Astrid has always wanted to be a professional hockey player, just like her dad, and she aspires to be the first woman on an NHL team.[break][break]
Overall[break][break]
Friends[break][break]
Astrid is very open around close friends, she’s often sarcastic--a trait she picked up from her father, but friends know she doesn’t mean anything malicious. If Hawke could be summarized, she’d be wahat many mortals call a “ride or die” friend. This can cause...issues, for lack of a better term, when others threaten her friends as she will be fiercely protective of them. Astrid places all of her trust in her friends, and will do whatever she can to help them. However, if placed in a competition with any of her friends, her innate need and desire to win will outrank her friendships (monopoly gets really intense).[break][break]
Mortal Parent[break][break]
Astrid has a lot in common with her father. Despite the fact that her competitiveness primarily comes from her mother, her father is just as competitive as a pro hockey player and has nurtured Astrid’s competitive side whether he intended to do so or not. These traits are likely what caused her mother to fall in love with him, what’s more appealing to a goddess of Victory than an athlete who excels in her domain? Hawke’s father has a sarcastic nature, which influenced Astrid greatly, shaping her sense of humor and dry wit.[break][break]
Fellow Legionnaires[break][break]
To other legionnaires at Camp Jupiter, Astrid...well Astrid probably seems like a bit of an fracker. Not that she means to be, but her sarcastic nature can come off as such, or at least make her seem a bit cold. Figures of authority know her to be respectful, always following orders/instructions to the word as a result of her experience on sports teams--you can’t get anywhere in life without knowing there’s a time and a place for certain behaviors. However, Hawke will snark back if she believes a superior has gone out of line and is requesting something unreasonable or unnecessary that will negatively impact either her own or the cohort’s (or her team’s) efficiency.[break][break]
Good Days[break][break]
On good days, Astrid is very active, similar to a ball of energy that can’t be contained. She’s at her best, armed with witty responses and a sly smile, she glides through her day with ease, making the most of it. Her interactions with others are generally with the intent of helping them with whatever they’re doing or just positive interactions in general. On days like these, Astrid can be found all over camp, doing what is needed of her and beyond.[break][break]
Bad Days[break][break]
On bad days, Hawke shuts down emotionally. This isn’t to say that a minor inconvenience causes this, but something that really upsets her will cause her to shut out everything. She’ll still do what is required of her, such as centurion duties, but she won’t make an effort to socialize beyond what is necessary, nor will she take the initiative to talk to anyone. Hawke will only speak when spoken to, and generally sounds lifeless, as if there’s no meaning behind what she’s saying. On these days, she’ll typically do what is needed then return to her cohort for the rest of the day, taking care of her duties as needed.[break][break]

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]BIOGRAPHY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
MOTHER: Victoria - Goddess of Victory[break]
FATHER: Malcolm Hawke[break]
HOMETOWN: Milwaukee, Wisconsin[break][break]
Malcolm Hawke had just won the Stanley Cup with his teammates on the Chicago Blackhawks and couldn’t help but feel that they’d been lucky. They had scored the winning goal within the last second of the game and would have lost if not for his seemingly impossible shot. Post-game, Hawke was approached by a beautiful woman named Tori, wearing his jersey no less. One thing led to another and nine months later, Astrid was born.[break][break]
Growing up, Astrid was very much like her mother, even if she didn’t know her. From an early age she was competitive, a trait her father encouraged. Her father enrolled her in gymnastics at four years old followed by ice hockey at five, both at her request as she wanted to be like him. The gymnastics supplemented her hockey skills, giving her agility and flexibility on the ice.[break][break]
At age six, Astrid watched the 2004 Summer Olympics with her father, and decided that she wanted to add archery to her growing list of extracurricular sports. Unsurprisingly she was adept at the sport, able to pick it up easily. That year in school, she also joined the recreation department’s volleyball team, another effect from watching the Summer Olympics.[break][break]
Hawke’s life was fairly normal for the most part, her father continued to play for the Blackhawks (despite their residence in Milwaukee) and she continued to excel at her extracurriculars, joining school teams when she was old enough to. School was a bit challenging due to Astrid having ADHD and Dyslexia, but that didn’t stop her from working hard to pass classes along with the assistance of a tutor that specialized in learning disabilities that her father hired.[break][break]
