[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]PERSONALITY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
[ ARROGANT ] - wolf thinks he's right, in pretty much any and every scenario. he's pretty smart, and cunning, and powerful for a demigod, so he thinks this gives him plenty of reason to be condescending to others. he's also impatient - when he sees the clear and obvious answer, he can't wait around for other people to reach the same conclusion as him. he's stubborn and argumentative, and won't back down from his opinion - and wolf's a bit of a sore loser. he overestimates his own intelligence and ability, and this gets him into trouble a lot. irritatingly, though, the guy is right a lot of the time.
[break][break]
[ VAIN ] - as with his firm belief in his own intelligence and capabilities, wolf also thinks quite highly of his own looks. he doesn't really care if other people find him attractive or not, because he's not the kind of person who relies on validation from others. he also doesn't really care if girls pursue him or not - especially if he feels a girl isn't 'in his league'. the main effect of his vanity is that he thinks he's superior in this area as well. he does take care of his hair and his face, but not really to the point where others might mock him about taking too long in the baths.
[break][break]
[ HEARTLESS ] - to be quite honest, wolf is incapable of thinking of anyone but himself. he's rude and selfish, and can't sympathise, much less empathise. he has no cares for the troubles or pains of others, except for perhaps the very few friends he has. he will gladly sacrifice or step on others in his pursuit of glory, and does not really have a moral compass. if he sees his goal, he will stop at nothing to get there, even if it means hurting others. his friends often have to remind him of when he has to be more socially adept, like when it might be a good idea to apologise. it is primarily this quality that resulted in the curse that was placed on him.
[break][break]
[ RECKLESS ] - because of his arrogance and his bullheadedness, wolf tends to get into things face-first. he doesn't wait for anyone else; if he thinks he has a solution, he will march on ahead, even if it might be to the detriment of others. wolf's plan is usually "charge", and he doesn't care if others would disagree. he also used to push the limits of his powers, not caring in the least if it would tire him out quicker - his own inflated belief in himself usually meant he'd suddenly collapse after burning out. even now, with his cursed state, he still edges along and pushes the limits of what he can and can't do.
[break][break]
[ POSSESSIVE ] - wolf likes what's his, and because he is selfish, he doesn't like to share. this makes him possessive, but not necessarily just of his material things. he's possessive over his style, over his uniqueness and abilities. he is possessive of his independence, but also of the few friends he has, and he is possessive about the position he feels he occupies in society and the respect he feels he deserves. he is possessive of attention, as he can't stand being dismissed or ignored when he demands to be in the centre of things.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]BIOGRAPHY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
[ FATHER ] - axel kühn, mortal, researcher and controversial media personality[break]
[ MOTHER ] - trivia, goddess of magic, witchcraft, necromancy, and the night[break]
[ SIBLINGS ] - n/a[break][break]
Claimed: Yes[break]
Years at camp: Seven[break][break]
It was a twist of irony that Axel Kühn, a self-professed conspiracy theorist 'debunker', would find himself attracted to the uncontrollable force of magic that was Trivia. Perhaps she had decided to play around with the mortal man to humble him and show him he did not in fact have all logic when it came to the unexplained. Maybe she wanted him to struggle with raising a 'freak' son who defied everything the unbeliever mortal knew. No matter Trivia's true reasons for consorting with Axel, she left him with a big problem: how to raise a demigod. [break][break]
Wolf's parentage and inexplicable abilities caused him to be hidden by his father pretty much ever since he was born. Axel never interacted with his son, only with the (lline of) nannies that had been hired to look after Wolf. Wolf's birthdays were never celebrated, and when he started displaying magic at seven, even the nannies were ceased in fear of the information being leaked that his son was different. Axel's biggest problem became his biggest secret, and he hid Wolf not because he loved his son, but because he was afraid what it would do to his reputation.[break][break]
