[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Life has a way of ing people over before they put one foot out the door. And in this case, that foot is being born into this messed up world. Being the daughter of a Roman Goddess, it had always meant that Dahlia would be an outcast, but maybe it was better that way. To look at one's life and only rely on themselves meant less heartbreak.
[break][break]
As a young girl, her father was never around, not as much as she liked. He was always away on business or came home when she was already tucked into bed. Because of this reason, she had to grow up pretty fast. She was mature for her age, almost like a modern-age Matilda. She was strong, proper, obedient, intelligent, and brave. She was everything someone would want in a daughter, and yet, her father barely wanted her. She was damaged because of that, believing that no one would ever want her, that she could only look out for herself. Dahlia is highly resilient; she had to when it came to the bullying for being different. Not being able to read, having all these complications, and being a child without parents, she had to take it all in strides. It only pushed her. As a teenager, this all turned into a darker side, which many could have seen coming if they looked hard enough. She became stubborn, willing to put herself through any pain to be seen by her father or even the unknown mother she knew nothing of.
[break][break]
Eventually, when Dahlia found her way to Camp Jupiter, she had struggled to forge meaningful connections with people, and making friends was not something that came easy to her. Having endured such a weird and bitter childhood, filled with heartbreak and the need for someone to understand her, she closed herself off. She can be somewhat violent, having a short temper towards those that wrong her. Dahlia resigns herself to isolation; she did let someone in. She thought she fell in love, even dated a guy for a year before she learned that he was cheating. Well, she assumed he was, and jealousy rang free in her. The minute he started dating someone else only a few days after her, she assumed the worst and closed off even more. Though there is some forgiveness after two years, she's slowly becoming more optimistic but still holds to her trusting issues.

mother ;; prosperina, immortal, goddess of olympus.

[break]
Long ago, a Roman Goddess came into this world and found a man, one that she used to produce a child that she would later abandon. That man was Alexander Barlow, a well-known lawyer that was making his way in the world. None would know what Prosperina saw in this man, but one thing led to another, and sometime later, a baby appeared in his life. This child, he named Dahlia and left her to be cared for by a nanny for the rest of her life. He wasn't there, and it was like she lacked both parents instead of one. It was assumed that Alexander didn't love his daughter, wanting nothing to do with a one-night stand, but unable to find the mother and refusing to let his blood be adopted; he took her in. And just because he took her in didn't mean that he had to raise her, right? Instead, each year he would hire a nanny to watch over his daughter, to raise her like a parent would. Because it was challenging work, each nanny barely made it to a second year, and usually, Alexander was forced to hire a new one.
[break][break]
Raised with mostly herself to rely on, Dahlia grew up way before she had to. She took care of herself, sometimes even refusing the nanny's help when she was old. She wanted her father, and she had to prove that she was worth his attention. Even when she became of school age and the bullying started, she wanted nothing more than to prove that she was worthy of the Barlow name. She ignored the fact that she had dyslexia, that her parents didn't want her, that no one wanted to be her friend. She pushed past it all and rose above it. She turned her frustrations to caring for plants, something she was exceptionally good at.
[break][break]
When she hit middle school age, she got in a fight at school. Her temper was short, but her fists were longer and faster. She beat the kid up until she broke his nose. Her father didn't care. Instead, he just moved her to a different school. Things would start over, and she had to reign it all in. But everything would change when she hit high school age. For once in her life, her father came to her and told her they needed to leave. He never said anything else, but she was happy to finally be seen by the man she wanted to be loved by all her life. And then, he dropped her off and left her. HE LEFT HER! Her anger was enough to shake anything, but she refrained. And that was how she found herself at the Wolf House.
[break][break]
At first, she was too angry to prove herself to the wolf, enough so that Lupa seemed not to think she was good enough. Of course, that sparked her hard and fast, challenging herself to do better, to prove herself. She wasn't a warrior, but if you angered her enough, she could be a cold-blooded killer. Her skills were sloppy, but they slowly got better. Enough that she could prove herself and survive in a fight. And she was lucky; she arrived at camp and was placed in the third cohort. She wasn't the best of the best, but she wasn't hades either.
[break][break]
Unlike others that had entered the camp, she wasn't claimed instantly. She had no home, no family to call her own, while others had half-siblings and such. Did her mother not want her just as much as her father didn't? Those questions filled her mind well into her first year at Camp Jupiter; she busied herself with training and caring for flowers. And then one guy told her that she could be a child of Prosperina or Ceres because of how she was caring for the plants. A friendship sparked between them, and eventually, they started dating. She should have known better about putting her defenses down, especially when her second year at camp came around and broke up with the guy. Instantly he was dating another girl after two weeks, enough to make her feel that she had been cheated on. She drew into herself, refusing to let her guard down again, to isolate herself from anyone and everything.
[break][break]
Two years later, right before her fourth anniversary at camp, she was claimed. Prosperina finally decided to claim her daughter after four years of being alone, isolated, and broken. It didn't change how she felt, but optimism filled her being for once in her life. Maybe things were going to start to look up for her and her life. And then...the ing Greeks showed up.

[ CHLOROKINESIS ] Like any child of Proserpina, Dahlia has the ability to manipulate, bend, and grow plant life. She can bring any plant back from its dead state, and can even make new saplings grow to full maturity. However, her only problem is, these powers are their strongest during the Spring and Summertime. When it comes to Fall and Winter, she can't even bring back a piece of too ripe fruit. Though there are still times when she has no control over what becomes of the plant life, leaving her to have moments when her abilities don't follow her control. She could be attempting to bring a sapling to fruition, and instantly kill it. Or could revive a dead flower and instantly cause it to disappear back into the ground. In reality, there is no knowing what will become of anything she touches, especially when it's Fall and Winter.
[break][break]
Dahlia, however, is extremely passionate about taking care of plants that are attributed to Proserpina. Finding it easier to control things like pomegranate trees, willows, lilies, etc. She even has a better chance at her powers working on these types of plants during the dead-power months that she has, aka Fall and Winter.