By her sophomore year of high school, Astrid was on the Varsity teams for volleyball and ice hockey (it helped that they were opposite seasons), and at this point was doing extremely well in both archery and gymnastics--a result of the time and hard work she put into both sports during the off season. When Hawke turned 16 in 2014, her father gave her a letter that her mother had written when she was born.[break][break]
Initially, Astrid couldn’t believe a word of it. The letter detailed that her mother was actually the Roman goddess Victoria, and that she was to go across the country to a place called the Wolf House in California (she googled it out of curiosity and only found that it was the ruin of a mansion originally built by Jack London). Despite her initial disbelief, she realized that every word was true, and discussed the contents with her father, including the portion that implied mortals around her could be in danger. Both agreed that Astrid should finish this year of school, and then she’d make her way to the Wolf House when she was ready.[break][break]
Once her sophomore year had wrapped up in mid June, Astrid stayed in Milwaukee for a bit longer to give a proper farewell to her father and friends, and admittedly to still see one of her favorite bands at Summerfest (missing Arctic Monkeys would have been unforgivable). After a couple of weeks into July, Astrid flew from Milwaukee to the California airport closest to the Wolf House in Sonoma Valley with her essentials packed in a backpack and a gym bag containing her archery and hockey gear. The airport was around five hours walking distance, but Astrid was easily able to catch an Uber to a cottage near the Wolf House called Deer Haven, deciding she would hike the rest of the way to the Wolf House rather than pay for entry into the State Park. Although she had no GPS at this point, considering she was now traipsing around in the middle of nowhere with no phone service, Hawke felt a strong pull towards what had to have been her destination and soon arrived at the Wolf House where she found Lupa waiting.[break][break]
Despite Astrid’s athletic background, the training and conditioning at the Wolf House was brutal. At the time, she was the only demigod there, and Lupa made sure that she worked her gluteus maximus off daily in order to be in the best condition possible for her journey and arrival to Camp Jupiter. Initially Hawke felt a bit odd being trained by a wolf, but the concept was soon familiar for the daughter of Victoria, and she was determined not to let her mentor down.[break][break]
After around six months of training, Lupa deemed Astrid fit to travel to Camp Jupiter. The teen was grateful for her time at the Wolf House but at the same time eager to leave and, no offense to Lupa, talk to someone who wasn’t a wolf. Armed with her bow and quiver, Hawke gathered her belongings and made the perilous day long journey to Camp Jupiter, managing to avoid much conflict aside from a nasty gash on her cheek earned from a fight with a monster she was unable to identify about a mile away from the camp (at least from what her instincts told her). Upon reaching the border of camp, she brandished the letter from her mother which detailed her parentage but was not a formal letter of recommendation. After her injury was treated she was placed in the Fourth Cohort on probatio.[break][break]
A few months following her arrival at Camp Jupiter, Astrid was given a quest to assist the Goddess Iris in retrieving her magical thermos in order to enable Iris in fulfilling her duty of serving Nectar to the gods at their potluck in a week. Though it was a bit of a strange request, especially considering Iris was a Greek Goddess as far as Hawke was aware, the daughter of Victoria successfully retrieved the thermos with the assistance of two other demigods from a family of vengeful cyclopes who had previously been denied patronage at the Goddess’ store, Rainbow Organic Foods & Lifestyles. Beating a family of Cyclopes wasn’t easy, but the increased speed from Astrid’s godly parentage combined with the Imperial Gold weapons allowed herself and her companions to defeat the Cyclopes with relatively few injuries.[break][break]
By completing the quest for Iris, Astrid moved up in rank from Probatio to Legionnaire and earned her legion tattoos depicting Victoria’s laurel. Despite not going on any quests since then, Astrid dedicated herself to her Cohort and the Legion, her loyalties residing entirely with her new home.[break][break]
As the years went on and more lines were added to Astrid’s tattoo, she found herself mentoring the newer members of the Fourth Cohort, not only out of kindness, but in an effort to prove that the Fourth Cohort was just as good, if not better, than the Cohorts above them. After five years at Camp, one of the Centurion positions for the Fourth Cohort was left Vacant due to the previous demigod having left for New Rome after their discharge, and Hawke was offered the position due to her seniority as well as meeting the other eligibility requirements.[break][break]
Astrid has now been at Camp Jupiter for seven years and has been a Centurion for two of them. Though it certainly isn’t what she expected her life would be like if you had asked her ten years ago, she knows this is where she belongs. With the arrival of the Greeks, Hawke has done her best as a Centurion to lead by example as well as help where she can for the new additions to Camp Jupiter.[break][break]
