Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

Castor found himself in the stables, covering a cleaning shift that was supposed to be done by a girl from the second cohort. Instead, she had been called to guard duty due to some malfunction of the barrier so he had volunteered to cover her shift. He didn't mind working in the stables. It was normally easy enough and it allowed lots of solitude and time to think. The unicorns were prone to irritation if there was a lot of noise so the place was relatively calm. At least it had been. The Greeks had brought their own four-legged equines. There were pegasi as well as a few who looked like wind spirits, some that enjoyed turning invisible at will. The place was practically busting at the seams with all of the new animals.
That meant double cleaning shifts of course, as well as irritation in spades. A few of the horses didn't mind the extra company but unfortunately for him, the majority did. That made the task of brushing them and cleaning out their stables particularly challenging. He had been in the stables all morning and had yet to only fully complete 8 stalls. That sounded impressive, until one realized that there were well over sixty available. He wasn't working alone of course, there were others coming in and out of the stables, but they had their own tasks and work to complete.
He made his way to the next stall, the unicorn highly antsy. He tried murmuring calming words, but she wasn't having it. Castor's hands found her muscular shoulder and he tried soothingly petting her, but she tossed her head, stomping her rear left hoof. He glanced over at it as she stomped it again. "Something wrong?" He spoke, almost to himself. Castor leaned down, running his hand down the leg, putting a small amount of pressure so she'd know to pick it up. She obliged and he saw a small piece of something that had gotten lodged in the hoof almost immediately. He turned to look for the nippers but before he could grab them she tossed her head again, moving her body and knocking him over. Castor gave a small grunt as he hit the stable floor and sighed, calling out to whoever was near, irritation clear in his voice. "Can anyone step inside ang give me a hand here?"
Claire had just been passing by the stables upon hearing a bit of commotion in the stables. Most times Claire wouldn't have bothered and continued on her way to wherever she was head. However Claire really didn't have anywhere to be. That at the familiar voice of Castor reached her ears. She wondered what trouble he had gotten into now. Making her way inside her blue eyes scanned the stables. It seemed the Greeks had not only changed the dynamic of the camp but also the stables.
Making her way down the rows of stalls until she found him. The brunette sat there crossing her arms and shaking her head with a smile. There she found the dark hair male sitting in the stall with the antsy unicorn. "Hey Cas..I don't think your supposed to be sitting in a stall with an antsy horse..." she said with a smirk. She knew Cas pretty well for they were both in third cohort. In her opinion he was fun to hang out with and chat with.
Pushing her hair out of her face she stepped into the stall. She couldn't not help him out after all. She guided the unicorn backwards before offering her hand to Castor. "Are they giving you a hard time?" she asked. She figured she was here and might as well help him if he needed it.
Castor sighed, leaning his head back against the wooden wall. The temperature was too warm in the stall. He could feel the sweat begin to run down his back. It wasn't that the weather outside was sweltering or anything like that. The mare's body was simply producing too much heat from her nervous movements. The stall wasn't the largest area and between her and him in the small space, the son of Mercury was ready to abandon it all and go jump in the pool. Thankfully, someone had heard his plea for help and he looked up as Claire came into view, looking over the stall door. He gave her a wave of his hand, a tired smile on his lips. "Yeah, thanks. My next attempt was going to try and play chess with her but your advice sounds much better."
Claire walked into the stall, the space filling with another body. Normally he would be concerned, especially if it had been any other animal. Unicorns were similar to their mortal ancestors though, sometimes confinement could help. You just had to know what you were doing. Castor took her outstretched hand, standing up, not bothering to dust himself off. "Yeah, you could say that." He ran his hands over the mare's body, murmuring soothing words before turning his attention back to Claire. "She has something stuck in her shoe. I think I can get it out, but there's too much going on. I couldn't get her to calm down." He knew Claire wouldn't have much in the gifts department. Her father was Mars and not exactly known for calming effects on equine. He nodded in the direction of the wall nearest her. "See that towel? I need you to slowly cover her eyes. That should calm her down enough to let me get it out."
Castor let Claire hold the mare steady while he leaned over and grabbed the snippers from the wall. He was nowhere near the farrier that some Apollo or even Vulcan kids were but he knew he could get it out. It hadn't looked deep enough to warrant needing anything or anyone more skilled. If he had to guess, he would say it was probably something she stepped on right before being led in. With all of the incoming traffic they would all have to be more careful around the space.
