Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

Ruby's lip quirked up, her eyebrow raised in surprise as Gabriel commented about her meaning too much to him to give her lines. She didn't necessarily believe him, he was known to be a charmer after all, but it was a nice thought. It was a pleasant passing feeling to hear. She didn't comment further on it though. There wasn't a point and she hadn't come to the bar that night to hear sweet promises or anything of the sort. The smile stayed on her lips as she listened to him talk about his future plans. "Not planning is probably for the best. You never know what the gods are going to throw at you." She felt like she had joined the Legion just yesterday. That she had been on guard duty just months ago, not the years that it had actually been. In retrospect, it seemed odd to be talking about marriage and children when she still felt like her life was just beginning. Though that was where her life was at right now. Her mother had left the Legion not much older than Ruby currently was. Her birth soon followed that. She supposed that's what this kind of life was like. It moved fast and sometimes was cut short, you had to grab at the things you wanted quickly.
As the conversation moved to her proposal, Ruby's light smile turned to a full grin as she glanced up at him. Surprisingly though, his cheeks had a light touch of redness and she couldn't imagine what in the world she could have said to have brought that on. For a moment she worried that he'd be offended at the joke of having a baby with her or something of the sort but thankfully he spoke, going right along with it and she let the uneasiness go.
Ruby laughed as he spoke about their hypothetical child being good-looking from her side. "Nah. You're the child of Venus. I think looks go to you by default alone." Not to mention his eyes. And his smile. He had more than just good looks in his favor as well, anyone who had a baby with him would be hitting the genetic lottery.
She danced in step with him, letting him lead her, giving him a wink in return to his offer of a private show. She looked up as he spoke of her being a lawyer, his grin making her grin in return. "I'll take that as a compliment." She had certainly heard worse. She was pretty sure she would recite by memory every lame lawyer joke known to man at this point.
She laid her head back down on his chest. She had meant what she said, every word of it. She listened as he replied softly. She could understand how he felt. The impossible idea of it all, but it actually was possible. Her parents were proof. Even with a child of Venus. Even with their kind of life that brought its own host of issues. "I know it sounds crazy, but it's out there. It's possible. And forget the track record. The past doesn't matter. Not when it comes to that kind of love. That real, no safety net, totally vulnerable love." She knew it sounded crazy. It was crazy. It wasn't the kind of thing that came to everyone all of the time. It was rare and it was fragile, but it was possible.
Thankfully the conversation moved to more safer topics, topics that didn't make them both size up their mental faults and hopes for their futures. He vowed to keep their dinner safe from burning and she gave a soft chuckle. "I do have the mortal pizza place number memorized if you do." She had it down perfectly. One block out of the barrier. Fifteen minutes from New Rome and she had her pizza. It had been a lifesaver during her first year of college. She wasn't too worried about it either way though. She doubted he could cook anything that she wouldn't eat. She wasn't very picky. "You have my number right?" She couldn't wipe the smile from her face, even if she had wanted to. This night had taken a turn that she had never seen coming, but wasn't surprised in the least by. A happy little surprise that she was curious to see where it would lead.
And as he took the lead, spinning her once before pulling her body back to his she felt the tension leave her body. This was what she had come for. She danced and swayed in rhythm with his body and let hers go on autopilot. It wasn't surprising that he was a good dancer. It was one though at how well he seemed to be in tune to hers. How he naturally seemed to know how and where she was going to move. The music continued and she was thankful that of all the nights for her to be out, she had found him.
Ruby glanced over sideways at him as he defended his intentions. She began grinning of course. It was hard to be around him and not find herself grinning like an idiot. She still had the grin on her face as she replied, "Well, as long as we're both on the same page then." Ruby sipped on the liquid, happily relishing the slight burn of the alcohol on her throat. It had been such a long week. It had been a long month truthfully. She was ready for tonight. She was ready to let go and let the problems of tomorrow stay there.
