Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

Okay, to be perfectly honest, Nadine wasn't one hundred percent sure what the quest was about. All she really understood was that they would be going somewhere potentially dangerous - as most quests usually were - and they involved... obtaining something. Probably. It would never be quite so straightforward, she was sure, and they did have to get to the destination in the first place, but this was it. This was what she had been waiting for. She was eighteen now and this was her opportunity to become a Centurion.
It was with both nerves and excitement that she made her way to the tunnel mouth. The morning was crisp and cool, winter well on its way, and Nadine found herself practically thrumming, so ready to get out and explore but also to just go on an adventure with her friends. And let's be real, the chaos was always so much more fun out in the mortal world; so many possibilities, so many people to infect, not to mention they made their own chaos, too. The last few weeks had been stressful - late nights talking to boys had resulted in being late to marching drills the next morning, and Nadine needed her eight hours of sleep minimum. She knew it was her own fault, of course, but that didn't mean she didn't repeat it again and again. That was just how it was.
And so she'd made the effort to actually be early this morning. Apparently, she'd given herself too much time to prepare - because with Nadine it was always too much time or not enough at all - and she was first at the tunnel. It was fine; when it came to her friends, she'd prefer to be early than late, anyway, and getting out into the mortal world was something she was always down for. Long dark hair loose over her shoulders for now, Nadine quickly ran a hand through it as she glanced back towards camp, keeping an eye out for her companions.
Nickie zipped up her backpack after going over her checklist not just once, but twice. Sort of like Santa Clause, if Santa had anxiety. She slipped the pack over her shoulders, tightening the straps so that it sat squarely on her frame. She slid her pugio into her strap at her ankle before rolling her pant leg down over it, another smaller pugio concealed against her hip and covered by her jacket. Her Spatha was secured onto her pack, and though it would take time to get it out, she didn't trust the weapon laying against her body as they traveled.
Thinking of travel, she touched the outside of her pocket where the map resided. One of five copies. One for each of her traveling companions and two for herself, one residing in her pocket and the other safely tucked in the pack. The only thing left was a compass that she pocketed into the other side of her pants.
Gods she hated using a compass. The last time had been during training when she had first joined the legion. She had gotten by, but not without a struggle. Digital maps and coordinates were superior for a reason. Unfortunately for the group, monsters were drawn to the signal and they couldn't take the risk. She checked in with her co-Centurion before heading out of the door of her barracks.
The morning was chilly and she found the nerves easing away the closer she got to the tunnel entrance, or rather, exit. She had been jittery as she had packed and gotten ready, but as her steps carried her, they all but vanished. There was a job to do. A task to be done and she would do it. Period. There wasn't any room for nerves. They were cast off the moment her mind began ticking down her mental task list. She glanced at her watch, knowing full well that she was early. She was always early.
As she came towards the opening, a figure caught her attention immediately and Nickie smiled, holding one hand up in a greeting. "Hey. You're early this morning." She closed the distance at an easy pace, noting that they were the first two there. Setting the pack down after making it to Nadine, Nickie opened the outside compartment and pulled out one of the copies of the map, offering it to the other girl. "Want a map?"
A quest to become centurion. How terrifying was that? When it was handed down to her, Tarissa had seriously debated bowing out, but when she found out who was going on it with her, well, that changed things. Christian, Nickie and Nadine were people she trusted, and she figured if they were there, she could get through this. It did not stop the fact that once she left those camp borders again that anything could happen. She had spent the morning getting ready, packing her bag, making sure she had any possible item she might want while they were gone. Grabbing a refillable water bottle, as well as some extra already filled ones she tossed them in her bag, It was making it heavier, but it was fine, it would be worth it in the long run. Tossing all of it on top of her perfectly rolled clothes she figured she was doing pretty well. She had been up super early, so her plan was to beg the others to stop at the first Starbucks they might come across, or Coffee Bean, they had far superior drinks in her opinion.
