Yes. You read that right. Greece has fallen...or at least the camp that has catered to Greek demigods for over three millennia has fallen. Camp Half-Blood had a traitor in their midst. A traitor with powerful allies who quickly burned the camp to the ground. Some were lost, some killed, and the rest who remained began the long trek across the country to the only place where they might be safe: Camp Jupiter.
Chiron banded what campers they had left, told them of the other camp and sent word to Camp Jupiter pleading for shelter. Chaos now threatens the camp daily with the arrival of new Greek campers to this foreign camp. This camp with strange customs and rules. While on the Roman end the Praetors are forced to hold up a balancing act of providing sanctuary while also trying to find the traitor before their home suffers the same fate as Camp Half-Blood.
New alliances are forged, new enemies are made, and these two worlds have to find some way to work together for the future of them all. Which side are you on? Which position will you take? It's time to jump in the fray because Greece has fallen.

Avery had made herself at home at Camp Jupiter. It was, of course, vastly different than Camp Half-Blood but that didn't mean it was terrible. She had no problem with the new place. They had given herself and her camp-mates a safe temporary home and for that she would never be able to find a fault in them. At least nothing that she couldn't overlook. There were even things that this new place had that were well above what they had at Camp Half-Blood. Like an entire swimming pool and beautiful gardens. Places of unique beauty that always drew her in. She wasn't exactly the type that could always be quiet, thoughtful, and relaxed but she did have her moments.
She had been having one of those moments yesterday, visiting the gardens, when she had met a nice girl from Camp Jupiter. The two had talked about the pretty flowers and it was during that small chat when the other girl mentioned that she should check out the aviary. Avery had then made a joke referencing her name and the place and oddly enough, it was then that the girl had to leave. Leaving Avery to plan a trip to see the place for herself.
So she made her way there today, as soon as she had gotten done with her work. She had visited a few aviaries with her dad but that had been ages ago. She had been just a small kid, happily bouncing around from area to area. She hadn't paid much attention nor actually soaked it all in.
She slowly made her way to the large building and marveled for a moment over how huge it actually was. She had hoped to see hummingbirds and maybe an owl or two. The building was so large though that she currently found herself wondering exactly what kind of feathered creatures they were storing inside. Never to balk from danger though, she walked in.
The place was just as large on the inside as it was on the outside. She found herself passing door to hallway then another door. Before she knew it, she walked through one door and stepped out into a large airy area as the door shut behind her. There were trees, bushes and large rocks and nothing made her feel as if she was in the right place.
Avery tried pulling the door, but it wouldn't budge. Her lips quirked to the side in thought before turning around and looking for another exit. It was then that she realized she wasn't alone. Four giant eagles occupied the space she was in, their sharp eyes watching her.
Avery made a small yelp before going very, very still. She had never seen an eagle this close and their massive size did nothing to help the fear that had made its way into her chest. "Hi…don't mind me. I'm just going to move over here okay? Your home is very lovely." She took one step forward and one of the massive animals shrieked, causing her to freeze and cover her ears. "Okay. No problem. I can stay very still if you guys promise to do the same." Taking her hands off of her ears and holding them up to show she was un-armed, she gave the birds an awkward smile and she tried looking around for an exit or anyone or anything that could possibly help.
[attr="class","THREAD1CONTENT"] After Evan learned who his father was, he spent many nights scouring books for information about his father. He never imagined himself being much of a reader, but Camp Half-Blood offered an array of books in Greek and he found the words came to him almost effortlessly. He consumed every fact he could, desperate to learn more about the king of Olympus. He already knew a few things - like, the lightning bolt was Zeus' symbol and he had a wife named Hera.
What he didn't know and would soon learn, though, was that another one of Zeus' symbols is an eagle, and even immortal beings have relationships wrought with a constant cycle of pain and love. Relationships were the furthest thing from his mind at that time, but he did develop an interest in eagles. He felt America did something right choosing the eagle to represent freedom and liberty. They were birds of prey, predestined kings of the sky; what better symbol could the god of the sky have?
Upon arriving at Camp Jupiter, Evan felt thrilled to learn that they had an aviary containing four real eagles, just hanging out in this giant, ornate building for you to hang out with. He had seen an eagle once or two before as a child, at the zoo with his mom on one of her rare days off, but never in such an intimate setting.
What nobody told him, however, was that these were no ordinary eagles - they were huge. Large enough to carry a demigod in its talons or on its back, and scary enough to make one pee their pants when it squawks.
Maybe that had just been him.
He quickly grew accustomed to their large size, though, and would spend a few minutes every few days hanging out with the magnificent creatures, still giving plenty of space. He wasn't eager to ruffle their figures, literally or metaphorically. He would be lying if he said he wasn't hoping that his father's blood wouldn't have had some sway in the eagles immediately liking him - these eagles did not care.