She listened with amusement as he corrected her guess. As he furthermore admitted to wanting that a genuine look of surprise passed over her face. "Three kids and a retriever. You're planning on keeping your wife very busy I take it?" She wanted it too, ideally. Though the more she thought about being responsible for three human beings and a dog as well, the more claustrophobic she felt. He had mentioned it wasn't in the cards for him and she raised her glass towards him. "How about in ten years, if neither of us is married, we'll have a kid together?" She was kidding of course, a grin on her lips. "C'mon, with your charm and my weaponry skills it's almost guaranteed they'll be the next Praetor." The mental image was enough to cause a small laugh to escape her lips.
Ruby had gotten momentarily distracted as she watched his hand run over the smooth wood of the bar top. Her thoughts were pulled immediately back to him though as he mentioned a private concert. The first thoughts that came into her mind were not wholesome, but she didn't let herself allude to them out loud. That at least was something. "Good. Have your people call my people." She wished she had more time to spend listening to his music. Unless the Greeks decided to ship out or stopped being headaches she didn't see a time when that would ever be possible. Unless he was willing to perform in an office or campus classroom.
The two had made it to the dance floor and she fell into rhythm with him. She looked up in time to see him grinning down at her, eliciting a smile from her lips. Gabriel spoke about her being immune to his charms and she laughed, "Blame it on the cynicism. It makes a great lawyer, but a terrible flirt." She thought a moment about what he had said. She had never thought about his powers that way. She couldn't imagine always having to second guess yourself when it came to relationships. "I guess it comes down to time and trust. Your powers aren't something to ignore but they can't replicate the kind of thing my parents have. That pure dedication and loyalty to one another. You can't put up an illusion for that long."
Her grin softened as she thought about her parents. They were far from perfect but they had always seemed to be perfect for one another. If it hadn't been from seeing their example with her eyes her entire life, she might have doubted that it was even possible.
His hand moved up her back, causing a shiver to go up her spine. She laid her head against his chest, his scent enveloping her. She could see how girls could easily lose themselves in him. He laid his head against hers as they danced to the song. The slow rhythm perfectly fitting what she had needed. It might not have been what she had wanted. At least, not when she had been making plans for the evening. But dancing slowly in his arms was proving to be exactly what she needed.
Gabriel's voice spoke up, a little softer and unless she was hearing incorrectly, a little hesitant. A small line appeared between her brows as she listened quietly to him. Was he asking her out on a date? She looked up at him, a small smile on her lips. "Are you asking me out?" She didn't have the delusional idea that he was looking for her to fill in the role of girlfriend for him. She could read the writing between the lines and had nothing against a casual hookup.
She hadn't thought that she was honestly his type though. She always pictured him with blondes who hung onto his every word. As opposite of her as one could get. "Hmm. I never could turn down a man who offers to cook for me." She grinned jokingly before laying her head back down against his chest. "I'd love to."
Of all the things that she imagined could happen tonight, agreeing to go on a date with one of New Rome's biggest playboys wasn't on the list. A date wasn't a marriage contract though and she couldn't imagine either of them thinking it was anything more than what it was so there was no harm in it. The slow song ended and a quicker beat began playing through the room. Ruby grinned, "You can sing, but what about dance?" She turned, her back to him as she began to move in rhythm with the music.
Darlin'. The accent was so uniquely different and entirely him that she couldn't help the smile that came to her lips. That smile turned into a laugh though as he continued laying his honey-coated comments on thick. "Flattery will get you nowhere with me cowboy, I'm a daughter of Mars remember? Even our bullpoop detectors are top of the line." The smile was still on her face as she regarded him. She had no use for sweet nothings or flattery that other girls might swoon at the mere mention of. He'd have to try a whole Hades of a lot harder than that.
Ruby picked up the glass and listened to him mention his family. Her chin tilted to the side as she mulled over the idea. She could see it. He was handsome enough. He certainly had enough charisma to more than likely run un-opposed. Though if his heart wasn't in it she couldn't blame him. "Oh come on, a little house with a picket fence, wife who bakes cookies, 2.5 kids and a library named after you not appealing enough?" She was grinning, knowing full and damm well that neither of them were suited to that lifestyle. She absolutely wanted a family in the future but she also wanted a career and a life that was her own before any of that. And even then she would never be the kind of wife who stayed home baking cookies. Teaching her kids how to properly disarm an opponent, however, that sounded more up her alley.