She threw in some snacks like almonds, dried fruit, some jerky, easy to munch on things while they were on the road. Tapping her finger against her leg she made sure all her toiletries she might need were already in there, then grabbed her brush, running it through her long hair a few times before tossing that in the bag too. Legacy of Venus did tend to make her a little vain at times. Tarissa checked everything, then triple checked before pulling the backpack up onto her back after securing her bedroll and spatha to it, her dagger strapped to her side, she had made sure to pull on her jacket, not wanting to shove it in her bag and not wanting to carry it. If it got too hot she would just slide it in her bag, but for now it would work. She didn't see Christian over by his bed and frowned, was she late? No, but that didn't mean she wouldn't be.
Running through the dining hall she grabbed a bag and shoved some bagels into for everyone, grabbed an apple and took a bite out of it as she headed to the tunnel entrance. Seeing Nadine and Nickie there she waved as she jogged up to them and held the bag out. "Breakfast. Eat up, energy is important. Also, I need coffee, as soon as we get out of here." she may have been feeling a little in overdrive, the nerves getting to her, but she was prepared all the same. " Where's Christian?" she frowned as she had expected him to be there since he wasn't in the barracks when she had left. " He wasn't there when I left, I thought I was late." she took another bite of apple and chewed as she looked around for the fourth to their crew.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] Christian didn’t need an alarm to get up as he was already up and getting ready way before it had a chance to even ring once. Events like these meant that he would most likely not sleep at all, the excitement and nervousness keeping him up all night before said day. Today was no different. No matter how often he tried to fall asleep it just didn’t work. He laid in his bunk, shifting and turning dozens of times before ultimately giving up and getting out of bed. As quietly as he could Christian grabbed everything he needed and everything he had packed the day before, tip-toeing out of the dark barracks, his arms filled with stuff.
Once he was outside he zipped open his backpack to make sure he had everything he needed before slinging it over his shoulders and walking towards the Caldecott Tunnel. He still had at least an hour before their appointed meeting time but that’s just how he rolled. Being late was a no-go for him, so he was always way too early. It was in his blood. Genes he inherited from his mother’s ancestors. Surely, he was the first one to arrive, the morning still too young for the birds to even bother waking up. Christian positioned himself in a small patch of trees, leaning against it as he waited for the others.
One after another they appeared out of the tunnel. Wary eyes watching closely with his arms crossed over his chest. "You are late," he said quite casually, his tall figure appearing from behind a tree. "And everyone's unprepared I see," the son of Mars added, shaking his head softly in a teasing manner. He made his way over to the group, four long strides easily carrying him to where his friends were standing, a simple black backpack slung over his shoulders. Christian gave the girls a quick look before shaking his head once more in disappointment at the lack of weapons on them, whereas he came fully prepared. His favorite blade, shrunk in its ring form, was curled around his right ring finger, the only place he felt comfortable wearing it despite the meaning behind a ring worn on one's right-hand ring finger aka the symbol of being in some sort of romantic relationship or engagements. It was a weird knack he had, just like wearing his watch on his right wrist even though that was his dominant hand.
A second, shorter gladius was strapped to his left thigh, as well as a set of Chinese ring daggers that rested against his right hip. One could easily presume he was obsessed with weapons but this wasn’t his first quest. While he was indeed obsessed with anything anyone can be stabbed with, one could never bring too many on a dangerous journey to wherever they were headed. Moving in a group of four made them an easy target for the monsters lurking around in the mortal world, eager to dig their claws into young demigods to devour them.
Christian stuck his hand into the bag Rissa offered, taking out one of the bagels. He ripped it into half before taking a bite, observant eyes wandering around the area. They rested on Nadine and Rissa for a moment, as those two were the ones this quest was all about. "What’s the plan?"
