew exactly what he had to do to use that fault against him. “Yeah- I see that. Thanks…” he said. It was good to have someone as an extra pair of eyes when it came to scouting an opponent in a match.
Nathan eyes scanned the crowd for the guy that Meadow warned him of from before. At the mention of the daughter of Aphrodite- Aurora, his head snapped back to Meadow with a slightly angry look in his eye for a second before reality set in. He had meet Aurora at a secret midnight party that was held by Third Cohort in their barracks one night. Nathan wasn’t sure completely, but he was pretty sure that there was a connection between him and her that night. Certainly he changed her manner from wallflower to party-goer that night. On a certain level he felt the desire to pound the guy into the ground if he even thought abut getting to friendly with her. Then he realized that she was talking about the guy Aurora was sweet on. Oh…that was different *sighs*. “Oh…didn’t know that” Nathan said now that he as pretty warmed up. Likewise, he reached down and took a sip from his water bottle too. “Heard that she had some guy she was waiting on coming here…” he said.
A smile returned to Nathan’s face. “Yeah…I think I have a good chance in winning here. Even if I don’t win, I know whoever beats me won’t be in a hurry to go up against me any time soon”. That was true. Whether it was a local wrestling meet as a little kid or in one-on-one sparring in the Ludus, even if he got his butt kicked Nathan gave more than he received. That was one of the things that contributed to his confidence. Who cared if Meadow wanted to double her bet on his opponent- it was just be a bigger win for whoever bet on him and even if lost, the other guy would probably look like hamburger helper once the match was over. Besides Nathan was too good natured to take offense at what could be seen as treachery by Meadow (even if was just her making a smart bet).
“I’ll keep that in mind” Nathan replied to Meadow saged advice. As confident as he was, Nathan wasn’t stupid enough to fall prey to hubris. Whatever happened out there he knew he was going to get a little beat up, maybe even pick up an injury that would impede him in his next match (if there was one). But he was ready for that- trained for it as well. Nathan pretty sure that it was going to be a long day. He had seen the list of campers entered in the event and only saw about three names he recognized. As it was he was going to be competing next and he felt ready, if a little nervous. The match going on couldn’t go on for too much longer. Surely these guys were getting tired and sooner or later the advantage would turn to one of them and they would take it.
Then it would be his turn out there…

She wondered if losing would do either side much good as egos came into play on both sides, she sighed as she listened to how he saw the weakness, "he has some strong moves, be careful if he changes it up" she shook her head, "he gets his hands on anyone and" she snapped her fingers "one two three, that one could be trouble on anyone but she saw faults in the boy who had moments, but she wondered if it was an act which bothered her. If he could change it, and that would be over as soon as someone realized it "be quick on your feet, watch yourself and do not get hurt" she patted him on the shoulder, "it would be a shame if someone messed up that pretty face" she mused.
She noticed the look when she mentioned Aurora and raised an eyebrow in his direction, "hey do not shoot the messenger" she said as she held up a hand, curious as to what he had with her, "word is he saved several campers leading one last push to keep safe, they thought he had died" she looked at the fight below, "ten days later he showed up at the gate on a black bike" she shrugged, "some stories are a bit out there, from his brothers but who knows what really happened there" shrugging she could see a change there and reached forward, patting his shoulder.
"They are not worth it Nathan, remember they all have that rite to break someones heart that they like to do" rolling her eyes it was clear the legacy of Venus was not a big fan of her bloodline there, "find a cute Mercury girl maybe" she offered but patted his shoulder a bit, trying to cheer him up, "that and when you get ahold of him in the arena, make sure you show her what she may lose" a little motivation helped as she hoped to make him feel better after she had seen the anger in his eyes she gave him a faint smile, a bit of a flirt to her tone to him.
"and No I will not kiss you for good luck" she teased.
“Everyone has strong moves” Nathan said cricking his neck, “Its how we kick gluteus maximus. Besides if they change up, I change up. It’s kind of like an escalation of intensity”. Nathan was used to changing it up. More than once he had come up against an opponent (or opponents, if his cohort was training against another cohort). That was when he had to raise the intensity of the fight or change what he was doing. Considering the nature of the event, he evidently would have to do that today. No problem…he was anything if not adaptable.