He waited for Claire to give him the word. "I don't think she'll care once I actually get her hoof to where I can work on it, but the more calm and still you could get her the better it'll be for all of us." He gave her a supportive grin
Claire couldn't help but chuckle at his predicament. Most times she was often the one getting herself into situations she needs help with. Not that she would ever admit to it of course. Though there was a few situations she had more or less picked a fight with a few campers who stole her dagger. The dagger never left her side not even now. So when they pulled a prank and took it while she had it in near herself while training. Let's just say she tossed a few punches. An angry Claire was not a pleasant thing. She could occasionally lose her temper but it took a lot to get to that point. Most times she could be calm and relaxed.
"Who would of thought a unicorn could get the best of Castor...I am shocked" she teased lightly. Claire reached over carefully for the towel but never turning her back on the mare. Last thing she needed was for the mare to freak out again. Once she hat it she moved carefully and slowly. Gently she draped the towel over her eyes. She made sure it was secure before even thinking of letting Castor get to work.
When she was confident that it would hold and that she would keep her steady she looked over at him with her blue eyes. "Alright I think she is good" she said to him calmly. She watched him as he worked. Claire had never been perfect with horses but she knew the basics from working in the stables on occasion.
Claire made a crack at a unicorn getting the best of him and he laughed lightly "Compared to my half-siblings she's a walk in the park." It was a full-time job keeping his siblings under control. They were apparently better behaved than their Greek counterparts, but they did their fair share of getting into trouble. He had spent countless a night trying to wrangle them in as they had snuck out past curfew. Or when they skipped classes they found too tedious or boring. Or when one of them got the awful urge to pull a prank. He would rather deal with an antsy equine knocking him down repeatedly than half of the stuff they pulled.
Castor waited for the all-clear from Claire before moving. When she spoke up he nodded, his hand gently touching the unicorn's leg. "Alright Viribus, let's take it easy. We're just trying to help." He moved his hand down, applying pressure and holding the hoof carefully. Castor squatted down and got a better grip on the area. "Keep her nice and still. I really don't want to end up with a horseshoe to the face. Much too handsome for that." He grinned at his little joke as he made sure that he spoke nice and easy, no quick or negative inflections in his voice. "I see it." He murmured before getting the snippers and pulling out the shard.
He had been right, it was something small and thankfully, not deep. He pulled the item out and let the unicorn's hoof go back down. "There. How is that hmm?" He nodded to Claire to take the towel off her eyes. He made sure to watch her, in case she still couldn't put weight on it. Castor put the snippers back on the wall and held up the item to show Claire. A golden charm that looked like it belonged on a necklace or bracelet. "I think it's from a Greek. I've seen a few of them wear necklaces with little charms on them." He held it out to Claire for her to inspect.
The unicorn hadn't stomped her feet since he had removed the item and he let out a small breath of relief. He was thankful they wouldn't have to call anyone over. Of course that also meant he had to get back to work, but one little break wouldn't hurt anything. "Thanks for helping, what did I drag you from?"
Claire couldn't help but grin at his comment as a result to her teasing. "Oh yes and that was certainly obvious from you sitting in the stall" she joked lightly. She was careful to keep the mare still as possible. She was well aware of how much trouble others could get into. Of course Claire on occasion could be one of those few who got into trouble. Most times it was an argument and she was losing her cool. Though in her defense there was always a reason behind it. She would never threaten a fight without reason, most of the time.
Claire watched as he talked to the unicorn to have a look at her hoof. "We don't wanna mess up the pretty face do we" she said with a smirk on her face. She was sure that the unicorn stayed calm and didn't move. She didn't want to be the reason Castor got hurt. She always tried to look after her friends. At least to the best of her ability. Though her attention turned to him after she removed the towel and took a step back. She moved towards him to inspect the charm in which he found. "That's what it looks like to me..." she said to him.
When he questioned about what she was doing before she gave a shrug. "Nothing of importance...wandering around mainly. You know cause I needed a break of training. What other work do you need done? Maybe I can make myself useful and give you a hand." she said in response. She didn't mind helping when she had no where else to be in the meantime.