As Nadine stood waiting for the others, she began to wonder if she'd actually gotten the time for their meeting wrong. Was she too late and they'd gone on ahead without her? Or was she too early and she was going to stand here looking like an idiot for another hour? Even Christian wasn't here yet, and he was always ridiculously early. Nadine's mind flew into overdrive as she reached up another hand to flip her hair the other way, her eyes now darting towards the tunnel as she thought about going in and chasing after them if they'd left. Or were they waiting in the tunnel itself? Was she being stupid, standing out here waiting when everyone else was inside waiting for her? The daughter of Discordia bit on her lip as she thought of a list of possibilities of how it had gone so wrong so early, and had glanced back towards camp again, thankfully spotting Nickie in the horizon.
Although Nickie was heading towards her, Nadine still took a few steps in the other girl's direction, grin easy as she fell into step with her friend. "Oh my gods, I was so worried you guys had left without me," she said without preamble, not even bothering with a greeting, accepting the proffered map with a quick 'thanks'. Hardly waiting for her friend to respond, Nadine continued, "Like I was seriously considering running towards the tunnel in case I'd just missed you." Slightly embarrassed but more than fine with taking the joke, Nadine laughed just as Rissa joined them.
Without turning her back on Nickie, Nadine took a few steps towards Rissa, hand already reaching for the snack bag - her genius plan to be early this morning had meant sacrifices in some areas, and that particular area was breakfast. Usually, Nadine's hunger could be staved off until about mid-morning, anyway, and her main priority that morning had been to look okay. She could never leave the house without her look, even if she had to face monsters later on. Call it her armour. "Risssss," she said by way of greeting, pulling a bagel for herself and munching on it straight away. "You're a lifesaver. I skipped breakfast this morning because I didn't want to make youse wait for so long. Also I hundred percent agree on the coffee thing; I need some caffeeeine. Oh gods, you guys need to hear what Josh said to me last night, what the fcuk he's actually ridiculous."
It was purely the excitement of the day, of going on an adventure with her friends, that had Nadine so bright and chipper. The initial adrenaline would last her a good couple of hours, but undoubtedly she would need some sustenance or there would be some less-than-happy expressions later on. The fact that she was going somewhere without authority supervision with her best friends in camp meant Nadine was riding a strange high. She was waving around the bagel with one hand and was just about to launch into her story when Rissa asked where Christian might be and the demigod himself practically melted out of the shadows. While it was unexpected, Nadine couldn't say she was all too surprised. With a disgruntled look at the son of Mars, Nadine replied, "Yeah only because you were probably camping out here all night just so you could say you beat us." The words were waspish and the face matched the tone, but there was no real heat or irritation behind it.
Christian's words about preparedness made Nadine look around the group again. Everyone had backpacks - Christian probably had a whole arsenal - and the daughter of Discordia munched on her bagel thoughtfully as she pondered her own meager belongings. Christian's comment seemed pointed towards her own bag: a small backpack about half the size of everyone else's, and she rushed to defend herself. "Look, I actually like my clothes. I'm not going to risk getting them singed or stained or torn up." It was quite true; Nadine didn't think she was attached to a lot of things, but the clothes she had curated were very her and she didn't want to just run willy-nilly out into the mortal world and run the risk of not returning with all her clothes. She'd packed a couple of plain shirts and under things but no spare trousers because her backpack hardly fit any more than that. Her father, who'd heard about the quest, had gone ahead and changed some money for her, and Nadine had wads of cash all over her person - most of the bills were in the bag, but she had some in her shoes and in her pockets and the waistband of her jeans. They were all covered in ziplock bags to protect them from any kind of moisture, but their hiding places were deliberate. One never knew what might happen, and Nadine was prepared for anything. "Besides, I can just get what I need out there. I'd be less attached to it that way. I have the essentials, don't worry about me." The rest of her bag was filled with a small water bottle, her chapstick, mini hotel toiletries her step-mother made her bring, and a small compact that she used for Iris messages. Distractedly, Nadine muttered to herself, "Fcuk, I hope I brought extra eyeliner."
As Nickie got closer, Nadine confessed that she had thought that the group might have left without her and Nickie laughed lightly, shaking her head as the other girl elaborated further. The little group hadn't been together for a huge amount of time, but there certainly would never be anyone left behind. Whether that was a quest or something even more important…like clothes shopping or bar hopping, they succeeded or failed as one. "Never."
