Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

Scarlett sat on her bunk chewing on her lip as she glanced at her clock to see what time it was. Any moment now she would be able to sneak out, and thank the gods for her fathers gifts, she was going to be able to sneak easily through the dark to get to the pool. She was nervous, but only because she had realized how much she was already enjoying spending time with the son of Mercury. Castor was extremely sweet, and she didn't think she would get so attatched to anyone again, and definitely never would have thought them to be a Roman. Though, here she was, sitting in the dark of the barracks that had been given to the Greeks while she waited for the time she had agreed upon to meet him. Digging carefully through her stuff she glanced around before shoving the bottle in her backpack along with a towel and some other things. The bottle was one she had gotten on the way to Camp Jupiter, a red wine that she had had a glass of when they stopped to eat at a restraunt, and she slipped away to buy a whole bottle knowing that she was going to have to hide it. [break]
Her plan had been to hold onto it for something special, and the more she thought about it, the more she thought that this was just that. It had been hard for her to think that she might move on, but the fact was, she needed to. She wasn't trying to jump in with both feet, but at the same time, that was the way she is. She found something she liked, something she wanted, and she went for it. Taking a deep breath she glanced once more at the clock and hitched the bag up onto her shoulder and slipped out into the darkness of the camp. Castor had given her some heads up on the best way to go to get to the pool, and so between his advice and the shadow travelling, she managed to get there easily, and with no trouble what so ever. [break]
Slipping into the baths she headed to the room to change, slipping on her black and white bikini she headed down to the pool area and glanced around. He wasn't here yet, but that gave her time to try to get her nerves in check, as well as kind of get the lay of the land. It was pretty big and she was impressed. Camp Half Blood had been her home for so very long, and she wouldnt' deny she missed it, but Camp Jupiter was so nice, and had so much that they didn't there. Both camps had their own things going on, but she thought that once she got used to it, she was going to like Camp Jupiter and New Rome more than she might be ready to admit. [break]
Sitting down on the edge of the pool, her feet dangled in the water. The temperature was perfect, and she moved her feet back and forth in the water, little gentle ripples spreading out from where her legs were dangling. Hearing footsteps she looked up quickly and saw him coming to join her. The dark hair and blue eyes just taking her breath away. Dangit, how did he get under her skin so easily already. " How did I beat a son of Mercury here? Shouldn't have you beat me here by a long shot?" she teased him gently and leaned back a bit, her hands bracing her as she looked up at him. " Here I was thinking you stood me up." she continued teasing him, though he wasn't even late, she just felt the need to give him a difficult time over it.
Castor had meant to be at the pool at a much earlier time. He didn't like to be late on any given occasion, but certainly not to a date. He had planned on getting here early, sneaking some candles out of the Trivia kid's stashes, and making the place a little more romantic. Not that it wasn't a nice place of course. The pool was gorgeous, designed and built by the best engineers since Rome itself. The place was a gorgeous feat of architecture, but it was still just a pool. Not exactly the kind of ambience that he wanted to be displaying on his first night with her.
Scarlett. The daughter of Hades who had utterly bewitched him. He tended to have a wandering eye. It wasn't that he meant to hurt anyone of course, his mind had just always seemed to jump around from one person to the next. He liked the challenge, the excitement of meeting someone new. The ins and outs of a new relationship. Then things tended to get boring and old. The magic died and he found himself wandering again.
Since he had met her, however, he hadn't been able to focus on much else. She was beautiful and sweet. She held her own in banter and had him genuinely laughing at her wit. She was the daughter of Hades and yet he would have pegged her for Apollo perhaps, any god or goddess of radiating sunshine. There was just something about her fire and heart that drew him. A kind of unapologetic openness that was wholly unexpected.
He had planned on being early, and then Kade had accidentally stabbed Morrigan. One of camp's Praetors was in some sort of magical coma and needless to say, he had been a bit preoccupied. He had practically thrown his swimming trunks and purple camp shirt on before speaking to the Centurion on duty. Once ensuring he and Scarlett wouldn't be disturbed, he slipped away to the pool.