With his chores done, Evan decided it would be a good day to head to the aviary. He made a mental note to ask someone if they could feed the eagles; perhaps that would entice them. As he walked, he enjoyed the architecture of Camp Jupiter. He would never let the words leave his mouth, but this camp almost made Camp Half-Blood look like a children's camp. Everything was ornate and beautiful, almost bordering on excessive, but the design never lost the concept of function.
Evan followed his usual path through the massive aviary, unimpressed with the other offerings. They were pretty and cool, yeah, but they weren't what he came for. As he approached the door, he frowned - it was locked. Why would it be locked at this hour? Frankly, he wasn't sure why the four giant birds needed a lock to their enclosure in the first place, but he had quickly learned to not question the way the Romans did things, especially not in their own home. He looked around, but he was alone.
Should he ask for permission? He considered his options for a moment before deciding to just unlock the door. Entering the enclosure, Evan saw a girl he recognized as a fellow Greek camper (though he couldn't remember her name or anything else about her, really). She looked terrified as the eagles stared at her with their piercing eyes. One shrieked as the door closed behind Evan, causing him to jump.
"Did you mean to lock the door behind you?" He flashed her a wide grin, wanting to appear friendly despite his initial fright. "And don't worry about them, they're harmless I think. They're more loud than they are interested in devouring demigods." He waved at the birds, wanting to appear reassuring - and maybe he wanted to reassure himself a bit too. One outstretched its wings and fluffed its massive feathers - Evan was unsure if the it meant to intimidate or welcome him, but he persevered.
"I'm Evan, leader of the Zeus cabin. Eagles are kind of my thing." He laughed, the sound setting off another loud squawk from one of the eagles. He hoped she didn't notice that he had flinched, but that seemed unlikely.
Avery was doing her very best impression of a statue while her head began playing out various scenarios. She could make a run for it of course, that seemed like the most logical thing to do. Surely there had to be a second exit out of the room. The only thing that made her re-evaluate that plan was something that she remembered her Dad telling her about predatory animals. He had been planning a trip to northeast Africa at the time and had made it his mission to prepare her for all scenarios. It had been drilled into her head not to run away from a predator. They were always faster and it triggered something in them. She couldn't remember the specifics but she did remember that she shouldn't run. Were eagles considered predators? She, again, wasn't sure. To a mouse they certainly were and with the size of the birds in front of her she figured that they wouldn't have a hard time making her their next meal if they really wanted to. So there she stood, looking like the world's most unimpressive statue.
Avery had begun trying very slowly to itch a spot on her cheek when a male voice grabbed her attention. She remained very still while turning her head to see who was speaking and found a boy with a large grin on his face watching her. Avery returned the grin immediately, that alarming sense of dread that she had been feeling easing. She didn't know who he was but he seemed quite at ease around the large birds and that was good enough for her. He asked if she had meant to lock herself inside and she shook her head. "Definitely not." An uneasy chuckle came out of her lips. She was all about immersing oneself in new experiences, but not when the new experiences were as large as she was with sharp talons and beaks.
The boy spoke up again, assuring her that the birds weren't as dangerous as they looked and Avery let out a small breath that she had been holding. The boy seemed utterly relaxed, as if he spent all of his free-time chilling with deadly animals and a small grin came to her lips as he waved to the birds. "Well that's a relief." Very slowly, she let her body relax, her muscles still feeling tense as she took a deep breath in and then out.
Avery began to edge slowly towards where the boy was, keeping her eyes on the birds. It wasn't exactly that she didn't trust him, she was just keenly aware of her bad luck and there was no telling what might happen if fate decided to throw them a curve ball. She finally made it to him as he told her who he was, soothing her nerves once more. Surely everything was going to be fine. He was right. Eagles were his father's sacred animal. If anyone could fix this situation, surely it would be a Zeus kid. "Hi. I'm Avery. Hermes kid." And utterly useless in this scenario, the thought finishing itself silently in her head. He laughed, causing one of the birds to shriek in protest and she instinctively grabbed his arm, a nervous smile on her lips. "You did unlock it before you walked in right?"
He had called her out on her mistake so she assumed that he had fixed the error but crazier things had happened before. Avery's other hand moved to try the door, but as she gripped it, one of the birds took flight, causing another yelp of surprise to leave her lips as she briefly shut her eyes closed. After it was clear that the bird had flown to go a bit farther up his enclosure and not to swoop down and eat them as she had expected, she opened her eyes.
Where she had been grabbing the handle was now gone. Her hand touching a solid door, no handle in sight anymore. A sense of dread fell over her. "Oh no. No. No." She touched the solid door again, hoping her powers were playing a joke on her, but there was nothing there anymore. Just a solid, unrelenting door. Her cheeks were red as she turned back to Evan. "I'm so sorry. Is there...another exit?"