As she stood back up, another figure appeared and Nickie turned with a grin to face Tarissa. Nickie reached for the bag after Nadine, grabbing out a bagel, another nod of her head as she passed the bag of goodies back to Tarissa. "Thank you, and agreed. I need coffee. Should we grab something in New Rome or take our chances out in the mortal world?"
It had been forever since she had set foot outside of the barriers. Truthfully, not actual years, but it certainly felt that way. She had no desire to visit her favorite old hangouts or pretend that she was normal like the people who she would soon be passing on the streets. She had no desire to try and fit back into that life. It had no love for her and she had no love for it in return.
Taking a bite of the bagel, the delicious carbs settling the pang in her stomach, she listened quietly to Nadine speaking up again, mentioning Josh. A grin came to her lips as the other girl spoke about her dating endeavors. "Do tell." Before she could say more though, Tarissa asked where Christian was and her own face of confusion matched the others. He was normally quite punctual, but before a feeling of apprehension could settle over her, the missing member of their group appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, causing Nickie to jump, hand clutched over her heart. "Gods Christian, are you trying to save monsters the trouble of killing me?"
Nickie took another bite out of the bagel and swallowed down the beating of her heart as Nadine commented on the boy as well. He looked prepared to face all of Hades and more, bringing another soft smile to Nickie's lips as she regarded the group silently. As he chastised them for being woefully underprepared Nickie met the other two's eyes with a playful grin. "Anyone want to bet on how many weapons he has? Loser pays for coffee?"
Christian asked the other two girls what the plan was and Nickie resisted the urge to jump in and take control. The map burning a metaphorical hole in her pocket. Christian was right though, this quest wasn't about her. So, instead, she pressed her lips together, trying to hide the grin before eating the rest of the bagel, thoroughly enjoying how well this trip was getting off. That plan to not insert herself was holding up quite well, at least, until Nadine mentioned packing eye-liner. Nickie's eyes met Christians, urging to interject with another suppressed grin.
Tarissa was rearing to go, to get the Hades out of camp for a bit for once, but the whole idea of the quest was exciting and she wanted to do this not only with Nickie but with all of their friends. Together the four of them could really be a force to be reckoned with. SHaking her head quickly at Nadine thinking they would leave with out her she smiled, "Wouldn't dream of leaving you behind, can't do this without all of us." she was not above admitting that. The four of them together could take on the world in her eyes. Laughing as she was called a lifesaver she just shrugged, " What can I say, food is much needed and I knew we are all pretty bad about making sure we get breakfast." she had to make sure they were all taken care of. She felt like the protective type when it came to all of them, but it was something she felt she had to do. She couldnt' help it.
Biting her lip she thought about the coffee situation, " I think we should stop at a Starbucks in the city. Might as well take advantage of being able to get out of the camp for a bit. Get some good coffee, oh...theres also Coffee Bean, they had a fantastic blended coffee that I love." she just wanted caffiene to be honest. Christian popped up out of nowhere and she rolled her eyes a bit, " I don't arrive late, I arrive when I mean to." she smirked a little, " Not all of us are freakishly early risers." Tarissa tucked her hair behind her ear that had escaped her ponytail.
" He probably has at least 8 blades on his person somewhere." she winked at Christian and adjusted her bag on her shoulders. " Lets head to the city, find our bearings and go from there after we coffee up. Does that work for you guys?" she looked around the group, not wanting to take complete control, it wasn't really her thing. She was more of a jump first ask questions later type, though she was trying to get better at that. Sometimes she had to keep control over her self to ensure she didn't step over boundaries.
" We can always stop for eyeliner I suppose if you feel like you didn't bring enough." she smirked a little at the idea of it. That they would be concerned about the little thigns that most others wouldn't even consider. It was just part of the way this little group was, once they got a plan they tried to stick to it, but they also were like Doug from Up, "squirrel!"