Gabriel made a joke about ordering the Dom and she raised her drink, "Now there's an idea." She winked at him before taking another swallow from the glass. Thankfully enough for him her tastes weren't expensive. He mentioned that he wasn't scheduled to sing and Ruby gave a small pouting face before he said that he'd make an exception for her. "I might have to take you up on that."
She liked his music and had genuinely been looking forward to hearing his voice. Though she supposed one song was better than nothing. Then he spoke about being single and she had thought that he was surely going to end his sentence with a joke, but it never came. Her eyes tried reading his, a small line forming between her brows as he spoke of being lonely. That certainly had not been what she had expected to hear.
He offered her his hand and she downed her drink before slipping her hand into his. The music had slowed and she easily fell into a natural sway with him, one hand on his shoulder and the other hand in his as he led her. She looked up, her eyes meeting his. "You can't let your powers get in the way of your happiness. You're a Hades of a guy Gabriel. I think you might be getting inside your own head." She laid her head on his chest, liking the feeling of listening to someone else's problems. It was therapeutic in a way. "Ever consider that you might just be a good guy that girls actually enjoy dating?"
Ruby needed a break. Which was the understatement of the century. Lately there were days where she found herself wishing she could go back to the simpler times in her life where her most pressing concern was winning a war game. Where she was expected to perform to the best of her abilities to the service of Rome, which usually meant a whole Hades of a lot of PT and training. That was something that came naturally to her. She could fight and train all day, in the rain, in the snow, it didn't matter. Whatever was asked, she could handle it. Her temper and her fire ensured it.
Now it seemed to always be a mental game. There was always more demanded of her. Always being pulled in three or four different directions while having to maintain a perfect GPA. The demand to be better in a mental aspect was much more draining to the daughter of Mars than anything physical had been.
So she had decided that tonight she was owed a break. Ruby tended to follow the work hard but play harder motto and tonight was going to be one of those nights. She had let her Venus roommate pick out her outfit and arrange her hair. She had left her cell phone at her student apartment and left without looking back. She wanted dancing and drinking, her feet carrying her to the best place in town that would accommodate that.
Ruby walked in and headed for the bar, sitting down at one of the stools. She set her clutch down on the counter and before she could order a drink, the stool next to her moved and Gabriel Graymark sat down. His smile was, as always, devilishly charming and his words nothing less as he complemented her. "Gabriel, as charming as ever." She matched his tone with a grin. He said the drinks were on him and she raised a brow, a playful smirk on her lips, "Is that so? How did I get so lucky?"
Her eyes glanced over him. He was a son of Venus, and just as alluringly handsome as one would expect of course. He was also muscular and tall which she had always had a hard time turning down. If he hadn't been such a playboy she might have let herself fall down that enticing little rabbit hole. Unfortunately for him, she was all too aware of that history to consider anything serious with him. Still, he was very nice to be around.
He asked about her career choice and she nodded. "You heard right. I'm following in the family footsteps I suppose." She gave a soft smile before a shrug, "It's alright but you might want to re-think your offer of buying drinks tonight." She laughed lightly, turning in her chair enough so she could see him better. Her favorite drink was put in front of her and she thanked the bartender before taking a sip, relishing the cool liquid.
"Are you singing tonight?" She liked listening to him sing. He was talented, more so than the plain voices that were played over and over on the streaming stations. His sound was original and deep. He put his heart and soul into his music, it wasn't just repetitive words and a catchy beat. "If not, I'm going to steal you away from your current sweetheart and make you dance with me tonight." She gave him a playful wink, fully intending to dance with him, other girl or not. After all, there was no harm in dancing.
Ruby had forgotten how easy it was to be around Bran. He was open, honest, and as friendly as they came. He, in just a few short words, had her grinning, momentarily forgetting all about the stress of her day. "Yeah right. Three of my professors are women, you'd have them charmed by your roguish ways in no time." She playfully nudged his elbow as he brought up that he couldn't imagine her as a student. "Can you not? I thought for sure that was one of your r-rated daydreams." She gave him a playful grin before shrugging, "It's honestly not that bad. I can get through the classes, it's all the extra work that the Greeks brought with them that's a pain."