He tried to slip in unnoticed but her eyes were upon his in an instant, drawing a smile immediately to his lips. "Competitive are we?" He gave her a wink before glancing, just the barest of glances, to what she was wearing. His attention almost immediately moving to focus on taking off his shirt as another grin came over his face. Scarlett joked about him standing her up and he shook his head, "Your father and his hellhounds couldn't stop me from tonight, I promise you." He pulled the shirt off and hung it up on one of the pegs, walking over to where she sat.
Castor sat down next to her, his feet slipping into the cool water. "My apologies for the late arrival. I had to handle something with camp." He glanced over, sincerity lacing his words. He didn't go on further, though if she'd ask, he'd tell her more. He didn't particularly want to think about the events of earlier though. He didn't want to think about anything outside of being with her. He had been looking forward to tonight much more than he'd care to admit and didn't want to waste it. "How was your day?" He found himself watching her, genuinely curious before adding to his words, a half-grin on his face, "Any Romans I need to beat up?"
Scarlett's eyes sparkled and she shrugged, " Was there ever any doubt in your mind that I would be?" she kept moving her legs in the water, thinking of slipping into the pool, but she was rather distracted watching him. How could she not? From the moment he pulled his shirt off her cheeks were flushed and she had to look down at her lap to keep from him seeing her checking him out. Not that that was a bad thing by any means, they were on a date after all. Why was she feeling like a mess right now? He was so very distracting, that much was certain. She swallowed down the nervousness as best she could though. It had been awhile since she had been in this kind of situation. She and Ben had been two peas in a pod, and she always felt so at ease with him. Though the more she thought about it she realized that she had been nervous when things first started with him as well. It was time to forget about the past, and though it hurt, she knew she had to. The time she was spending with Castor was totally healing her heart, something she never expected, and she could not have been happier.
The smirk grew on her face, tilting her lips on one side as she looked into his bright sapphire orbs. " That says quite a bit. What if he sent Cerberus? Would that change your mind?" she grinned at him reaching down into the water as discretely as possible and with one swift movement splashing him with it. Giggles erupted from her lips and she tilted her head looking at him from under long lashes. " Awe, did someone get a little damp? Never know who to trust around here do you?" Scar fought to keep from completely bursting out in laughter, though before long she lost it completely and just let the laughter roll over her like a wave. It was a great feeling, and that feeling was so very intoxicating for her.
Looking over at him as he joined her she smiled, " It's alright, I understand having responsibilites at camp. You are a centurion, so that comes with a lot of work. I get it, really. At camp since I was a little older, I was helping to teach some classes, knife throwing for example. Which, we need to decide when you want to have you own...private lesson." she tossed her hair as she flirted with him, unable to help herself. His question had her debating for a moment then shrugged, "Still getting used to the new schedule really. Might have still tried to find ways to get out of the training thing. To be fair, my memories can still be fuzzy at times but, if im honest, when I'm around you they seem to come back a little easier. Weird huh?" she laughed, " No, I kind of have been avoiding them as much as I can because I wasn't sure how it was going to be if people find out we have been uh, hanging out more." she licked her lips and held a finger up. " I have something..."
She went to her bag and grabbed it but looked back at him. " No ratting me out, I am of age." she laughed and grabbed the bottle of wine out of the bag and brought it back over to him, holding it out. " On the way to camp I picked this up. With every intention that one night I would drink myself into a stupor, or save it for something special. Tonight, I think qualifies as the something special." she shrugged, " If you are interested that is." she laughed feeling like maybe she was peer pressuring him with the whole lets get drunk together thing. " Or if you think someone will come in and catch us. Hate to see you on ditch digging duty...unless you plan to do so shirtless. "
Biting her lip she went back to her bag and grabbed the corkscrew she had managed to find and opened the bottle dropping the cork in the bag. Realizing she didn't bring any glasses she drank directly from the bottle then set it between them, letting him decide if he was going to join her or not. Slipping into the water she moved a little ways from the side and treaded water. " The other day, when you mentioned having to sneak out of camp to get good snacks. What are the chances of us maybe doing that for the next date? Unless you get tired of me by then."