Nathan smiled to himself. Getting his hands on Nathan would be the worse thing his opponent could do. Once he did that he would be playing Nathan’s game and that was what he wanted. He wasn’t just going to outmuscle the guy, he was going to outsmart him. The last bit was the hardest to achieve, but he was game for a challenge.
Meadow’s advice sounded sage and wise, he would be quick on his feet so that he could get an angle on the other guy and get him off balance. He would watch himself so he didn’t give the guy an opportunity he could use against him (all it took was that split second and he’d be in trouble). As for not getting hurt, that was one of his prime intentions today…of course, that didn’t mean it was a certainty.
Her comment about his ‘pretty face’ drew a playful smile from Nathan. “Are you flirting with a poor simple son of Bacchus? Shame on you Meadow Stone for trying to turn a poor boy’s head” he said. Of course she wasn’t- that was just being dumb. But even in a moment of tension, Nathan could still find a chance to laugh.
“I’m not, I’m not…just”. He sighed. “She was at a party we were had at our barracks a while back and she seemed a little down” Nathan explained. “I dunno…maybe I imagined that there was a connection between us”. He shrugged. “Whatever…least the guy she was waiting for is safe- good for her”. There was no malice in what he just said, since when all was said and done, he did want her to be happy.
“Well…I do bring it on myself” the son of Bacchus admitted, “I do flirt with girls and I like doing it. Most of the time it works out and other times it does. It’s what I do”. That was certainly a reputation that Nathan had- he was a flirt. He had his charming side and some girls did like it when he flirted with them. Sometimes it worked out well and other times it ended in him getting something thrown at his head. You play the game and you take your chances…
A chuckle greeted Meadow’ suggestion. “You mean a fast girl would always swipes my usually empty wallet? I’ll keep that in mind” he said.
Meadow declaration that she would not be giving him a good luck kiss made him laugh. Nathan like to joke with other campers and Meadow was entering the spirit of the conversation. “Thanks…having Neptune slobber on my cheek would be kinda gross” he answered with a playful smile.
The fight was over and the winner was declared. Nathan took a deep breath and stretched his shoulders back one last time to limber them up. “Here we go…” he said as he reached down and pulled his Camp Jupiter t-shirt off and folded it up neatly before he put it down. Nathan was damed if he was going to wear a t-shirt out there and give his opponent something he could grab onto. Besides, it would probably get ripped out there anyways. Clad in a part of black flannel shorts and running shoes, he jogged out into the center to face his opponent…
"everyone has a plan till they get punched in the mouth" she mused an old line as she smiled a bit her eyes stayed on his for a few moments, "I hope you do well" she told him as she looked away in thought for a few moments her eyes looked at the field, debating what to say "win or lose at least you will hopefully come home with all of your limbs" she mused unlike the other events where some could lose a arm, leg, or even an eye should things have gone wrong with however they went about things he thought as she sighed softly, "kick some gluteus maximus" she told him with a small smile, eyes calm and yet gentle thoughtful as she listened to the sounds around them.
"Oh you did like her" she mused, "I can tell grandaughter of Venus or not" she teased him lightly as she poked his knee, "trust me you do not want one of them sweet or not they have a ritual of breaking a loves heart" she mused at least Venus had it although it was odd. Thankfully a generation out of Venus she had no desire to do that when she would meet someone, "you may have dodged a bullet, maybe shes different...maybe not time will tell" she told him. Maybe the girls were different then Rome, but she would not worry about it, "either way...if shes watching make sure she knows what she lost" she told him with a smile.
Watching him as he took his shirt off she raised an eyebrow, "you sure you do not have Mars in you?" she asked him with a smile, she had started to say something when he started to the field, "hey Nat, if you win I will give you a real kiss" she called out to him with a faint smile on her lips, he was cute she thought not to bad in the way. Finding her place in the stands she debated for a moment, deciding to give him a pick him up after the bad news she thought.
