Empaths are often deeply and profoundly affected by those around them and the emotions they are surrounded by, Ashlynn is no different. She is a quiet, confident, calm and intelligent soul who is affected particularly profoundly by those around her and thus her decisions are often informed by the needs of the wider community around her. She strives to protect those around her, an extrovert to the bone. Under all of the empathy and the quiet confidence Ash is calculating, vain and even vengeful. Her eldest brother often calls her mysterious, for she rarely reveals her motives or goals...

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]BIOGRAPHY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
The story of the Sloan family begins thousands of years prior in the kingdom of Wessex, before the notion of a united England (let alone United Kingdom) had truly been born with the birth of Alfred the Great. Before the death of his brother, the king, Alfred sired a bastard born child with the Goddess Venus. Not only did Venus give him a son but she bestowed much attention upon him until he shunned her child, as kings and princes of the time often did, when she turned her back upon him. She did not exact revenge upon him, however, as he ascended to the throne and earned the favour of another aspect of Olympia for his ambition and cunning; Zeus. Zeus came to the king in the guise of one Saint Cuthbert, a very holy saint in the eyes of the Saxons, commanding Alfred to seek out two demigods before facing the Danes in the field; an ealdorman of Northumbria and the ealdorman of Devonshire. These sons of Ares and Athena respectively would provide the tactical genius and ferocity required to break the shield wall and defeat the son of Poseidon, Siggurd Bloodhair, who fought for Guthrum’s danes.
[break][break]
Alfred’s success at Eðandun earned him more favour from Zeus, and the ire of Poseidon for it was Alfred who slew his son. To protect his investment and see his goals met Zeus gifted a crown to the King of Wessex, magical artifacts that would amplify his intellect and his virtues but also being a mortal it would amplify his physical burdens eventually claiming his life. Before his death Alfred laid the groundwork for the England we know today and installed his daughter, Aethelflaed, as the Lady of Mercia through marriage and so Zeus bedded the Lady of Mercia leading to the birth of Aelfwynn who would go onto support Alfred’s son Edward in the campaign to forge England. Aelfwynn wore the crown until the day of her death when Edward claimed the relic for himself, which would pass through the line of Kings for hundreds of years to follow until one claimed them who had wronged Zeus; Richard the Third. It was at the battle of Bosworth where Zeus reclaimed the gift he had given so long ago by smashing Richard’s body into near oblivion, ending the war and he called upon his son Henry VII to bury the relic within Alfred the Great’s tomb. Henry’s line, tied closely to that of Alfred and Aethelflaed, remained in power for centuries until the Sloan line emerged as little more than a family of merchants who could claim loose royal lineage. When Ashlynn’s great-great grandmother was born a demigod, a child of Nemesis, the Sloan family (though under another name) rose to prominence once more as the Demigod took the office of Prime Minister though she would come to be one of the most hated prime ministers, at least by the common folk.
[break][break]
The family fell quiet once more in the wake of her time in office until Ashlynn was born after a long term affair between her father, a nuclear physicist and historian, and the Goddess Hecate. The affair first led to the birth of Arthur, so named for the first male Demigod in the line, then Ashlynn and after her came Alfred and Genevieve. All four children from the affair were raised without their mother as Zeus’ decree took almost all contact with her from them as the King of the Gods watched the children of his brothers, and the children of Hecate, warily. He chose not to take action against the children of Hecate, especially when she assured him that her children would forever be loyal to Olympus and upon their arrival at Camp Halfblood they proved to be loyal over and over putting themselves in harms way to protect the other children of the Gods, even against their own kin who sided with the Titans. Ashlynn proved to be an effective warrior and a calm leader, always looking out for those around her but she struggled to master the magic burning in her veins. Her older brother was the first to master it, proving to be a capable magician particularly in the manipulation of the elements and then the twins mastered their gifts yet Ashlynn still struggled to even tap into the smallest portions of her power. Just three weeks before the burning of Camp Halfblood her mother’s voice echoed in her head, telling her to seek out the relics of her forebears within the tomb of Alfred the Great and ever the dutiful daughter she set off to do just that. She faced challenges which she will not discuss, with anyone, on the path but she reclaimed them from the depths of the earth.
[break][break]
When she returned Camp Halfblood was burning, her life was burning and she had no idea why.
[break][break]
Quickly Ash joined the rescue efforts under the direction of Chiron, wearing the crown as if born to it. She rescued as many Demigods as she could but she could not save her best friend, the cabin leader for the minor demigods burned along with their home and all of their belongings. Without a leader for the minor demigods many of them naturally turned to the one who’d helped to save them and reluctantly Ash stepped into the role, defacto, always determined that another will take up the mantle of leadership when the time came.

The sigils; Ashlynn’s magic is not of the elements nor the physical plane but of the mind, the spirit. The power coursing through her veins, in her blood, acts as a conduit to pull upon energies from beyond the veil in the underworld. She can reach out and corrupt the minds of those around her, twisting their senses to her will and even completely cutting them off from reality for minutes at a time. Her illusions are so powerful that they can convince the mind of the victim they are real, that the pain is real and the injuries are genuine right up until the illusions are lifted. Each illusion is fuelled by a sigil which can either be drawn on a surface, in her blood, for the most potent illusions or channelled through deep focus which cannot be disturbed at which point the sigils burn themselves into her skin, small but incredibly painful the moment her focus is broken. The most powerful, and painful, sigil is the sigil of the mists. The Sigil of the Mists is the only sigil which changes the physical world rather than creating illusions, when triggered the sigil envelops a 5km region in choking mists which cling to the skin like ice, fill the lungs and fill the minds of those touched with their deepest fears. She has only used the Sigil of the Mists once and it is now burned into her back, between her shoulders.
[break]The agony was excruciating.
[break][break]
Crown of Command; The Crown of Command was a gift from the king of the Gods to Alfred, King of Wessex. A beautiful crown of silver and bronze rests easily upon the brow of the wearer filling them with power. The crown is an amplifier meaning that it enhances the natural abilities of the wearer, making them stronger, faster, smarter, more charismatic and even amplifying her magical abilities. Though the crown is missing the most powerful element, a large emerald which grants the wearer the power to issue commands with the divine right of the Gods. This empowerment comes at a price though as it amplifies the wearer's flaws as well, in the case of Alfred this was his body’s fatal flaw and in the case of Ash it amplifies her vanity and her confidence, pushing her to the point of arrogance. One can only wear the crown for short periods of time as the longer one wears the crown the more the power of the Gods (even so little of it) twists her, if she wears the crown for too long it will change her irreversibly.