As Ruby's arms went around his neck, Branson picked her up, eliciting a yelp from her lips in surprise as he spun her around before setting her down on the rocks again. He said another classically smooth Branson line and she gave a humorless laugh before grinning, "Yeah, sure. Go on, out with it. Tell the truth before I go calling for your co-centurion." As he ruffled her hair she moved in quickly to land a playful smack on his shoulder. She sat down with him, letting his arm go around her. She leaned her head into the embrace, listening to him talk about camp. He mentioned Morrigan and Ruby nodded. "Oh yeah, we heard. There's rumors that Dareios isn't appointing a temporary co-praetor. Which is a bad idea in my opinion."
Bran sat up and leaned forward, hands around his knees and she leaned back, bracing herself on her palms. As he spoke about the Greeks and one of the legion's centurions with one she half thought he was joking with her. She raised her eyebrow, a smirk on her lips, "Are you, Branson Lovett , actually insinuating that you wouldn't give a Greek girl a second glance? Not even a casual pick-up line? Are you feeling well?" She leaned forward and placed her hand jokingly on his forehead before sitting back again.
She understood the shock in what he was saying. She couldn't imagine giving a Greek boy any amount of attention. From what she had seen they were all far too whiny and weak for her taste. "You can't blame the guy for flirting. I'm sure it's harmless. It's not like there's any real chance of a Roman and a Greek having a future together." She wasn't being cruel or unkind, it was simple fact. Historically the groups had never gotten along, they were too far different, too culturally opposite. Greeks lived out in the mortal world where they took their chances with their children. Romans protected their families with all that they had. There could be no future between the two. "Speaking of the future, what's your plan huh? You'll be out of the legion before you know it, trust me."
When Ruby had pictured her time at college she had always thought it would be a mostly carefree chapter of her life. There were studies of course, but she had found that when it came to the things that she was actually interested in, she academically did quite well. That side of school wouldn't be an issue, she knew that. She had set her sights on that part of her life being a freeing time. There was no more guard duty, no more strict regimen and training. There was no one who was meticulously watching her every step. She had been excited about the prospect.
Then the Greeks had shown up and made everything one giant headache. She currently spent most of her time in her classes and any free-time she had, was spent playing welcome committee to adult Greeks who could barely comprehend the idea of an entirely safe city much less adapt easily to it. There was also the added headache of releases, liabilities and properties that were now in the processes of being transferred. She was a first-year legal student, she hadn't expected she would have stepped foot in the legal ring. Her mother had other plans though.
Their whole legal branch was overwhelmed and calling in the re-enforcements had been a strategic play. Unfortunately her entire first-year class was the proverbial re-enforcements so she found herself working around the clock.
The nights tended to blur together with only a rushed dinner with her family here and there to break it up. That was where she had found herself that evening. She and her mother had poured over paperwork. Her mother actually forming ideas and plans and herself taking notes furiously while her father had cooked for them. She had spent three hours there before packing up her things and heading towards her student housing. She knew she could have stayed with her family, but what college kid wanted that?
Instead of going straight back to her home though, she decided to take a detour and visit the Lake. It normally wasn't a crowded area, and she could use a little solitary time. Ruby had just made it down to the graveled shore as she noticed she was not alone. She paused, half debating on leaving when a familiar voice called out to her. A smile came across her lips and she made her way to the son of Jupiter. "I'll gladly trade places with you." She answered in jest, dropping her bag down on the shore and moving to him, her hands going around his shoulders for a hug. "Don't tell me you're sneaking out. I thought you learned your lesson after last time?"
She had to admit that he was a very welcomed sight. Sometimes she felt out of place, stuck between an adult and not exactly an adult or rather the kind of adult that New Rome viewed. The families with children, the battle-hardened veterans who served in the Senate. The people who had actual careers that bettered Rome every single day. At camp she had known exactly how and where she fit in. Here she felt almost like she was in limbo. "Distract me. Tell me some camp gossip."