Clapping she started to cheer for Nathan, as though she were cheering for a warrior to come home.
The son of Bacchus shrugged by way of agreeing with what Meadow. “That’s true…” he said. Many a kid’s plan as to how to win in a sparring season had changed instantly and thrown into utter chaos by a punch to the mouth…it made one ‘reflective’ on how they were doing thing at that moment…
For his part, Nathan’s eyes stayed on hers a fraction later, until he realized what was happening and blinked. Nathan would be the first to admit that Meadow was pretty- but this was hardly the time and place to muse on such things. “I hope so too” he said in reply, “I trained hard enough”. That was a fact that somewhat galled Nathan. Considering how hard he trained and the disciplined life he lived in Camp Jupiter, he was pretty sure he would have been good enough to compete in the mortal’s version of the Olympic Games every four years- and win a good medal in the Greco-Roman wrestling event. Sometimes he actually pictured himself on the top of the dais, after he had won his gold medal and basking in his justly won glory.
Ah…but that was just a moment’s fancy.
“All my limbs in tact at least…” he likewise mused. Nathan had seen competitions like this and serious sparring sessions end up with a kid sustaining a busted arm, broken leg or dislocated limbs. They could be pretty meaty looking injuries, but not enough to make him stop doing what he loved doing. “All part of the risk we take in life”.
Nathan smiled and chuckled. “I’ll do that…in fact I might dump him on his gluteus maximus and make him tap out” he promised.
Meadow seemed to be really sticking it to Nathan over Aurora. But he didn’t mind- he was too good natured for that. “Yes- if you must know, I did like her…maybe still do” he laughed. If anything was going on between him and Aurora, at the right time he would (like a grapevine) nurture it or prune it, least it get out of control. As it was, everything was under control and neither he or Aurora were going overboard here. A derisive snort came from Nathan. “And we Bacchus kids have a ritual of partying all night and keeping the neighbors awake” he said. It seemed to him that a lot of kid were saddled with reputations based on their parents and their unfortunate habit sometimes to follow in said parents’ footsteps. He was pretty sure that Aurora would lead him on- he was pretty sure he hadn’t led her on...had he?
“Probably…” Nathan said turning to her slightly, chiseled muscles clearly outlined on his body. “I’ve been poked and prodded enough time by Mars kids in weapons sparring in the past”. It was one of his most terrible jokes, but right now witty comebacks weren’t on his mind at the moment. He did however hear the last thing she said. “That could be interesting…” he said with a small smile that matched hers.
Seeing Nathan making his way to the center of the competition area, Nathan’s opponent likewise made his way over. As the referee reminded the two combatants of the rules (things could get a little heated here), the two of them sized the other up. Both were the same height and physical build and looked as if they could wrestle a gorilla and win. Eventually the match began. Meadow’s voice was just one of many that resonated around the fighters as they competed, adding to the sense of drama and suspense of the moment. Nathan waited- figuring his opponent would try and punch him in the face. He wasn’t wrong. Snapping out a ham-sized fist, his opponent took a pop at Nathan. Expecting this, Nathan acted accordingly. Reaching across his body, Nathan grabbed the wrist of the punching hand and pulled it across the front off him. Caught off balance, his opponent was pulled past him, leaving him vulnerable to attack. Stepping in, Nathan grabbed his opponent around the upper arm at the bicep under his armpit and squeezed his arm between his own shoulder and bicep. Pushing down on the wrist and lifting him at the armpit simultaneously, he lifted his opponent off balance and then in an explosive move, stepped across in front of him- giving him no room to move.
In close now, Nathan stepped a foot deep between his opponents so that his hip was under him. Releasing the wrist, he punched his hand up under his opponent’s other armpit and across his back towards his opposite shoulder. Popping his hips and arched through as he did so- his opponent’s balance broken, he throwing his opponent across his body and to the ground, following him down.
Rolling off him and he landed on top of him, Nathan sprang to his feet and dropped low, ready for whatever his opponent would try next.
It was a good start of the match for Nathan so far…