Castor had to give a soft laugh as she matched his quick reply. "Not at all." He really should have seen that one coming. She hadn't seemed like the type who would be fine with someone else showing her up. He was exactly the opposite. He had no desire to upstage or go head to head against anyone. He didn't care if someone thought themselves superior to him, he knew who he was and that was all that mattered. Being opposites meant that this could either go really well or horribly bad. Castor glanced over at her, her lips pulling to the side in a smirk that made him momentarily forget what he was doing.
At the mention of Cerberus, Castor gave a face of mock apprehension, his head tilting to one side and then the other as if he was weighing the odds. "Hmm. That depends. Do I have access to three very large squeaky toys?" He gave her a wink before turning, hanging his shirt up and walking over to her, sitting down on the tiled floor. "Not even Cerberus would change my mind." Castor's eyes scanned the doorway, a habit of his, and as his eyes had made contact with the door, water splashed onto the side of his face. His mouth opened in surprise, his eyes dancing playfully as she coyly acted innocent. "Apparently not. I thought I was on a date with a daughter of Hades, but I think I've actually been bewitched by a siren." He grinned, purely enjoying the way she giggled as she tried maintaining composure.
Castor was a little relieved that she didn't ask about what kept him away. He was happy with the conversation turning to her and her gifts. He had been listening innocently enough as she flipped her hair off of her shoulder, asking about their private lesson. He very quickly found himself looking over at her, a few non-gentlemanly thoughts running through his head before he shoved them out, trying to regain composure. "I'll look over this week's guard rotation and let you know. Hopefully you won't find a more apt student in the meantime."
He looked over at her as she began speaking about her memory loss. A small line etched itself between his brows as he listened. The feeling of being powerless to help wasn't something that came easy to him. He tended to always be the guy who fixed the problems. He was a terrible healer though and barely made it past the few first-aid courses that he had been required to take. When she mentioned that it seemed to get a little better with him his lips pulled to one side in thought before replying, "Hmm. Have you talked to any of the Trivia kids, or I suppose, Hecate for you? Maybe it's something magical?" There certainly seemed like a lot of that running through camp lately.
Castor put his attention to the water, watching the ripples that their movements made as she spoke about avoiding the Roman campers. That probably wasn't the worst idea, at least until everyone had enough time to calm down. Emotions were running high lately. He was surprised that there hadn't been more fights breaking out than the few that they had. "Nah. Don't avoid them at my expense. I really don't care what anyone thinks on either side of the fence." Scarlett mentioned that she had something and his head tilted, an amused smile on his lips. "Not Cerberus I hope."
At the mention of being of age Castor laughed, turning to see what exactly she had. A wine bottle was held aloft and he found himself chuckling at the notion of her sneaking it into camp. The grin stayed on his lips as she brought the wine over to him. He knew nothing of wine, but it looked nice. "Now I'm sure you're a siren." She asked if he was interested and he nodded. "Are you kidding? I could kiss you right now." He grinned. "Do you know how long it's been since I've gotten to have a glass of wine and talk to someone interesting? I think they were on iphone 5 or something like that." He chuckled as she commented about not wanting to get him into trouble. As she finished her statement by requesting him shirtless he raised an eyebrow, the humor still in his face, "Is that so? I would request the same for you but I think Camp would implode." He smirked. Trying very hard not to imagine things that were very much things he shouldn't be thinking about at the moment.
Scarlett opened the wine and took a sip from the bottle, coming back to join him as she put the wine between them. He picked it up, swallowing a sip and relishing the taste. She had picked a good one. He watched her slide into the water, her body pulling his attention in with her. Thankfully she asked about sneaking out and he forced himself to concentrate on the reply he needed to have come out of his mouth.
He couldn't help the soft chuckle that came out of his lips. "I really don't think it's possible for someone to get tired of you." And he meant that. She had done nothing but surprised him at every turn. As soon as he thought he had a handle on her, she changed the game all over again. She had thus far kept him on his toes and he wasn't looking back. "It's possible but definitely not encouraged. What did you have in mind?" He hadn't been out of the camp in ages. He supposed it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to do. Maybe he could even sell it as enhanced border security if they were caught.