LOYAL- Ruby is loyal to the core. Whether it's the legion, rome, or her family...she's quite protective and loyal to the core. Her heart and all she does is basically in service to one of those three things at any given time so if there's a threat to them, she doesn't take it easily or calmly. [break][break]
BRASH- She doesn't sugarcoat anything, nor care to spare feelings. She was raised by Romans and her "people skills" tend to always reflect that. She has been known to hurt some feelings, but she quite literally doesn't care. [break][break]
DETERMINED - Whether it's a guy she wants to get with or a challenge she wants to crush, she tends to get what she wants, Hades or high water be frackinged. She doesn't handle the word "impossible" well. She's a very determined person and will do whatever it takes to reach a goal. [break][break]
STUBBORN - Once she makes her mind up, it's done. There is no going back. And you won't get her to do anything she doesn't want to do. Orders from those who out-rank her are the exception of course. She has no issues following commands and orders when it's required. If someone outside of that scenario is demanding something however...don't hold your breath. [break][break]
DISTANT - She has no problems with a one-night stand but won't play games when it comes to relationships. She knows she wants a family, she knows she wants a life in New Rome. She has no interest in anything that would detract from that. [break]
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]BIOGRAPHY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Ruby was born to Alexis Torres, who was a child of Invidia. The woman had left her family in New Rome after graduating from the University, set on living a life outside of the Legion. She lived in Seattle for a while, working in law and picking up the interest of mixed martial arts and boxing. She met a man at a bar one night while watching a title fight and the two ended up leaving together. In the morning the man was gone and nine months later Ruby was born. [break][break]
Alexis knew something was different with her child, but didn't know exactly how different she truly was until Ruby was seven. The girl had began getting into trouble at school, even at her young age she seemed to enjoy fighting. She rarely started them, but if she happened to see a bully or some action that she felt was unforgivable she most assuredly would end them. Alexis thought it was something to do with her godly lineage but never suspected Ruby was who she was. Ruby's grandparents and uncle visited on a few occasions, mainly birthdays, but she never took the child to New Rome. There was no bad blood, she just didn't want that much godly blood around her child for fear of being exposed. [break][break]
When Ruby was ten her mother met a perfectly normal mortal man, Garrett, a school teacher at a local university and they hit it off. She told the man who and what she was after a year, and then after another, the two got married. Ruby led a mostly normal life, save for the occasional fight here or there. Her parents put her into martial arts, but that wasn't enough, Ruby always wanted to do more, to learn more, to be better. [break][break]
On Ruby's fourteenth birthday the first monster attacked while she was outside playing in the yard. Her mother had screamed from inside, sure that the thing was going to eat her child alive, running outside in a panic to find Ruby breathless with a wide grin on her face, the monster dead on the ground. It was then that the man from all those nights ago appeared and revealed himself as Mars, telling her of the child's lineage. [break][break]
Alexis acted quickly. She sent Ruby to Lupa and began moving she and Garrett into New Rome with the rest of her family. Ruby breezed through the wolf house and made her way to Camp Jupiter with recommendation letters from her relatives and her mother, who had been in the second co-hort. Ruby was placed into the second cohort as well and spent her time there until she was twenty-four. She then left to attend college in New Rome. [break][break]
She's been at school for a year and currently excelling in her studies. As the Greeks began to arrive at the camp she finds herself spending more and more time helping the older campers and adults adjust to life inside their borders. [break]
[Telumkinesis] Control over weaponry. The daughter of Mars can manipulate, control or curse any weapon that's in his range. This gift can be used on any number of weaponry, both Roman and Greek. If it's a weapon that's been given to a child from their godly parent, she must concentrate very hard on it to do anything and then it just depends on who she's fighting and how close he is to it to how long or what she can actually do to it. [break][break]
[Combat Prowess] Ruby, like many of the other children of Mars, is very knowledgeable in all forms of combat and uses of weaponry. She can see a weapon and instantly know how to use it fluently as well as tactical fighting skills that come almost effortless. Also with other children of the god of war, she is extra quick and strong. [break]