Claire made a joke about messing up his pretty face and Castor chuckled, "No we don't. I actually have a date tonight." It had been a little while since he had been on a date. The last one had been three months ago. It hadn't gone well, but it hadn't gone to Pluto either. It just hadn't been what he was hoping for. He knew this one had much better odds. If he was being honest, she had him more in her pocket than he'd like to admit.
Castor held the little gleaming piece of jewelry out to Claire and as she confirmed it, he frowned. They would all have to be more careful. Thankfully, he hadn't seen anything of the sort lying around in other place, but the more bodies that crowded into camp, the higher the odds that slip-ups would happen. Slip-ups that could injure humans as well as equines. "I may ask the Vulcan kids if they can come up with something to sweep the area of debris on rotation." At least then they could ensure the safety of the stables. As for the rest of the camp, he had no clue.
Castor grabbed a nearby brush and began rhythmically brushing the unicorn as he listened to Claire speak. He was glad he hadn't kept her from anything important. As she offered to help him he gave a half-grin. "I'm cleaning the stables out today. Are you sure you want to volunteer?" He held out the brush that he had been using on the mare out to her in offer. He wasn't sure if she'd take him up on it, it wasn't the most glamorous job on campus to say the least. "If you're really offering, I would appreciate the help. If you could give her a nice once-over with the brush, I'll finish mucking the stall?"
Claire couldn't help but laugh when he said he had a date. "Oh then we definitely don't want to ruin the pretty face" she teased lightly. Claire meant nice but she couldn't help but tease her friend a little bit. It was just who she was and she would never wish and ill will on her friends. She brushed a few strands of her hair out of her face. She listened intently to his suggestion to keep the stables safer for all the horses. "Yeah that might be a good idea. They last thing we need is a unicorn or something getting hurt and freaking out and injuring someone" she said to him. It was that very thing that made her glad they didn't rely on beads but their tattoos.
"It is either I help you or go start another round of training. I got no messages to run so why not be productive and help a friend" she said with a smile. Very few would volunteer to help clean the stables but really she didn't mind. "Besides maybe you can catch me up on this whole date of yours. It's been a while since we had time to just relax and chat" she added with a light grin on her face. She wasn't lying though they both were often busy. If she wasn't training she was running messages, that and Castor was Centurion which kept him busy too.
Claire reached over and took the the brush from him. Brushing was an easy task to say the least, nothing like mucking the stalls. She moved to give the unicorn a good brushing while he did his part. "Besides your doing the dirty work" she stated looking over at him with her blue eyes.
Claire laughed, verifying that indeed they did not want to ruin his face and he chuckled, "Exactly. See, you get it." He was excited about his evening's activities. The quicker he got done with his duties for the day, the better. Castor nodded as Claire mentioned the possibility of an animal getting hurt. It was something no one wanted and even though he was sure that the charm had been an accident, it could have caused an injury. They would all have to do better, that was certain.
Claire replied to his question and he nodded his head, a small chuckle on his lips. "I'd hate to pull anyone away from training, but I would appreciate the help." He was relieved she had offered to help. He had thought maybe it was a half-offer out of obligation, but that hadn't seemed to have been the case. He was thankful. She brought up his date and the two being able to catch up and he nodded again, "Yeah, it's been a while. The Greek's arrival has caused everything to kick into overdrive. I swear I've never seen camp have this many meetings." Claire took the brush from him and he laughed as she mentioned he was the one doing the dirty work, "Eh, I'll still take the help."
He grabbed the pitch fork and began shoveling the hay from the inside of the stall to the outside of it where a wheelbarrow sat. He carefully avoided both the unicorn and Claire as he began cleaning the area. "My date is actually a Greek girl. Scarlet, a daughter of Hades. It's weird not to say cohort." A grin came to his face as he thought of her. The Greek girl who had in one afternoon completely wrapped him around her finger. A task which had never, to date, been accomplished.
Castor moved back in and glanced over at Claire, a grin still on his face, "And what about you? Do I need to keep my eye on anyone sneaking into the barracks?" It was mostly a joke, but there was always of course half seriousness with it. He didn't mind campers dating, but he did mind them sneaking out. He leaned against the pitchfork, stopping just a moment to take a sip of water from the bottle he had balancing on the edge of the stall's window.