Scar had been dreading coming to Camp Jupiter during the whole travel here. She had thought that it was going to be just one fight after another and that was something she was not prepared to deal with. In fact, if it were up to her, she would never fight again. Losing so many had been painful for her, not only the ones she had personally lost, but being near so many deaths when she, as the daughter of Hades, felt every one. It was awful, and she just didn't want to be around that kind of pain ever again. Of course, as a demigod, she was not going to have that luxury. Yet, from talking to Castor about New Rome as well as what she had learned about it since their talk, she had to admit that it was a little different for her now. Knowing that there was the chance that she could have a real life, not have to hide out all the time, never able to do anything else but stay within the boundaries of Camp Half Blood. Maybe she could even have a family of her own, though that seemed far fetched for most of her life.
Her smile was positively electric as she looked up at Castor, " As long as you are aware." she laughed and leaned back a bit. " mmm nope, not squeaky toys, just your charming good looks to get you through." she smiled, her eyes lighting up as he said that Cerberus coudln't have even kept him away from her that night. Her heart skipped a beat as he sat beside her, his toned body making her cheeks flush as she looked at him. She had to be careful or she was totally going to give herself away.
" Those sirens are very good at their jobs. I don't think I could ever live up to them. I promise not to drag you down to your death while we swim." she giggled and shook her head. Sometimes even she thought she could be way too goofy for words. At least he seemed to be on that same level she was. The flirting was really thick in the air tonight, and she was more than ok with it. She had been fighting the urge to kiss him since he said not even Cerberus could stop him. Any man that would be willing to tangle with her fathers giant three headed dog for her was worth it in her book.
Her blue eyes glittered with mischief as she looked into his own sapphire ones, " Nah, I have no interest in any other students. Least of all giving private lessons to any of them. I think you will be my only student here at Camp Jupiter." she tilted her head, curious as to his reaction to that little nugget of truth. " we can meet any time you want. Just give me a heads up as to when. Maybe I can even make your guard duty a little more interesting." she teased him, tucking her hair back out of her eyes, loving the way she was feeling, like the world was not such a dark place after all.
She thought his idea over and chewed on the inside of her lip. " No, I haven't actually. I guess I just didn't want to really remember it all." she shrugged, " I don't really know anyone, but I suppose...If you do, and you trust them..." she trailed off. She supposed she could at least try it. Even if the idea of remembering everything was a little frightening. " Its not just as your expense really, I just, tend to avoid people a lot anyway. Greek and Roman alike. You must just have something special about you." she grinned and thought about reaching for his hand but stopped herself, her nerves were just too high.
Laughter bubbled out of her and she winked, " Not this time, but I won't rule it out. He does love me, I know his favorite snacks." she grinned at the idea of bringing him around the giant dog. " I suppose I have been called worse things." she gave him a little half smirk as he looked at the bottle in her hand. She blushed bright crimson as he said he could kiss her, feeling the little bit of courage bubble up within her she eyed him, " What's stopping you?" she teased, her eyes on his. " Imploding over me shirtless? That would be a sight to see." she laughed and shook her head before drinking from the bottle. The wine was sweet, but just crisp enough that it wasn't too much.
The water was cool on her skin, making her feel refreshed as she watched him drink from the bottle as well. She used that moment to really check him out, my gods he was the perfect male specimen, though there was no way in Hades she was going to tell him that. Coudln't let his ego inflate too much. " So were you planning to join me or am I swimming alone?" she grinned, dipping beneath the water for a moment before coming back up, wiping the water from her face.
" I hope you wouldn't but, promise me if you do that you will let me know and not just..ghost me or something like that." she shrugged a little and tilted her head a bit as she looked at him. " Well, we came through the city so fast I didn't really get to see if properly. I would like to see it. The bridge, all of that. I guess, I want to be a tourist for the day? Plus get all the snacks we could possibly wish for, and maybe another bottle of that.." she gestured to the wine bottle before swimming back to the side, grabbing it and swigging from it before setting the bottle back down with a gentle clink of the glass to concrete.