The young demigod therefore learned everything on his own. The few nannies he'd had had taught him the basics in reading, writing, and maths, and Wolf sought to teach himself from then. It was a difficult and long road, but Wolf was determined. Besides, he didn't exactly have a lot else to do. Day in, day out, from the moment he woke to the moment he went to sleep, Wolf studied and practiced his magic. It was this isolation that caused him to have little regard for others' feelings, and why he had never needed anyone else. He was raised with no companions except his own self, with no goals or dreams or progress planned for him, so Wolf took control of is own life and lived by his own rules, even if it was in the prison his father made him. The boy was determined at the very least to be smart and resourceful, if only to spite his father.[break][break]
He was fourteen when he first lost control of his magic. Even at that age, he already had an inflated sense of ego, having never had others to compare himself with, or bring him back down to earth. That was the day Wolf decided to break out of his prison and fracking near exploded the house with himself in it. The firefighters and police blamed it on a gas leak, but Axel wasn't fooled in the least. While Wolf was in the hospital being treated for his injuries (they had to sedate him because he'd reacted like a wild animal, being surrounded by all these people in masks and surgery coats), Trivia visited Axel about her son's predicament. She had not been happy about how Wolf had been treated.[break][break]
When Wolf was discharged, he was brought by his father straight to the Wolf House. The man never spoke a word to his son for the whole car ride, and that was just fine by Wolf. He exited the vehicle and never looked back; he didn't even ask his father what he was doing here. Anywhere else was better than anything with Axel, as far as Wolf was concerned. And so he stepped into the Wolf House with no expectations.[break][break]
Due to his own training with his magic, Wolf did well enough in that regard, but the physical training was difficult. He'd never had anywhere to run before, so physical activity strained him. His muscles were weak and his lungs laboured. In the early days, Wolf had been so frustrated by this unexpected roadblock that he often lashed out at Lupa with his magic. She had taken it in stride, of course, and only forced him harder with his combat training. Wolf had resented her for a while, before he realised he truly progressed under her harsh tutelage. After all, Wolf had never shied away from anything that involved making him the best - physical combat was just another thing he had to conquer.[break][break]
Finally, he graduated from the Wolf House and he made his way to Camp Jupiter with recommendation for Second Cohort. The transition from his home life to the Wolf House to the legion was not smooth. Wolf did not have any social skills, and he had to learn the hard way how to interact with others. The Romans were not very forgiving when it came to his trash talk and his bragging, so Wolf learned to internalise that behaviour. He never stopped thinking he was better than others, he just preferred to show rather than tell, and when he showed, he was not in the least bit kind about it. It wasn't really all that difficult to figure out who his parent was, considering his magical abilities, but he was not claimed by his mother for months.[break][break]
He had already been a legionnaire for four years when he was sent out to collect a demigod. The boy, Callum, had been horribly injured, and while Wolf was not particularly sympathetic to the other boy's pain, Wolf was determined not to fail in his task. Wolf was no healer, but he worked some magic to keep Callum's injuries to a minimum, at least enough to get him to camp. (Wolf was not mindful in the least about how he brought Callum to the legion.) Only when the boy was brought to the infirmary and the healers had a look at him that they concluded his injury was magical, and the only reason it had healed for that short period of time was because Wolf had been the one to find him. [break]][break]
Care for Callum therefore rested on Wolf, to his annoyance, and when it became clear that the injury was practically a disease that couldn't be completely healed, Wolf was furious. Mostly because it was something he couldn't accomplish, but also because he was now stuck with having to look after someone else. A big part of him wanted to leave Callum to his fate, but his Praetors - and eventually even the administration in New Rome - refused to let him. In a twist of fate, the female centurion of their cohort left camp for New Rome, and Wolf seized the opportunity. He demanded that he be made centurion in exchange for keeping Callum alive. Wolf was pretty sure he'd have been decked for his impunity, but eventually (and perhaps with a lot of debate) his Praetors relented and he was awarded his position.[break][break]
