Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

Carefully, Espen watched the area he'd been assigned to guard during the lantern festival. He wasn't actually on the usual guard duty roster - despite incessant nagging from some of the higher ups - but he'd volunteered to do it for that evening's event. The legion just preferred to be prepared, and considering how much higher the likelihood would be that they would be attacked by monsters with the barriers down for the tribute, they had bolstered guard duty with extra campers. It was fair and valid, and when someone came knocking to ask him if he'd be down for tonight, he'd signed on straight away. Besides, he'd only planned to participate in spear throwing for the Games; he wouldn't be too tired or injured from any of the other Games. Or so he'd hoped, anyway - one never could tell when it came to demigods and violence. Thankfully, his prediction had come true and he'd emerged from the Games unscathed, although of course lacking a laurel, not that it bothered him too much. He wasn't competitive enough to care.
A casual hand ran over the weapon strapped to his hip, just to reassure himself that it was still there. The other guards were the same: careful, watchful, ready as always. There shouldn't be anything - short of a Titan - that could take the legion down, even if the barriers weren't in place for a few hours. The guards weren't uneasy or uncomfortable, just alert, like Espen. While the idea of standing around on watch for hours may have seemed boring, which is why he didn't do it on a regular rotation, in hindsight Espen realised just how glad he was to have taken this post instead of mingling with the Greeks during the lantern festival. This was about their campers, their traditions, their family. It didn't feel right for Espen to join them when he had lost no friends of his own.
As he looked over the demigods assembled, his eye caught the girl. She was the one he'd watched a couple of times in the gardens, had seen her look so peaceful and relaxed in the company of no one and nothing but the flowers. Her ebony hair was silky and caught the reflection of the lights as they twinkled, and unknowingly, Espen had started to smile slightly seeing her here. The uncomfortable feeling of being watched prickled at the back of his neck, and Espen turned to catch one of his barrack-mates rolling their eyes at him. Coughing slightly, Espen looked away, attention back to the horizon. Sloppy. And embarrasing.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Standing next to the group of Hermes campers she had arrived with, Cecily wrapped her arms around herself as she watched the lanterns ascend towards the sky. She could have probably counted herself lucky since she didn't lose a friend or sibling at Camp Half-Blood. Mostly because she didn't have many friends, to begin with, and considering she was still not claimed she wasn't even sure who her siblings could have been. The only person she had considered friend thus far was Evie, and she was here with her, albeit busy as an assistant healer for the day. She saw her around but didn't want to be a bother.
She stood there, with empty hands, pale green eyes were set upon the lights, slowly travelling up and up and up... except for one. She caught the sight of one lantern going astray, floating towards the trees. Looking around, to see if anyone had noticed it too and would attend to it, Cecily slowly stepped towards the lost lantern. It was ultimately caught in the branches of a tree, somewhere on the side of the fields. Apparently, she was the only one who saw because no one else came in her direction or even bothered to pay attention to where she was going anyway. At least not that she noticed.
Cecily craned her neck to find it, looking up and squinting at the branches. The only hint was the light from the candle inside the lantern, pointing out to her where she could find it. She placed a hand on the tree, resting it there for a brief moment before deciding to attempt to climb it. Cecily wasn't much of a fighter, let alone a climber. She had attempted challenging the climbing wall back at their camp until the lava was released and she almost burnt herself. And while she didn't get burnt, the fall down wasn't the softest.
However, she was determined to get that lantern down, because whoever sent it up there wanted to mourn someone. She wasn't going to let it not happen. Small hands fumbled with the tough bark. She was too short to reach any of the branches, though, that didn't stop her. There was a time when she had watched Bran climb trees, barely remembering it, but the memory flickered inside her head like the flame of a candle struggling against a gust of air. Jumping as hard as she could she managed to get a hold of the lower ones, feet propped against the trunk. Some struggling later she stood on the branch, looking up at the lantern which seemed so far away.
As his barrack-mate looked away, Espen waited two or three seconds before turning to look for the girl again. She had gone from where he'd seen her last, and Espen looked around some more, now a bit distracted from his responsibility. When he couldn't see her hair or face anywhere nearby, he figured she must have gone on, maybe with spotted some people she knew and went to stand with them. The field was swarming with Greek demigods, with perhaps too few Romans mingling with them - Espen could understand that. This tribute was for the fallen Greeks, anyway; he could only imagine how awkward the legionnaires would be feeling, attending something that felt so private and belonged to a different group.
Deciding he'd catch a glimpse of her another time, Espen mentally shrugged before turning his gaze back at the patch of wood he was supposed to be keeping an eye on. It was probably a good idea that she'd gone, anyway, he really couldn't be caught slacking like that again. He was lucky it had only been one of his own barrack-mates; imagining if it would be one of the centurions or gods forbid the Praetors, Espen knew he could really cop some flak over a lapse in focus. Settling himself into the proper mindset, Espen shifted his neck to stretch the muscles, readying for a night staring out into nothing.