Castor paused to watch her smile. It was the kind of thing that was rare around Camp Jupiter. Sure people smiled all the time, but not like her. She was grinning broadly without a care as to who saw. Without putting any guards or walls up. She was utterly and completely beautiful in every sense of the word. She made a joke parring his, bringing up his good looks and he made a sour face. "Well that's no good. Though I guess if I can get the prettiest girl in camp to give me a shot, a three-headed dog shouldn't be too intimidating."
He had a smirk on his face as he tilted his head to the side, listening to her speak about sirens. As if she hadn't just wrapped him around her pretty little finger. "You speak from experience? Were they the ones who taught you how to make men fall at their knees or it that just from lots of practice?" He leaned back on his palms, enjoying the feeling of being with her. There was something that came so natural to their relationship. It was almost as if they skipped over the whole awkward stage and fell right into the fun kind of madness that made relationships exciting. That feeling of needing to be near one another. The way his heart raced when she looked at him coyly, already knowing full well that coy was the least thing that she was. It just seemed to be working. Had he been one of his more pessimistic siblings he might have been worried. He was not however. There was nothing he cared to second-guess or worry over.
He met her eyes, a small spark behind his as she spoke of him being the only student. "Can I get your word to that?" He was kidding of course, he was in no position to ask or demand anything of her. It was nice to hear her say the words though. To know that maybe he wasn't the only one falling fast.
Scarlett spoke about making his guard duty more interesting and he felt his cheeks redden. Deliciously ungentlemanly thoughts going through his head before he found himself actually able to speak again. A small chuckle escaping his lips as his mind pushed the thoughts away. "Are you trying to get me kicked out of here? If they find out I slipped away during guard duty they'll have both of our heads." He couldn't imagine having that particular conversation with Dareios.
He nodded when she spoke of her memories. It was clearly still a sensitive subject and he had decided not to comment on it further before she asked him if he knew of anyone. A name immediately coming to his mind, "Yeah actually. Aelin Locke. She's in the fourth co-hort but she's been practicing magic since she was a baby. I'd trust her with you and that's saying something." He gave her a wink before turning his attention back to the water.
They were causing ripples to flow down the length of the pool, softly trailing off towards the end. He thought that perhaps this was the most serene he had ever been at camp. Her voice brought his attention back though and he shook his head, a small smile on his face. "I don't know about that but either way I'm thankful." He couldn't imagine her as she was describing herself. A loner who avoided people. She was too funny, too smart and kind. It was a travesty if she was truly describing herself.
He had made her laugh and a warm, pleased feeling radiated through him as she winked at him. "Remind me to keep my hands to myself then." He laughed along with her. The grin remaining on his face as she spoke up again.
She had gotten into the water and he had taken another sip from the bottle, willing himself to behave. That command growing harder to obey as she spoke about herself going shirtless. He could only give her a playful smirk, not trusting his words quite yet. She then asked if he was going to swim or not and he gave a playful shrug, "I don't know…the view is pretty great from up here." Just a tiny bit of his mischievous side coming out to play. As she submerged herself in the water he eased himself in. The water doing a good job of cooling off the direction that his mind had begun running in.
She made a comment about ghosting her and he tilted his chin to the side before replying, "I hardly think becoming an apparition would be a smart thing to do to a daughter of Hades." He knew she was probably going to give him an eyeroll at the joke, but her words had been slightly clipped. Like perhaps something like that had happened to her before, leaving a bitter taste in her mouth. Castor moved towards where she was, near the edge. The depth short enough that they didn’t have to tread water. He met her eyes, sincerity in his features, "I'm not that kind of guy. I promise you."
When she told him her plans for the outside world he found himself grinning again. She was something that he couldn't put his finger on. Happiness of course, but something more. Something exciting that he couldn't put into words. Where was an eloquent child of Apollo when he needed one?
He picked up the bottle after her, taking a sip and setting it back down. He reached out his hand to her, and if she accepted, he moved to pull her towards him, but facing away so he'd be holding her. Everything nice and slow, everything only happening with her permission. If she had allowed it, he rested his chin on her shoulder before replying, "I think we have date number three officially planned then." He mentally added up what he'd need to do for that to work and when he'd be able to do it. It was possible. He would just need to clear it first. Turning his focus back to her he spoke softly, "So. Where you call home before you got to camp?"