"Besides I always have time to hang out with a friend. If I trained every hour of the day certainly I would have collapsed by now. Especially after training with Jax" she said. She gave him a smile as she worked on grooming the unicorn carefully. She was well aware of how hectic things had become. If she wasn't training she was running messages back and forth. "Oh trust me I know...sometimes I am running message after message. Can be exhausting running from one side of camp to the other" she told him. She didn't mind the job it often got her out of digging trenches which was nice.
A grin played on her face when he said it was a Greek who he had a date with. She found it interesting as some Romans couldn't stand the Greeks. "Well that certainly is interesting...how did she manage to catch your attention?" she asked. She didn't mind the Greeks. They didn't have anywhere else to go that was safe. Of course tensions were rising but they had to deal with it as best they could. "Definitely weird not to say Cohort as that is all we have truly known to say" she noted.
"Oh please like I don't think I have caught anyone's attention..." she said with a laugh. What she said was truthful though she joked about it. She hadn't met anyone who had caught her eye and she was unaware if she had caught anyone's eye. Maybe it was because she was always training and didn't give herself the luxury to actually loosen up like that.
A small laugh came out of Castor's lips at the mention of training all the time and Jax. "Yeah, you two need to go easy on each other." He knew the two had a history of training sessions that usually ended up in the Infirmary. He also knew it was pointless to tell them to go easy as well, but he wouldn’t be much of a Centurion if he didn't. It was like asking a child of Apollo not to heal things or a certain daughter of Hades to not be so attractive. Some things just simply were. "Is that the biggest draw to camp for you? The training?" He wasn't critical or judgmental at all. He was simply curious. He was partial to the training as well. Though lately New Rome had begun to take over his thoughts. It was normal of course, he wasn't far from retiring. He was just glad he had a safe place to retire to.
Claire asked about Scarlett and he was glad he wouldn't have to deal with any disparaging comments on the matter. He knew eventually it would happen, but he was still pleased it wouldn't be from Claire. He stuck the pitchfork into the hay, carefully removing another pitch full before answering the question. "That's true. They call themselves campers. Honestly, she's different than any girl that I've ever met." He met her eyes, giving a shrug. She truly was worlds different. She was bold and witty while being kind and utterly sweet. She was unique and different and had him already following after her like a lost puppy. Castor moved back into the stall, glancing over with a grin at Claire. "Plus she's gorgeous. I really didn’t stand a chance." He moved back to his work, quietly listening to her.
After she spoke, Castor stopped, standing the pitch fork up so he could lean over it with his hands clasped, watching her. He had a soft grin on his lips, "Why wait to catch someone else's attention? Fortune favors the bold Claire." It was a motto that he tended to live by. He had never been good at holding back when it came to girls. If he saw someone he liked, he tended to make a move. His tone turned more serious, his eyes meeting hers. "Training is great but that's not all there is to life. Sometimes it's good to find other things that make you happy." He knew she had a few more years in service to the legion, but he also knew how fast they could go by.
Claire couldn't help but laugh when he told her to go easy. "That just isn't our style. I am determined to beat him eventually" she said with a light shrug. Of course for Claire there was more to camp than just training. Not that one could tell because often that was what she was doing. To her she could think more clearer when training alone. Plus oftentimes it kept her from punching someone who made her angry. "I mean no...maybe, I don't know...there are other things. I guess training just keeps me focused and helps me clear my head. Besides its better than me getting up to know good. One less demigod for you to be chasing around" she told him. She let out a light hearted laugh.
Claire couldn't help but laugh at his comments about the girl. She had neve heard him so head over heels for someone. "Man Castor she really has you head over heels. Never seen you like this before" she teased lightly. She meant nothing by it of course. Simply it was nice seeing him happy. She looked up to Castor and would always be there for him.
Though his next comment certainly had her thinking. She had always put the legion first maybe more than she cared to admit to. Besides she was never good at relationships. She had a few throughout high school and one or two here, none of them had ended well. Maybe she was cautious or scared. Though Claire would never openly say she was scared. "I don't know...can't say I have had much luck with relationships..." she said. That or those she liked often were already taken but she wasn't going to tell him that. Her blue gaze looked to him as his tone became more serious. "I know but sometimes its much easier putting the legion first or wielding a blade than it is to talking to someone you like..." she told him. Claire dropped her gaze from his and continued to brush the unicorn in long slow strokes.