Most unfortunately for him, Callum has never left his side since.[break][break]
Callum was with Wolf when they went on a quest to find a missing legionnaire. Their travels took them to Circe's Island, where they found out the legionnaire had been turned into a dog somewhere amongst Circe's menagerie. Never having all that much tact, Wolf decided the best way to get the legionnaire back and complete the mission was to simply walk in and get him out. Unsurprisingly, they were caught by Circe, and Wolf's complete lack of social graces (and arrogantly deciding he could fight her for the legionnaire) infuriated Circe to the point that she placed a curse on him. A slow one, meant to humiliate and debilitate Wolf, and taking away his greatest pride and joy: his magic. Circe couldn't outright remove his magic, of course, but she made it so that every spell he cast caused him to slowly turn into a huge, winged beast.[break][break]
Wolf had never been particularly close to his mother, so imagine his surprise when Trivia herself arrived in camp when they finally made it home. Upon finding out from her son about the curse, Trivia decided to enact revenge herself. Wolf doesn't know the specifics, but he does know his mother went on a rampage, spitting fire about getting her own back on one of Circe's children. From then on, Wolf made sure to always thank his mother during meal times; he could support a vengeful goddess who had his back.[break][break]
Nowadays, Wolf is in an even worse mood than usual due to his curse. Healing Callum every week takes up a fair portion of his allotted magic, but he can't renege on his deal with the Praetors or else he would lose his position. Wolf had had enough humiliation with Circe's curse without being demoted. And so he continues to live his days, rationing his magic as best as he can, as the embers of his rage fester within him. One day, he was going to make Circe pay.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]POWERS, SKILLS & WEAPONS
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
[ MYSTIOKINESIS ] - wolf's main power is mystiokinesis. it is a huge part of his life, as he has been able to tap into his magic deliberately since he was very young. he can move things with a flick of his fingers, make things explode, and various other material manipulations. he has minor control over the elements - he can light torches with his hand, create controlled snowfall etc - but has better control over 'space'. he can create strong magical barriers and with a bit of umbrakinesis, can create 'cloaks of darkness' to hide himself and / or others. he can manipulate force to strike invisibly against an opponent (like an invisible punch to the chest), and can simply throw enemies using a form of telekinesis. he can disguise things as other things, or make them 'disappear', or create what he calls Shades of people or things, like a hologram of something that isn't really there.
[break][break]
weaknesses: he can't make something real out of nothing, ie he can't make a real, edible buffet from thin air. he can make a Shade of it, but it is nothing more than an illusion. as with all demigod abilities, every time he pulls on his magic, he pays for it in energy. the longer or more difficult his spell is, the faster he runs out of stamina. because he overestimates himself, he has passed out many times from overexertion, and / or had blood drip from his nose due to the sheer willpower he uses to keep the spell going.
[break][break]
curse: wolf's curse causes him to slowly change into a huge winged beast. every time he casts a spell, no matter how small, a part of him will grow feathers - larger and longer spells causes his body parts to actually change into a man-sized bird's, with talons and beak and wings. after a while, he does slowly turn back into a human, but the longer the curse festers in his body, the longer and slower it takes to turn back into his demigod self. no one yet knows if he can turn back to human if he completes his shift into a beast, and this is the first and only thing in his life that wolf doesn't want to risk.
[break][break]
[ MIST CONTROL ] - a useful ability in quests but not so much within camp, wolf can manipulate the mist, and he does this pretty well. his skill in creating illusions for mortals only grew when he became a legionnaire and was regularly sent out on quests - practicing on unsuspecting mortals became a bit of a game for wolf during that time.
[break][break]
[ MINOR NECROMANCY ] - as child of the goddess of ghosts, wolf has a minor ability to summon the dead. he doesn't particularly enjoy using it, and really only does it if he feels it is the best idea in a fight, maybe as a distraction or to tire someone out. for sure, wolf has no desire to communicate with them. he does see ghosts sometimes, but he prefers not to look or interact with them at all.