A movement out of the corner of his eye caught his attention, and Espen's first thought was no way, really? monsters? One hand was immediately on his gladius, but he didn't pull it, not yet. It could have been anything, really -- and clearly it was, because there, halfway up a tree, was the girl he'd been looking for earlier.
Incredulous, Espen was frozen for a second, before he walked towards her, wondering what in Tartarus she was doing. Then his eyes spotted a lantern that had gotten caught further up the tree, clearly the girl's destination. It must have been one of hers; Espen couldn't imagine any other reason why she would be up there looking to free it. Deciding to not speak too loud in case he frightened her, Espen called out to her as he came closer, "Hey, uhhh... Are you alright there? Do you need a hand or something?" To be perfectly honest, it had only been a polite question; Espen was not a particular fan of climbing trees, and he was pretty sure his weight would have had him breaking a branch before he could even get up to the height she was now.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Cecily had managed to somehow climb up a lot higher than she had anticipated to. She was quite sure to fall at any given moment, be it by tripping over her own feet, or because a branch would give in… not necessarily because of her weight but more by the works of her power. She feared that she might accidentally use it unbeknownst to her, to make the branch speed up aging until it would wither and ultimately break underneath her feet. Those powers of hers which she wasn’t even sure of how they worked, had been more useless than anything else. They did not grant her the honor of getting claimed by her parent (yet), nor did they help with gaining some respect within the ranks of the demigods at camp.
Green eyes looked up at the light glowing through the leaves and branches, determined to hurry so it could join the others and not get left out… like herself. It was enough reason to climb up further if it hadn’t been for the voice calling up to her from somewhere on the ground. Her fingers wrapped around a branch next to her, the other hand placed firmly on the bark of the tree. She blinked, moving just slightly to the side to find the person who had talked to her.
"Umm, no. I got this. Unless… you happen to be able to fly up there?" she replied, a shy laugh escaping her lips as if her question was a ridiculous one to ask. She was not really serious about it but one could never know. Having seen campers float at Camp Half-Blood, although she was pretty sure someone once told her those were children of Zeus, it all made sense. Her gaze moved between the guy and the lantern, rosy lips pressed together as she thought of a way to retrieve it.
Letting go of the branch she pointed towards the light before looking back down at him. "Someone’s lantern got stuck in the tree," Cecily called down, before having the splendid idea of lifting the heels of her feet to tiptoe on the branch she was standing on. Reaching up at the branch above her she shook it in a futile attempt to loosen it, hoping it might just fall out of the tree’s grasp.
It didn’t move. Not even a millimeter. A handful of leaves fell from the branches above, a few finding their way into her dark waves. She gave it another shake, putting a bit more strength into it - which wasn't a lot, but the tree's grasp on the lantern was too tight that nothing helped to free it. Giving up on that method she blew a strand of her out of her face, holding on to the tree. "I can't reach it! Whoever this belongs to would be so heartbroken if they knew it never made its way up."
The girl looked down at him from her position up in the tree and Espen forgot to breathe for a second. Which was not something he appreciated, because that had never happened to him before. Girls had never been a big importance in his life; he didn't exactly look for those things because he'd never needed them. Friends had been plenty fine for the son of Pluto, and besides, he wasn't sure if he'd like a girl who asked him where he went at night - he'd heard horror stories about jealous girlfriends demanding to know where their boyfriends went and Espen didn't think the trade-off of losing his independence was worth it. And so he'd never particularly cared enough about anyone of the opposite gender aside from as a friend or as an ally - or as a powerful demigod who could shock his gluteus maximus with a bolt of lightning. Looking at you, Morrigan.
But this girl was different. Espen didn't know if it was because she looked so small and fragile, or if it was the way her eyes were luminous and soft but also slightly aloof, all at the same time, or the way her lips moved when she talked, or her hair as it curled around her face - or all of these things at once. Even though she was a bit of a distance from him, he could tell that she barely reached his shoulder, and maybe it was just some sort of long-buried protector instinct in him because no one had needed it at Camp Jupiter. Everything about her told him to care.
Blinking as he gathered his scrambled thoughts, Espen smiled apologetically at her, his eyes flicking to the lantern she pointed at before returning to her face. "No, not me," he told her. He was just about to offer to get someone else to help - unsure if he should leave her up there or ask her to get down before he went - when the girl started shaking the branch and Espen felt a previously unknown anxiety creep over him. These danged Greek girls were making Espen feel a range of previously untapped emotions, and he wasn't sure if he was a fan of this at all.
Thankfully, though, the girl didn't fall from her precarious perch, and Espen ran a hand at the top of his head to brush off any errant leaves that may have landed there. "C-could you maybe, get down?" he called up, voice unsure as he watched her step carefully on the branches. Could she actually get down? Espen for sure wouldn't have been able to see a way down himself if he'd been up that high. A bit of a nervous smile appeared on his lips as he tried to reassure himself that she wouldn't fall; if she'd gotten that high, she could get back down. Right? "Just don't want you to fall right now. When you're back on solid ground, we can find someone who can set the lantern free again." All this over a lantern that wasn't even hers, just because someone else was paying a tribute with it? Espen didn't know if that was stupidly endearing or endearingly stupid.