Castor chuckled as Claire spoke about Jax. Sibling rivalry would always be a thing, but it was especially bad in the Mars bloodline. He supposed Mercury had their own issues. While his siblings didn't tend to thieve as much as their Greek counterparts did, they had their own fair share of issues. Sometimes he could swear that he could sense Isaak slipping out of bed to go cavorting around camp. "Well, you didn't hear this from me but if you want to get him off of his game just tell him his haircut is stupid." He hadn't personally used the line but he had been near someone who had and whatever words came after were cut short by the pair brawling in the Mess Hall. He doubted Jax would actually harm his half-sister over a comment, but it might be enough to get an edge on the boy.
Castor laughed when she mentioned it was one less demigod to be chasing after. That was the gods honest truth. "That's very true." When he had first accepted the role of centurion he had assumed most of his time would be spent defending their borders. Instead, he found that most of his time involved chasing his co-hort legionnaires back into their beds. Occasionally, out of their beds if they missed their classes but it was usually the former. He had gotten to where the days spent guarding the border were a lucky reprieve.
Claire teased him and Castor just shrugged. He knew it was more than a little surprising. He had been open and welcomed the whole idea of the Greek camp, but he had never thought he'd be in a relationship with one. He had assumed there were way too many differences. Way too much that pointed them in opposite directions. He had clearly been wrong. "Life is funny like that sometimes."
Castor listened quietly as she began talking about relationships. A topic that neither had ever actually talked to the other about before. He could tell she was wary about the topic and he tried to keep his tone light. "I understand. But if you ever want to talk about it, you know where I live." He gave a half-grin. That was a part of the job that he welcomed. He didn’t mind the talks and the teaching that required patience after patience. He didn't mind one bit if he was asked about something a thousand times or had to repeat himself over and over. It was all part of the job and actually helping his legionnaires was his favorite part.
Claire seemed to give a nod at Castors comment. She had never though of insulting his appearance to get an edge on Jax. The idea was a great one nonetheless. "I will definitely have to keep that one in mind of course" she responded to him. She wondered if in a spar if it would work. Didn't hurt to give it a try of course. It would most likely be that she gained a small edge or that it just him angrier. The next spar she planned to give it a try. Though Castor seemed relieved about not having to chase her around camp at night.
Claire didn't hate the Greeks. She dislike a portion of them but not really sure on the reasoning behind it entirely. Maybe it was a worry bout what they might do or cause. Or maybe it was the lack of trust Of course she would never openly admit it to Castor. She would be lying if she wasn't worried about him seeing a Greek. Of course in the end it was his choice.
The relationship conversation never came up. Mostly out of Claire's fear of love. She didn't want to break down those wall she had created. The very things holding her back. She only nodded as he spoke to her, "Oh trust me I know where you are" she said to him. It was so difficult to talk about and think about let alone share it with him. She was unsure what to tell him. "I just...don't know where to start when it comes to relationships. I know weapons better than I do people.
[attr="class","THREAD1TAG"] WORDS (optional) Castor Boyd
Castor returned Claire's grin as she spoke about giving Jax a hard time about his hair. "Well if you do, don't let him know where you got the idea from." He gave a small chuckle. He didn't actually care too much about Jax finding out. The other boy was a force to be reckoned with sure, but Castor could hold his own. He had enough practice with Dareios to know how to handle children from Mars. The best tactic was usually to teleport. You couldn't hit what wasn't there. If you gave them an inch however, they would take a mile. The best offense when it came to children from the god of war was a solid defense.
He nodded when Claire spoke about knowing weapons better than people. He could understand the sentiment. People came naturally to him, but that was only because he had lots and lots of practice in the matter. "Everything gets better with practice. You weren't always great at swordplay or archery. That's why we practice." He paused to run his hands over the equine. She was calming, finally. He made a mental note to ask one of the kids from Apollo or Trivia to come check her out and make sure there wasn't anything else lurking that they needed to know about it.
He moved his attention back to the brunette. "Start with the younger kids in your cohort. A lot of them look tough as nails, but it's just a wall. Talk to them, offer to help with training. You might be surprised with how good you are." He had faith in her. She seemed to actually have a desire to help and that was always a solid starting point. Castor moved the last bit of clean hay into the fresh stall. He stepped outside of the stable, holding the door for her. "Ready to move on?"
